MadCow1:Still surprised that many of us still commit the crime of baseless generalisation, pls no harm intended. You stated all these from very likely just one or two family houses to describe all the family houses in Nigeria. Haba! Its like using ur own church to describe all the churches in the world. Like someone already stated, not all family houses are the same. The one I stayed was near perfect, trust me. We really ate fat. Infact, the variety of food was more than I have at home, we never did night vigil, it was personal and you are not allowed to disturb others with it. Yes, two husbands visited their wives at different occasions and one stayed for two days. Family house was so fun that some corpers would occasionally spend more than 200 naira just to visit and spend time. My family house was really a family house, we discussed everything good from football to PES, relationship, politics, name it. We didn't address anybody as brother this or sister that, neither was Papa seen like a demi-God or reverenced like we do to pastors. For those complaining of hypocrites in the family house, what do you expect? Or don't you have hypocrites in every church? Family house is not for perfect people, and Papa and Mama are not better than you in anyway. Family house is a place for you to get better, no matter the title you carry. And mind you, in any gathering there is always a mixed multitude, and that includes thee family house. Oooo hw I miss my family! Ijebu-jesa, Osun state. 2013-2014 was really great. |
For those complaining of bad experiences in the family house, know that it is relative and not the same every where. So stop generalizing and discouraging others. For leaders in fellowship, know that u are not greater than anybody because of your office. Know how to address everyone with respect and humility. You were not chosen because you are the best. And know that GENCO is not a battle ground. To everyone, kw that people like you that make things work. Ensure you do your part to make things easier for posterity. |
Phils:I can't image NYSC without NCCF. I really miss my Family house. No pretending, it was d ideal family. Really wish for reunion one day. |
evisexxy:Sist those rules are not meant just for u but for others also. Yes its better you don't bring in some of the hidden things u do outside to the family house, so as not to negatively influence some innocent minds that may be present. Trust me, u don't want to be the one to lead others to temptation. |
How much? |
oduastates:Funny thing is more oil wells are being discovered everyday. |
Tenim47:Boss, I believe this is more than just voting a particular party. Truth is, we have been treated less than slaves by our own people. Do you know that oil exploration has been taking place in Nigeria even before 1914? |
Chief Sunday Inengite remembers the day the foreigners who had come to his village in Nigeria's Niger Delta struck oil. "They made us be happy and clap like fools, dance as if we were trained monkeys," he says. Years later, the 74-year-old now looks back on his youthful enthusiasm with sour regret. Nigeria has become Africa's biggest oil producer, but the people of Oloibiri complain they have not seen much of the money made in the 52 years of oil production. "It smacks of wickedness, hard- heartedness," he says. INQUISITIVE Mr Inengite was 19 years old when the foreign engineers came looking for oil in 1953. An inquisitive young man, he made friends with the British, German and Dutch engineers during the years they were exploring the area around Oloibiri, now in Bayelsa State. "I was trying to know why they were all here, going into the forests and into the swamps." The village elders thought they were looking for palm oil - a valuable edible oil that had been exported from West Africa since the first European traders arrived hundreds of years before. "It wasn't until we saw what they called the oil - the black stuff - that we knew they were after something different," Mr Inengite said. The explorers threw a party at their house-boat and invited everyone from the village to see samples of the oil they had been looking for. "You can imagine the jubilation, after all they had been looking for oil in commercial quantities for years." But now he says the environment has been damaged, affecting fish catches, and the small plots of land where people had grown crops are polluted by oil spills and gas flares. "You see fish floating on the surface of the water, something we didn't know before." "It may be difficult to make a catch that will be enough for your family for one day." GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION But the problem is not caused just by the oil companies. The government gets tax and royalties on the oil the companies produce. The government is also a majority shareholder in Nigeria's oil industry and has made over $1.6trillion in revenue over the last 50 years, according to analysts at Standard Bank. "I don't only blame the whites that came here, what about the government?" Mr Ingenite says. "People in the government get nearly all the money from the economy." When the BBC visited the first oil well a few kilometres down the road, we were approached by men working as commercial motorcycle taxis. They all insisted oil companies, especially Royal Dutch Shell, should give them money as compensation for taking the oil. But as we spoke, a local government official drove up in his brand new luxury four- wheel-drive car, an expensive gold watch dangling on his wrist. Why don't people ask their leaders where their money is? "They have hearts as black as coal, they are evil people - what would be the point?" said Julius Esam, 27. A nearby mosquito infested swamp was being cleared to build a 300-bed hotel and conference centre with an oil "museum". The contractor told the BBC the project was costing the state government 90billion naira ($592million, £298million.) Dimeari Von Kemedi, in charge of scrutinising contracts made by the Bayelsa state government said he would stop the project. "But it's very difficult to prevent every badly conceived or corrupt contract going through," he said. The access to corrupt money allowed by political office in the Niger Delta is also responsible for the emergence of violent groups in the area. Groups of "boys" were armed by government during the 2003 elections. Their job was to ensure the ruling People's Democratic Party held onto power and therefore the oil money. These groups later got involved in oil theft, stealing tens of thousands of barrels a day for powerful syndicates, kidnapping and extortion. Although groups like the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (Mend) use their contacts with journalists to promote a political agenda, most armed groups are criminal gangs who want their own share of the money being divided among the powerful. Mr Ingenite says in his old age, he now understands what the militancy wants. "We frowned at violence because we are very hospitable to those that come," he said. "But it can't be so today, and if they act the way they do, you can't blame them, because their blood is hot, not like old men's that is cool." Source: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7840310.stm

funkyjms:Yes boss, take this example 5+0-2=5-2=3 We take out the +0. It is impossible to take out a number without taking its sign along with it. A number and its sign are inseperable. Trying to take out a number without its sign is like taking out Abuja from Nigeria. |
We should all know dat every number has a sign, either negative or positive. When we rearrange numbers,we move d numbers with their signs along with them. For example, 5-2+8-9=5+8-2-9=13-11=2 1-0+3 is nt equal to 1-3. There is no way (-) dat belongs to 0,can b given to +3. For those that says 1-0+3=1-+3,when u take out d zero,u take out d sign along with it. Therefore, 1-0+3=1+3=4 (when we take out d zero,we take out d minus sign along with it) |
funkyjms:Now i c whr d confusion is coming frm. 1-0+3=4. How? This is because 0 is nothing. There is nothing like +ve or -ve zero. Zero is nothing and can b seen as none existed. Or to make it clearer, lets rearrange d numbers. For example, 2+6=6+2=8 -2+9=9-2=7 0-3=-3+0=-3(take note) Therefore, 1-0+3=1+3-0=4-0=4 Hope its clear nw. Thanks |
MrCGPA:Hmm! No need for d 1st class ish. But if its true dat u got a 1st class in Electrical Electronic Engineering, then what pple have been saying about the Nigerian 1st class students is most likely true. And u are even accussing some1 of falling hand! Boss na u fall our hand and d hands of 1st class brethren. No malice intended bro. D answer is definitely -2. |
[quote author=Emperortj93 post=28405074]can i take u out for dinner sometime? No problm bro,jst b ensure ur atm card has already started doing the press up. Lol! As for repogirl, u should know a true fan when u see one. Btw, u said u want nairalander to push u so as to complete this story when u started updating it Good to know that, but we should also ensure d push is not too hard, make she nor go fall. |

repogirl:Its not always best to reply people like that. Its better to build bridges you know. As for those trying to unfollow, I bet you, they are the ones who love your story the most. Expect more bashing with time, it shows you are doing great. Don't be deterred. |
aishatab:Next time, follow these steps when downloading via opera mini. When you are asked location to store the item you intend to download, don't select phone memory or sd card. Instead select 'others', before selecting either phone/sd card. I repeat, select 'others' ist, before selecting phone or sd card, depending on where you decide to store your download. |
MadCow1:I don't think explosions are necessary for all controlled demolition. Unless am wrong, there are many ways of controlling demolition. Unless want to say such technology can't be employed here in Nigeria yet. |
Suddenly, everybody becomes engineer on NL! Pple typing based on sentiment. Even if the truth be told, their sentiment is always there to blind them from seeing it. They want to hear only what they want. Smh for them. No matter what, the truth will come out. Nigeria with so many surprises! What should be surprising here is if the collapse was not truely due to controlled demolition! |
Drama! Drama!! Drama!!! That's what Nigeria has always been. Drama! They, GEJ+ the politicians+some of the international communities+many media houses+ Boko haram + MEND are all playing the scripts of this drama. What ever happens have been written. They even know the next batch of leaders come 2015. Its a pity that the lives of innocent Nigerians have been taken in the course of the Drama. God help and preserve us until this Drama some how is brought to an end, because they are already rehearsing the next scene! |
I hate to solve this mathematics. If you attempted suicide because you went through difficult times at this tender age, what would you do when you face very difficult times at the latter part of your life? ![]() Life never even start, some pple don dey 1 escape! |
Uganda plans to introduce a new anti-gay law that will withstand any legal challenge, a government minister has told the BBC. It will not explicitly refer to homosexuality, but will rely on the penal code which prescribes a life sentence for "unnatural acts", he said. Activists say the plan is more draconian than anti-gay legislation annulled by the courts in August. The US and other donors cut funding to Uganda in protest against the law. Uganda is a deeply conservative society where homosexual acts are already illegal. New legislation against gay people will increase the government's popularity, says the BBC's Catherine Byaruhanga in the capital, Kampala However, many political observers wonder whether the bill, known as The Prohibition of Promotion of Unnatural Sexual Practices Bill, will see the light of day because of the huge pressure the government is facing from Western governments not to further criminalise gay people, she says. 'Language twisted' The minister, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the proposed legislation will be a streamlined version of the annulled Anti-Homosexuality Act. It will clarify what constitutes the promotion and funding of "unnatural" acts, he said. This could affect the financial support gay rights groups receive from donors, our correspondent says. Gay-rights activist Frank Mugisha said a leaked copy of the bill suggested that it would be harsher than the previous legislation. "They have just twisted the language but it is the same thing. It's actually worse because the 'promotion' part is harsher and it will punish the funding of LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender] and human rights groups," Mr Mugisha was quoted by the UK's Guardian newspaper as saying Ugandan human rights lawyer Nicholas Opiyo told the BBC he was confident the proposed law would be defeated in court. The Anti-Homosexuality Act was annulled by the Constitutional Court, which ruled that parliament lacked a quorum when it was passed. US President Barack Obama denounced the legislation as odious, and the US cut aid to Uganda - a key ally in its campaign against militant Islamists in the region. The US did not reinstate the aid, even after the Constitutional Court annulled the legislation, our reporter says. Foreign donors are watching to see what happens next, she adds. The new bill has been drawn up by MPs from the governing National Resistance Movement, and had not yet been approved by the cabinet, the minister said. The scrapped legislation allowed for life imprisonment for "aggravated homosexuality" and for entering into a same-sex marriage. It also proposed a prison sentence of up to seven years or a fine or both for the promotion of homosexuality. The original draft of the bill called for the death penalty for "aggravated homosexuality". Source:m.bbc.com/news/world-africa-29994678

johndwayy:Abeg leave dat guy o. He has jst spoken out his true persn. Now you know many Nigerians abuse the 'human brain'. No wonder they call us the giant of Africa! Africa meaning the land of apes. |

Worse than hypocrites! |
The satirical news website Huzler has been spreading a rumor over the Internet that solar storms will cause the Earth to become cloaked in total darkness sometime in December. They took the rumor one step further and said that NASA had confirmed the report. Huzler set up an official- looking website emblazoned with the headline "NASA Confirms Earth Will Experience 6 Days of Total Darkness in December 2014!" According to the story, solar storms will cause "dust and space debris to become plentiful and thus block 90% sunlight". However, there's an issue with this, solar storms don't work that way. While they are real phenomena, they don't work like terrestrial storms and stir up a lot of dust or dirt. Solar storms are caused by fluctuations in the sun's magnetic field. They generally cause very minor disturbances in the Earth's magnetosphere. A powerful solar storm can knock out electrical equipment, but a typical solar storm won't do worse than knock a homing pigeon slightly off course. It's important to realize that solar storms certainly don't blot out the sun. The hoax used such credible- sounding sources such as NASA chief Charles Bolden, who was seen in a video advising people about emergency preparedness. That video was actually about Bolden advising people about real natural disasters like earthquakes and hurricanes. While the article may have tricked someone into believing it to be true, the fact that the artcle had some pretty sloppy math should have given it away. It spells out the expected dates of the disaster: December 16 to December 22, and then immediately adds, "The world will remain, during these three days, without sunlight." Evidently, the website fudged the numbers a little bit, which doesn't matter much, considering it's all one big hoax.
