Culture / How The Documentation From Oyo Formed The Formation Of The Yoruba Identity by gregyboy(m): 1:25pm On May 22, 2023 |
According to what the europeans documented from the oyo prople about ife in 1824, the oyo people referred to the ife people as strong idol worshipers unlike them, they saw the ife people as monks who were devoted to their idol worshipping and as such the oyo people revered and believed the ife people could be the centre of the world, for this single reason, it gave importance to ife town in the formation of yoruba history prior to amalgamation. There was no mention of the ooni in the documentation because as at that time they never knew if a person or title like that existed in the first place , awolowo was the one who made ooni of ife a king from a priest he was, according to the ife people the ooni was a mere priest who was a strong idol worshipper, then after amalgamation there was a need to unite all yoruba under one historical and political umbrella the history of oduduwa in ife becoming the father of all yoruba monarchy was born so as not to make any king a lesser king to the other they accepted direct migration From Ife to their new found kingdoms, and made a priest who was the ooni the traditional head .the history of oduduwa coming from mecca is as a result of yoruba muslim trying to seize ownership to oduduwa and oduduwa coming from benin is a mere tribal war which started in the western region that made the bendel people pull out of the then wester region The significant of the ife artworks before amalgamation, there was an international attention in 1910 when Leo Frobenius, a German ethnographer, discovered bronze in ife, this gave another reason among the yoruba tribes in accepting ife has a focal point in the formation of the new identity called yorubas, before the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914, which has already saw the discovery of ife art in 1910 |

Culture / The Basic Misconception About The Ancient Benin People by gregyboy(m): 9:10pm On May 09, 2023 |
Although there are still some Europeans who wrote the truth despite the widespread misconceptions about Benin, the benins did once take part in a gesture whereby they provided workers for the Portuguese in exchange for their good friendship to work as laborers in the Portuguese colony of Sao Tome and Principe. However, they only did this for the Portuguese and never for any other European country. the relationship between benin and Portuguese lasted for 200yrs from the 1400 to 1600, tho this gesture by the benins to the Portuguese never lasted that long before the benins ended it on the terms of morality the benins believed the souls of the people gifted without the people approval could bring bad omen to their land The Benins and the British had a rift not because the British intended to end slavery as they made us believe, the act already being a taboo in Benin, but rather to gain control of palm oil, and in 1700 Oba Adolo made a decree to officially punish Benin merchant who engaged in the act of slave trading illegal. Before the arrival of the first Europeans, the Portuguese, the benins controlled a large area of territories. The Portuguese refused to sell benin weapons on the grounds that it was a pagan nation, so benin never gained power as a result of Europeans or her trade with Europe merchants. not until the arrival of the Dutch in the 1600 who were willingly to exchange guns with benins for Benin local goods like pepper, ivory tusk, clothes, local wine, although the benin employed the help of European military assistance against her enemies in few occasions, the benins were wealthy because they were economically independent even when the European decided to sanction benin trades they saw the benin weren't really affected the only way to stop benin was to attack it to get full control of the Niger area now called Nigeria Samuk AreaFada2 UGBE634 2 Likes |
Culture / Another Reason Why The Benin Ife History Is A Lie by gregyboy(m): 8:56pm On May 09, 2023 |
In the past before the creation of Nigeria, tribes were very territorial and migration could only happen in mass to gain strength to to be able to fight if they ventured into an unknown territory, if you ventured into a territory as a looner you're likely to be killed or taking captive by people who you ventured into their territory even Europeans wrote on this and requested the Oba of benin soldiers to access the hinterland in their exploration The question is how did izoduwa venture as a looner from benin forest and passed several territores without him being caught.... And how did the yoruba people send their prince to rule benin with just few messengers who could easily be outnumbered by people from territories they came across with while coming to benin, if they sent an army how come the army presence wasn't felt in the benin palace, no names of yoruba chiefs, no name of bashorun balogun in the palace or benin history My point still stand benin and ife never had a relationship and the forgery of oduduwa of an history in benin. Happened after 1914, when oba Eweka sort political alliance with the the ooni of ife during the indirect rule system of government, and the the history of oduduwa coming from Ife to benin history was formed to identify oba eweka11, of benin. as an oduduwa son, after some years in the western region benin sort out to leave the western region, because of tribal attack by yoruba leaders accusing edo people and oba of benin as not a true son of oduduwa that the Oba of benin couldn't speak yoruba, but yet he held second position after the ooni of ife, and when the benins finally pulled out of the region the story of izoduwa was born by the benins to write the forged history that was being promoted to insult the benin people and her monarchy Samuk AreaFada2 UGBE634 1 Like |

Culture / The Title Is Called Omo N'oba And Not Oba by gregyboy(m): 10:08am On Feb 06, 2023 |
It is wrong to call the Oba of benin just the word oba, very wrong oba is the short form the European used to describe his original title Which is omo n' oba, omo n' oba on the other hand is also a short form the benin people use to refer to the omo n'oba of benin the full title Is Omo n’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo meaning "The child that shines shines or come through for the edo people and the giant being" If you hear anyone using the title oba of benin always know it is wrong and inappropriate and was a short form the European used to describe the Oba in their document the short form reconginse by the edos is omo n' oba which can be pronounced as omo no' ba Further more the yorubas are using the wrong title to describe themselves and their kings this is quiet understanding because the word oba is alien to the yorubas OGIE Ogie has many prefix from different edoid clan, ogie is a general word for kingship regardless of the position be it enogie, onogie, Ovie, ogie could be liking to the word Government regardless of the position be it a governor, president or a local government chairman, we can say an ogie is coming and could be refering to an enogie who is a Duke and we can also say an ogie is coming, and we could be refering to the omo n'oba of benin when we say ogie we mean royalty which are dukes, kings prince just like the word government OBA Oba like I said is the short form used by Europeans to refer to the omo n'oba of benin No one in the entire kingdom or empire bears the title, the names in benin who has prefix with the word oba, like obaseki, obasohan were personal confered titles made by the Oba of benin to honor the person, it is forbidden to use the word oba without being confered by the Oba in the entire empire and this is the reason you cannot find the word oba as a prefix name in the entire empire but rather ogie which could be liking to the word government or royalty UGBE634 AreaFada2 Samuk Davidnaze 2 Likes |
