tidedroid: infinix note 5 is a better buy compared to d hot 6 pro and the redmi 5 plus is probably better than both SMH! when you check the processor of the Infinix note 5 and the price slapped on it. |

Harryfrosh: I will wait for them to release max 4 before giving this out or sell if I see any good offer... I like their max series because of the battery and big screen for my online work... But with the way they are ignoring the max users is not really going well... If u like update well well, download developer rom and enjoy weekly updates, miui 10 don tey for there. |

Anyway I will be selling off the phone to a friend who already make his offer next month because no android version update no miui update Who say ur device na flagship? And who say no miui update? U think say all updates na dsame? Some na to fix bugs and not all models need incremental updates. |

Harryfrosh: it's really bad if you ask me... If I'm correct.. Max 2 is just last year phone and its stuck in miui 9.5..I don't really know note 5 production year.. But I believe note 5 is not dis year phone... So what makes it different?... Even tho I don't have any form of issue with my current miui 9.5.5... But saying because max 2 is last year phone is the reason why it stuck at 9.5 make it wrong for xiaomi.... If they want everyone to buy note 5... They shouldn't have roll out other phone in the first place... Why all this complain na, you go get miui 13 sef, make una take am easy. |

Wagasigiungu: He asked this question because I mentioned that the phone will be locked remotely once the barawo comes online. His question is this: what if his phone was password locked when it was stolen. How will the barawo access the Internet albeit the WiFi toggle on is still accessible. But why would a barawo toggle on the WiFi of a screen locked fone he/she can't access to browse with? Just for the fun of it? Nah!!! I don't think so, most unlikely ttlo happen sha Ooo, I see. But the thief will eventually attempt to wipe the phone, that's where it gets interesting . |

sureteeboy: Thanks. But what if the phone is actually locked with a pattern or password before it got stolen. The phone don go be that? Whether phone was locked with pattern/ password or not, the moment you lock the phone via your Mi account anytime, phone automatically gets locked remotely. |

maclawrence02: I had the phone with me but there was no time to start downloading cpu z. Is there no other way of checking? Like I said, compare the spec with what you have online, the about phone shows the number of cores in the processor. Nowadays, it will be more difficult to spot the difference that way. |

earthrealm: yeah, just occured to me too, it worked. now i wonder why others have it in settings and mine doesnt. the SG model had it in settings, and both on miui 9.5 It's that particular rom version, an update should correct it, but since you want to return it, there won't be any need for such. |

maclawrence02: thanks man. Someone wants to sell for 25k. Is it a good buy? Will I have the same awful battery life like my note 2? Of course, both phones are essentially thesame package, just an extra 1000mah battery plus a metal body on the Note 3. So long both processors are the same, expect a poor battery experience. |

Wagasigiungu: Result:
After about four hours, my unlocked and rooted mi max 2 was locked by xiaomi after simulating lost mode on i.mi.com (Pictures attached)
I was online via a VPN. It would require my xiaomi registered phone number and network to unlock the locked device.
Conclusion
I can say with utmost certainty that Xiaomi rocks when it comes to remotely locking a device after it has been stolen and rendering it just an expensive brick in the hands of the thief.
Recommendations
Xiaomi could improve on the response time after activating the remote lock feature. I got a response time of about 4 hours. I wouldn't know if this is dependent on the Internet network availability /strength.
Esure one of the very 1st steps you take after loosing ur fone is to do a sim welcome back. Otherwise you gibe the thief enough time to come up with alternatives and explore all options.
Ensure you register an account with xiaomi and link your device to it, as soon as you buy a new or used phone. Keep your password very safe and don't you dare forget it .
Upcoming Experiments
Remotely wipe a stolen unlocked and rooted xiaomi device Test if truly the find feature is inactive in an unlocked rooted stolen xiaomi device.
Stay tuned ladies and gentlemen. Lolz I hope u wear lab coat so, very toxic experiment . |
