God does not believe in Himself in the first place so why should we believe in him?

Religion / Re: The Big Lie by gotizsata: 8:24pm On Dec 06, 2011
I am sure really enjoyed bashing me there, but let's take a deeper look at this issue.
The Benjamites were described as different and their left handed was highlighted because it is apparently an issue. They were just people right? It is like saying that 10 "BLACK" men walked in. But Let's give that the benefit of doubt, I can't really fault.

The places where the bible says left is okay. I agree, they do exist, but we all agree that they are few and far apart.

However, right is key very key.

Jesus sits on the right hand of God- Mark 16:19, Luke 22:69, Matthew 22:44 and 26:64, Acts 2:34 and 7:55, 1 Peter 3:22

now for the left, , Genesis 48:14, Matthew 6:3-4, Ecclesiastes 10:2

About the cartoon
These are Catholics. everyone including your grandmother knows how Catholics for a long time have perceived the lefties, it is well documented all over the web.

But here the important point.

The bible does not take the trouble to dispel funny odd meaningless superstitions like this. It in fact , encourages them.

Religion / Re: Atheism - Revisiting The Burden Of Proof by gotizsata: 11:35am On Dec 04, 2011
@justcool

I have not insulted you in any way, and if there is any way nor do I intend to.

This thread has to do about the burden of proof and I respect that.

I say what I say ,because I have taken the trouble to read your posts carefully and analyzed them.

However, we have to put things in context,
When you say,
"why don’t you give us a scientific explanation of the origins of the elements that constitute the universe?"
there already is , lots of it.

(Very) Simply put,
Our universe sprang into existence as "singularity" billions of years ago. Singularities are zones of infinite density which defy our current understanding of physics. There is still a lot more information that is needed to fill in the gaps.

It is very okay to say, we don't know, because we do not know.
To say that God or Creator did it, is pressumptuous, we tend have the burden to proof that there was indeed a Creator.

If look at your arguments on causality ( with such examples of as the twin towers) they betray the true bias you have on this issue.
And we go back to the issue of understanding.
And there comes in the falliablity of your argument. Are you saying because we don't know God did it? That's the same argument people used to have about witchcraft, because they don't understand diseases it must be the witch doctor who did it. It must be what we understand.

If you dig through the net you will see there are many people who have asked this age old question and there were answered pretty well. And it will be nice to actually look out for these and read them. That's what I was suggesting.

The journey of discovery in science, on any matter, space, health, anything, takes as further from the concept of a Master not nearer.
Religion / Re: Atheism - Revisiting The Burden Of Proof by gotizsata: 9:59am On Dec 04, 2011
@Deep Sight
The issue of burden of proof as discussed in this thread has already been covered extensively and many scientists now do not see Christianity or God has an issue that needs to be brought on the table.
It is like a court of law and someone says, God told me to kill. Do you know what happens to that person?
The idea of God or the concept of Jesus is no longer in the debate. Not in Science and not in Law.
It is just Christians like you who are insisting on tabling an exhibit of evidence that has already been refuted and conclusively so.
That's what I meant, it is not in the radar.
No scientists of good standing is scouring the universe for the sky that god lives in to proof god exists!!!

However, the burden that God does not exist while interacting with Christians exists is with Atheists in this way,
We have to make Christians read the bible, over and over again, so that see the faults
and challenge them with the diametrically opposite reality they live in (science is self evident)
The burden of Christians lies with the fact that they need actually taking a "step of faith" and applying the same knowledge and ideas they have to the concept of Jesus. Because as soon as anyone tries to logically evaluate Jesus they become atheists it is that simple.

@OLAADEGBU
May the believers in Jesus and the Devil please stand up,

hahahahaha Satanist believe in Jesus just like you.
Whatever rock they hide under (like the mighty rock of atheism) they must believe in God to be Satanist. So they must be Christians, or Religious.
Religion / Re: God Doesn't Exist, He Lives? by gotizsata: 9:33am On Dec 04, 2011
I saw this statement on a fellow poster's signature and it made me to pause and think for quite sometime. Perhaps the way I have been evaluating Santa Claus in a close minded way.

So I contrasted two statements to detect a difference in meaning:-

"Santa Claus exists"

"Santa Claus lives"

What do such sentences connote with each term adopted?

How important is it to differentiate between these two terms "exist" and "live". . . what is the difference?
Religion / Re: God Doesn't Exist, He Lives? by gotizsata: 1:48pm On Dec 03, 2011
@Daiquiri
stir or not, god is just you, that's the thing. that's why you are taking it so personally,
when you pray you talk to yourself. so it very satisfying, especially for the highly narcissistic

God died in the bible, see the post above

plus, God is just an idea in your head, so if you want it to live or exist, it is up to you.

Religion / Re: Atheism - Revisiting The Burden Of Proof by gotizsata: 12:07pm On Dec 03, 2011
@justcool
you are trying to force a God.
which is just like the "who created God if God always existed" paradox. It is an old card to play and rather juvenile to say the least,
So what there are gaps in science.
There is simply no better explanation.
my point here, is that in the range of what probably happened, Abraham's God is not even under consideration. It is out of the radar. So stop trying to force it.
Your casualty argument in regards to the "elements" has been disproved many times over and in many ways, so you are just wasting everyone's time by trying to bring it here. Why don't you read a few books, wikipedia first, we will all really appreciate that, so that you can give us informed replies. you seem to have taken the trouble to learn a few things, why not complete the circle.
And even if you do not find answers, it does not mean God exists. It means you don't know.

Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword. Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes. Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off. The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows. They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children. (Isaiah 13:15-18 NLT)

But if this charge is true (that she wasn't a virgin on her wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst. (Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NAB)

I will make Mount Seir utterly desolate, killing off all who try to escape and any who return. I will fill your mountains with the dead. "Why have you let all the women live?" he demanded. "These are the very ones who followed Balaam's advice and caused the people of Israel to rebel against the LORD at Mount Peor. They are the ones who caused the plague to strike the LORD's people. Now kill all the boys and all the women who have slept with a man. When the people heard the sound of the horns, they shouted as loud as they could. Suddenly, the walls of Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites charged straight into the city from every side and captured it. They completely destroyed everything in it – men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep, donkeys – everything.

science does not claim certainty
the religious folks do
if we were to look then at both theories, god and mud vs big slam
then we all know that the god theory is really a 0 probability therefore not worth investigating further
it has long been disproved as total nonsense
big b.ang, is on the other hand very probable.
