Writercruze:

I could have sworn that men like you don’t exist, but I was wrong anyway. Are you so heartless that you don’t even consider how she will feel once she realized that you are a scam?

I thought heartbreaks only happen in Nollywood and Zeeworlds. I never imagined someone as heartless as you existed until you broke my heart to pieces.

How could you paint a marriage life scenario to me while you know that I was your fling? You coaxed into believing that I’m the chosen one whom you will hold close to your arm and spend the rest of your life with.

But why? Did all these lies worth it?

And lastly bro, about your pig farm how did you get your piglets, what's the cost and how much do you literally spend for them to growth talking of the feed.

well first off in the game you don’t have to trust people except your guts alone, with the help of my mom I was able to get 3 Benin republic boys and they have been helplful, we payed their guardians for a year and except for the piggery I barely do anything , I studied Agriculture In school though but I have other programs I am also into, Agriculture is a very sensitive hustle so I drive to ijebu almost every weekend! My workers stays there in ijb so daily monitoring is covered and animal care isn’t far from there

Perfect. I found the ace I can keep in this. Talking about the Employees. And your piggery is their market for it and how vast

yes I have a farm, sited in Ogun state, Remo its a 3 and half acres of land, I just started the piggery though, I would have loved to venture I paused the fishery for now cause people were advising me to use earthen pond but I prefer the concrete pond, as for poultry I will probably start next year

Sounds good I will be in ibadan month end. If God spares me till then I can come over if you won't mind. I use to have a godfather in iperu sef. I guess you are a full time farmer or how come you were able to manage the farm land with lots of people telling me no one to trust here. Talking about your workers. And how far is your farm to Animal care at Iperu junction.

speaking of experience i don’t know about rubber though but I planted palm kernel on 3 acres 9 metres tgl spacing!! It doesn’t need fencing you can just plant cashew seedling at the edge your plot as boundary! As per the cucumber I opted out cause there’s no market for cucumber at my farm location, but groundnut cocoa is a good one, you can try the vegetatively propagated cassava and as for the rice do you have any idea how many hectares of land you might be needing for that and considering the artificial irrigation there’s no way you won’t have to drill a borehole, Cocoa is very good but it’s needs shade unlike palm kernel!!
Safe bro

Do you have a farm and where is your location if I can cone on excursion and perhaps discuss and rub minds. Am presently in Jaji Kaduna state though should be on pass by month end

Pistotita:
Age is a number. You will understand me better as you read on.

When I was a teenager, I controlled huge crowd of brains. It was easier because I had older siblings who performed excellently well in high school. We all went to the same high school. Was one of the best in Nigeria. I had to put in extra effort to meet up with the landmark set. One had the best result in Lagos State, I think all over Nigeria too, but not sure. I pitied my younger one. The guy struggled not to live in the shadow of his older siblings. lol. But funny, it made him also exceptionally outstanding. You know how teachers compare siblings. lol. The guy actually confessed later that if not for the pressure, he would have been an average guy today.

Then, there was the period I had to be in the same environment with people like a decade younger than me. That was the true test of who I am. Initially , I struggled because the way the brains these young guys worked at the time was really beyond me. I had to put in extra effort to train my brain, and then, they started running after me.

And then, the days of losing almost everything came. It reminded me the story of Job. Perhaps, you have not yet experienced it, but this was the hardest, and I thank God that he brought me out like a gold. Therefore, age is just a number. Older men will continue saying "yes sir" to you as long as the grace of God is there.

You have 30 days in a year and you want to get involved in Agriculture. Study these guidelines below:

The most important decision
1. To survive, your first task is to find a trusted hand. the person may know nothing about Agric, but the only requirement is loyalty. If you can't find, do not waste your time to do anything. Just forget it for now. This is the main ingredient which determines your success.

Crops
2. Vegetables - Short term, but highly profitable. The challenge is that you are in Oyo. That's not a good location for exotic vegetables. You are going to be limited to open market supplies. Still profitable, but not a wonderful location. Good locations are areas near Lagos, Abuja, PH, and anywhere there are oil workers.

3. Fruits and Trees - It's a good one for anyone who does not have time like you. And with a trusted man on ground, it makes it easier. There are many trees you can pick from. Check around. Don't just do anything, make research. You can get ideas here, but do not rely on the person who gave you the idea just because he wants to partner with you, or wants you invest in his business.

4. Grains - corn/soy/shorghum, etc. Can be really profitable if rainfall occurrences in your location is high. But I doubt it. May not be good for you. But if your land is close to a stream, good for you.

5. Cash Crops - Very good, but they are long term. And at times too overrated. But it can be a very good one for you since you don't have time now. You may just invest in cash crops and later enjoy them. While you even get more land area, you dedicate 1 to 3 acres for short term to medium crops, and the rest should be cash crops.

Animals
6. Pig - It seems this is an area theft rarely occurs. You may look into it.

7. Egg Production: Go on with other areas initially, and get into this when you are sure your trusted guy is in charge of your farm. Then, you can gain from this by selling eggs to keep your cash flow in an excellent shape. But don't start with it because workers will steal your eggs. When your security is superb, go into it.

8. Chicken, meat production: Broiler production. There is more to this. If you have a trusted hand, this is the easiest. You combine with Veggie, or fruits trees, or do all. Then, your marketing must be solid. Can give you hints if you choose it.

Other points
9. Fruit Juice Crops: Pineapple, Pawpaw, Grapes, etc can be rewarding. They are mostly medium term fruits. The challenge is the rainfall pattern of the area. Not necessary to produce Juice, but that's an advantage if you can.

10. Consultants and failed farmers will Doon show up making nasty suggestion. Pick wisely.

11. Do not invest or partner with any farmer. When they are looking for cash, they are nice. But the day you hand over the cash, they turn to demons.

12. Do not employ any consultant. 99.99999% are dullards. You even know more than them. Take number 1 point seriously, and get him.trained well.

13. Don't just send your trusted guy to one bush to train. If you doubt me, I will provide you 101 people on this nairaland who you can talk to. I have lists of trainees who have gone into bush to get trained, but learned zero. They returned to train themselves. Search for a good program before you enrol him/her. In my own opinion, ladies perform better than men. Men are crazily motivated with money, if they don't get it easily, they start stealing.

A special emerging Market
Species, Seeds, and essential oil production are good areas you should look into. You will just make it in this area. But you must be good in planning it well. This is where my focus is now presently. And you may want to research Vanilla production. This is not easy, but very rewarding. These are areas that theft is almost zero. However, you must be ready to do pilot and spend money before you get it right. Then, you get NAFDAC approval. This is the game.

Conclusion
Build your team first. Thenafter, train them based on their strengths. Do not force anyone who has the passion for crop to engage in animal husbandry, and vice versa. And take marketing research serious.

Best of luck.

Wow I feel so blessed from this. Thanks man. But you suggest training my workers first. Training based on what especially? I use to have one old vertinary who use to come tend our livestock when I was growing. The man gave me his words into relocating and helping me with the farm.

YOU HAVE A JOB ALREADY AND YOU WANT TO DABBLE INTO FARMING, ASK ME I WILL TELL YOU NEVER TO DARE IT, REASON IS BECAUSE YOU CANT SERVE TWP MASTERS AT A TIME. A MADE THAT HUGE MISTAKE AND BURN MY FINGER, EVEN EVEN WHEN YOU HIRE A SPECIALIST FARMER TO MONITOR FOR YOU, YOU WILL STILL LOSS MANY AND GAIN FEW, I WENT YO MY SITE THIS EVENING SAW A FRIENDS POULTRY FARM ATTENDANT SINCE MY FRIEND DON'T YOU TO COME TO THE FARM ON SUNDAYS, AS SOON AS HE SAW ME, HE ALMOST BURIED HIS HEAD ON GROUND, I SAW HIM CARRYING ALMOST 4 CRATES OF EGGS WRAPPED WITH CLOTHES. BUT AS DE MATA NO CONCERN ME, NA SO I THROW FACE. COME TO THINK OF IT, THE GUY MIGHT HAVE BEING DOING THIS FOR YEARS, I ALSO HAD A FARM LIKE THAT BEFORE AND HAVE KNOWN THAT IT IS PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE A TRUST WORTHY FARM ATTENDANT. IF THEY CAN BE DOING SUCH TO A FARM WHO COMES TO FARM EVERYDAY WITH EXCEPTION OF SUNDAYS, THEN WHAT DO YOU THINK THAT WILL HAPPEN TO SOME ONE LIKE YOU WHO WONT BE THERE FROM MONDAY TO FRIDAY, MAY BE JUST COME ON SATURDAYS?

Well, I will still employ labour even if am on ground. No one is loyal well said but I want to see things from an optimist side of life. And that's y I talked about only farm produce that can be accounted for.

why not plant palm kernel on an acre and use the remaining 9 plots for cash crops, you can also plant cassava and ground! Palm kernel doesn’t require your presence as such, just check on them like twice a month! As for the fish and poultry you will need trusted help hands

Note: should you consider planting palm kernel as you are planting make sure you barricade with bamboo!
Good luck

I was told about the cash crop thing and a colleague even told me about the palm kernel stuff and rubber. The issue is we spoke about fencing and when we did the calculation, oboy it was running to millions. And again the land is between Ibadan and a surrounding town so I can't say much about the Safety. Someone also told me about rice plantation that I can do an artificial irrigation system even up to some imported cassava cucumber etc. I just want some with experience to tell me his steps, failures etc so I can learn before putting my power hook line and sinker

I’m just in the same position like you, wanna start poultry and fish farming. Then cassava and plantain on the remaining land. Unfortunately I will leave it to someone to help monitor, and I don’t know much about poultry.

I even know a lot about poultry and fish farming. I do have a mini pond while growing up and we even hatched fish self in our locally constructed dark room. My own problem is time

Really dunno and curious what to expect. I Intend dividing the land 15 plots for crop farming and 5 for animal poultry and fish farming. I really don't know where to start since am not married. And in my 20s. Great and experience farmers should kindly pilot me on the best crops to plant even when am not really on ground to monitor it. All ideas and contributions are welcome.

Gentlemen,

I will go straight to the point. My dream as a kid is to have a big farmland since I see farming as any other business. So far have gotten a good area of land over 20 plots in a town in Oyo state for the purpose of this. Though am into a job that requires me not been able to monitor it except 30 days in a year.

Really dunno and curious what to expect. I Intend dividing the land 15 plots for crop farming and 5 for animal poultry and fish farming.

He hasn't been any close to war than keeping defensive IN a military base for a peace keeping operation. The idiot just want to be noted. That's if he even knows what a frontline means.

So the women there were in front line? And don't come and tell us you fought war. You went for a peace keeping mission and most a times since your are a police you folks are always on the defensive not offensive. You just checkmate rioters etc as a police man on peace keeping.

Again You dont know and won't know what war means. There is a difference between been in the front line and been on the defensive in missions. Even while in the defensive, you people are not cleared to take shot at civilians and this is mostly by police. Send a picture of yourself in the frontline engaging the enemy in a firefight, rappelling down from a perfectly good airplane with your so called women folks not you standing in a guarded barracks and smiling for the camera
