Please I need help on something everyone. I transferred some money from my First bank using the ATM at a UBA branch to my other UBA bank account . I didn't receive the alert instantly. I received the alert 9am the next day that I've been debited. But the money in question wasn't transferred to my UBA account rather I got a message that says "your account has been debited with ₦20,000 by FBN/PAYARENA. I reported at first bank but the person who attended to me was confused and he told me to come back the next day. Just to add to this, I actually successfully transferred ₦1000 previously to my other using and I still got the FBN/PAYRENA but my other account got credited message but the 20K I transferred later to my other account wasn't reflecting and I was debited and I got a FBN/PAYARRNA message. Please what do I do? How did I get debited by Payarena when I've never used it? Please have you experienced that? Did you get your money back? @seun osewa @lalasticlala help push this page. I was typing in such a rush, perhaps the reason I mixed things up. Are you an alumni of the same faculty or currently a student there? I'm a student in the faculty of pharmacy —400 level precisely. Howdy? Nice to meet you. |

Nowenuse: I was far far far more intelligent than my elder brother right from childhood till we entered universities. I was always the star pupil and intelligent one in the family while he lagged behind. He went to Covenant varsity and I went to Uniben. He finished with a high 2.1, almost to get first class, while I finished with 2.2 in Uniben, after having an extra year . Department of medical sciences. Department of medical sciences in uniben ? When was that established? I have some misgivings about your story. |
Education › Re: UNIBEN Made Me Doubt My Intelligence by Grandest(m): 11:21pm On Sep 01, 2020 |
Nowenuse: My brother you are not alone in this, believe me.
I finished from Uniben in 2017 from the faculty of medical sciences and believe me, going to Uniben was the biggest mistake and regret I have in this life till now. Especially when I had the option of going to a private varsity.
Throughout my primary school and for most of my secondary school, I was a star pupil and always came at the top of the class. Uniben was a very different story for me and I actually had an extra year. Till now I hate Benin city as a whole and avoid going to that city like a plague, even though I have lots of family members there. Cos whenever I go there, I remember the frustrations from that school called Uniben.
Almost everything about Uniben is fvcked up. Only few faculties are sane. The rest are like a death trap. I was an intelligentsia and erudite before I got into Uniben. I was very passionate about an academic career and education. However, I have lost all that steam attending Uniben and all my heart and attention in life have been diverted towards business. I don't even want to hear of a master's degree with my 2 ears, in spite of how much my family is on my neck to pursue a master's.
When I was in my final year and I saw the new intakes who were very happy and excited to gain admission into Uniben, I shook my head. I pitied them. Uniben is just like the road to hell, where before you realize how far you have gone, it's too late to turn around.
My brother, it is well. You are definitely not alone in this. Dust yourself and pick yourself up, things are going to be fine. Faculty of medical science? There is no such thing as that.. In uniben, we have School of medicine and faculty of basic medical science.. I don't know where you got yours from.. |

Education › Re: How The Best WAEC Student In My Set Never Wrote The Exam. by Grandest(m): 9:29pm On Aug 27, 2020 |
Muna4real: Examination malpractice is becoming worse as the days go by especially and in fact, only in Nigeria. Students no longer read ahead for their exams. What they do, is to "gather " money for the exams. The rate of exam malpractice has risen to the extent that even parents are involved in this shameful act. Let me tell you my story.
I sat for my WAEC exams in 2017. I actually started preparing for my exams in ss2 ,because I knew that my parents will never ever pay for Expo, and so I had to respect myself and do my best. While the exam date was approaching, I discovered that most boys in my class were not coming to school frequently as they were . As the class monitor, I was always marking them absent in the school register. So one day I decided to ask them why they don't come to school as often, and they told me that they had to gather money for Expo . They said that they cannot kill themselves reading everyday when they can just pay to pass. I was half surprised because they were not doing well in class Afterall. I tried to make them drop the idea but it was a fruitless effort.
My principal later appointed a particular teacher to be the school's exam coordinator. This man Ehh, is the state's top run's man. He runs for waec, jamb, neco, post utme, in fact, he is a top runner( so he made us believe). As the exams were approaching, he started collecting money for Expo, and he collected based on the importance of the subject. Example
Maths -5000
English -5000
Chemistry -5000
Physics -5000
Biology 4000
Commerce -3000
Tie and die -1500,and so on.
Students were paying and since I couldn't pay, I was reading. I became as thin as a broom stick. The teacher was even registering people who will not even write the exams. Those ones payed about 60000 . They couldn't write because they were working. I got to know all about this because this teacher will tell us to our faces to bring our loved ones who are willing to pay.
When the exams came, the first subject we wrote was maths. My people, come and see runs. I haven't seen any like it in my entire life. Those who payed were sitting at the back while we were sitting at the front. Sometimes the invigilator will taunt us and laugh at us because we refused to pay. What surprised me more was the amount the invigilator collected. My people, he requested for 350000. My class was large and in fact, another school was joining us, so we were up to 300. Our "Expo teacher " payed the money and added a slaughtered fowl which he asked me to buy (as the prefect of the class). I didn't know that I was buying fowl for an Expo invigilator ohh. He just said that I should buy fowl and I bought.
Through out the days we wrote the exams, the invigilators were payed. The teacher was writing personally for those who couldn't come to the school to write. He would take answer booklets, ask other teachers for the answers to the ones he doesn't know (all teachers were working together), write for them and submit. I wasn't scared because I was confident in what I wrote and in fact, the exams were simple for me . I only had difficulty in physics.
My people when the results were out, I passed ohh but guess who was the best student. The best student of my school 2017/1018 session was a pump attendant at one filling station in sapele who didn't even know the address of my school. He was one of those students my teacher was writing for. Chai. Ahh this life no balance.
When will malpractice stop in Nigeria? When will our youths begin to see that malpractice damages the society. These days, there are half baked graduated everywhere. Why? Why can't they just put enough hard work if they want to pass exams? Why? Nice post. I sent you a mail. Kindly reply or can you please give me your email address? |

dasparrow: Glad you are back. When one tries to advice Nigerians, they won't listen. They think every part of the world is safe and that couldn't be further from the truth.
Many Nigerians also don't understand that there is a lot of discrimination towards Africans worldwide. All they are thinking about is how to leave Nigeria and in their desperation they go from frying pan to fire. Some end up coming back in a coffin. It's very unfortunate. The educational system here is horrible believe me. Nigeria is a big joke. I won't blame anybody for trying to leave. I'll just advise them to go to a well established and well known country. I repeat Nigeria is a hellish place to live in. |

quentin06: Hmm so you believe that god is a farce abi? Nope! God is not a farce! He's real, powerful, dependable and all knowing. His ways are higher than our ways and I believe in Him. This is clearly a matter of choice. Some persons committed rape and premeditated murder and you're coming up with an alibi that God should be held responsible. They were in full possession of their senses that what they were about doing is crime but they proceeded to do it. This is a choice they made. Everyday we all are faced with situations where we must make choices. God gave us the will. We are free moral agents. It's inherent in us to distinguish between good and evil. Rape is evil — murder is evil but you went ahead to commit such demonic and sordid acts. That's a choice. Anybody blaming God is clearly living on "Mount stupid" and very irresponsible. |
