Nobody should ever distort history of ijebu territory. Nowhere in history has ijebu being controlled not until the British magbon war against awujale. The ijebu were very fetish and conservative that expansionist have really avoided those territory.
From the fulani empire to the oyo empire and the Benin empire.
The oba of benin might have not want any war that would provoke the ijebus to take over Benin city. We owned the lagoon around ibeju-lekki to Epe. Those paying royalty to benin are the aworis along the Lagos island.

Do you know why I laugh you... grin grin
Your are not the first ijebu guy to have grace nairaland and speak of the temerity of the ijebu people and at the end of the day they were schooled by me

Are you aware the name ijebu was unintentionally given to them by the edo people but your leaders won't tell you because it has a sad background attached to it, the Benins had always raided the ijebu people for sacrificial slaves for our idols and so when the European inquired about them, the Benin said oo, you mean the tubu people this were the sound they made when the Benins dropped their corpse inside the river, and the European corrupted tubu to ijebu

Dont drag the ijebu into your benin kingdom dominance. That tao11 was a propaganda historian.
You should know that the ijebu kingdom has nothing to do with the benin. The ogiso of benin really feared the ancient ijebu people reason why the expansion ended at the area between ijebu and benin (Ondo state).
The oyo empire also avoided the ijebus.
So dont drag the ijebu people to your drag with aworis.

Why is the Oba using Yoruba name of King title Oba? Is Oba a Benin word?
answer me small underage boy.

Ogiso is benin version of Oba while Yoruba is Oba.
Oba of Benin lineage is from Yoruba while Ogisos are the aborigin of Benin and Ogiso is the title of their King. Befor Oba of Benin can be crowned till today, he must pay for the purchase of the land from the Ogisos...that signifies Ogisos as permanent landlord and the Oba of Benin as permanent tenant.
The question u should ask urself now is where does the Oba of Benin originate from...why is he regarded as a pamernent tenant in benin? Why does he have to pay for the purchase of the land before he can be crowned?
The answer is simple....He's the offspring of Oranmiyan, son of Okanbi, the only son of Oduduwa from Ile-Ife Oodaye.

I would have have agree but no evidence

Answer this first.....

If truly yoruba or oromiyan came and found Benin, why is there any yoruba corrupted names, title that ls found in the oba palace why is the oba and the chiefs not dressing like yoruba? why is the oba palace not speaking yoruba and why is there no yoruba idols in the palace I begin to wonder if the yorubas are using this cheap lies to win an argument over the Benin people, lastly have there been anyone who will deny is father for any reason if truly the oba of Benin is from Ife why is the oba of Benin saying otherwise

Secondly provide evidence dating back 1400-1914 that Benin-Ife truely existed either written or evidence in artefact.

If you can't provide this then you ha
ve disappointed your audience

The history of oromiyan in Benin was formed and forged in the old western region to intergret the Benins and the oba as yorubas even to the extent of giving him the second position and displacing the alafin who was originally the second after the ooni of Ife although tho the oba of Benin accepted this offer at first but things didn't go as planned the other yoruba monarchs and together with the alafin of oyo was not happy with this new arrangement that the oba of Benin who is second after the ooni of Ife can't even speak yoruba language and so many other complains ensued from there, again the oba of Benin had a fall out with awolowo and other benin political aspirants and as a result pulling out of western region became thinkable and as soon as Midwestern region was created the oba of benin refuted the false history and the yorubas kings fired back and soon after the oba of Benin forged a counter history of ekaladeran and since then the history that started on falsehood became held seriously by many people who are unaware

Iku akpolopolo suppose get it's meaning, Omo go get its own, oba go get its own.
What's the meaning of omo and iku akpolopolo?

@gregyboy, I commend your patience. But it seems you have to educate many generations of history twisters.

Sadly, many of those arguing history thinking it is Yoruba patriotism don't know their GENUINE family history beyond 4 generations. Not to talk of history as a whole. Many are even Tapa slaves in Yoruba land originally.

They are not interested in any objective discussions. Years ago, I proudly narrated my Edo and Yoruba side for all to know that I have every reason to be objective. I wanted to be a bridge builder. But for most of them only lies and bigotry will do, so na waste of time.

Very sad.

The thing is I have to be patience with them even if it entails being in my sick bed
My joy is getting the parasitic narrative of our oba being a yoruba man of our history it is parasitic and untrue

I decided to dedicate my time at the moment to address it even when I wanted to look away but the yorubas get attacking the oba of Benin in their numbers which was uncomfortable to look away from many Benins didn't even bother attacking back I felt disappointed

The igbos and yorubas are constantly on our neck to denounce our history to favour them

Take time to read. I'll help you.

Besides, the title of their King is Yoruba...Oba is Yoruba language. If u also ask around the Palace, they have a place call Yoruba Quaters till today.

The Ogiso people are the aborigins of Benin while the descendant of the Oba is from Ife.

Till today, there's a ritual of purchase that must be done before a new Oba of Benin can be installed...

“The Ekiokpagha treaty is the compulsory rent a new Oba-elect must pay before he is pronounced an Oba of Benin kingdom and before he is also allowed occupation of the Benin kingdom leased to Oba Eweka 1 by Ogiamien Erebo in 12.00AD.” “The Ekiokpagha treaty clearly defined the status of Ogiamien as aborigine and permanent landlord while the Oba of Benin kingdom as a permanent tenant,”

The Oba of Oba of benin is from Ile Ife...hence the title Oba. The King title of the original Benin is Ogiso.

Oba of Benin from Ile Ife in your dreams

But notice how Benin dominate the ebtirw yoruba people

Give kudos to the Yoruba that founded up to 20 towns in Edo state. Anytime you're using the word "Benin" have it at the back of your mind you're using a Yoruba word. Even if you used it has your tribe.

As we may have it Benin wasn't organised or a powerful kingdom in the early times, in the beginning they were several villages who had Thier various leaders called ogiso they were several ogiso( sky kings) in the various settlement of Benin. at this time Benin was not one, the various settlement with their own ogiso existed independently. there were no one ruler, until a man called evian, killed a spiritual beast that had been disturbing the various villages surrounding Benin. which the various Ogiso heads couldn't handle and he found favour in the Benin community and the villagers came together to make him the oba of igodo. he ascended the throne as eweka the first
He was blessed with mystical powers and the people likened him as the son of a God, the Ogiso who refused to surrender their sovereignty where forced and the kingdom was formed, this several ogiso heads became chiefs in the new kingdom called ogidomigofo
Which later renamed as edo during oba ewaure reign and turned Benin during the Portuguese arrival who had corrupted Ile binu from the itsekiri warnings that had earlier told them not to venture into Benin City during their arrival and inquisition about the edo people
Years after eweka had died his son expanded the kingdom further Benin on several occasion
Lost some villages under the kingdom that had to be brought back through force, the king of the sea (ogiamen) was a powerful ruler who had ruled the river banks of Benin is territory was independent of Benin even when the Benin kingdom was long establish, oba ewakpe who was a conquerer had waged war on his kingdom that lasted for years but his kingdom was too strong to be defeated lots of lives was lost until an agreement was reached by the ogiamen that Benin would one day take over his territory which was a sure thing, because Benin was flourishing and expanding unlike his territory and that if they have to join Benin that the oba of Benin would respect is terms, and that every oba that ascends the throne would always come and buy his sovereignty from his family at every coronation in terms of paying homage and that if the contract is broken they can choose to live the kingdom, this practice continued for centuries until after Benin empire was brought down by the British and that tradition was stopped by the oba, the only way the ogiame family could use to attack the oba was by false acclimation Of his illegitimacy

Just the way the yoruba were brought into one canopy by awolowo during the formation of Nigeria so as evian who became the first oba of Benin united the kingdom

The Benin kingdom consist of the 36 Benin families

The Benin empire consist of lagos, ondo, ekiti, delta and Co....

The yorubas and other tribes that have issues with the oba of Benin would always use the screenshot to support their claims that the oba of Benin is a yoruba man, not until you ask them, if there is any trace of yoruba titles or names or even idols in the oba palace that can trace that the oba of Benin is a yoruba man, then they will be left dumbfounded
