Lampard is the king of first time pass, Modric is not visionless. That's all folks! |
obailala:Kanu and IPOB are fighting for a well defined course - a secession, please tell, what course were/are the Boko Haram sect fighting for? |

IB free this argument abeg. Stats lie and will continue to lie. That on paper Modric sucks in assists doesn't mean he's visionless. You don play footie, i am still knocking the round leather game, you and I know quite well that Modric has what it takes to deliver that killer first time pass and assist players. If this is Oscar you're talking about, I go kuku shush but man this is Luka Modric we're talking about - a talented wizard. |
tohpahz:But boo I did the confession na, I'm in no position to say what happens next. Wait. . .we move into the bedroom to do some yoga on the bed? |
Chelsea haven’t been as busy as in the transfer window as their fans would perhaps have liked given their league position but one player who seems certain to come in is Alexandre Pato. The former AC Milan striker is on the verge of completing a loan deal back to Europe from Corinthians and it is going to be interesting to see how interim Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink uses the Brazilian. Most have assumed that Pato is merely coming in as back-up to Diego Costa whose form has really started to pick up under Hiddink. However, during his time in Brazil Pato has shown great versatility about where he can play. Couple this with the fact that Willian is the only attacking player to have consistently performed well this season for Chelsea and Pato may actually be given far more game time than most seem to be envisaging. Here are three ways the Blues could line-up with Pato in their team. On the left-wing Probably the position actually best suited to Pato given where he’s been playing his best football during his time in Brazil. By playing on the left rather than up-front Pato is given more time and space to run into which is key. One of his biggest assets as a player is his pace which he retains even despite the injury problems he has had to endure. If he plays up front he won’t always get space to use that pace, particularly when teams drop deep to defend against Chelsea but on the left he will able to run at his full-back or cause more problems by cutting inside. He’s got quick feet and a fantastic shot, much like another left-winger who is struggled Chelsea at Chelsea at the moment, and if Eden Hazard’s form doesn’t pick up any time he could find his place under threat from Pato once the Brazilian reaches full match fitness. In the hole By the same degree if Chelsea want to create a bit more space for Pato to exploit they could play him in the No.10 role, just off Costa. The theory behind this is that Costa can push the central defenders back with his probing runs and that will leave space for Pato to run into. He’s a different No.10 to the current first choice, Cesc Fabregas, he’ll look to take his man on more and take a shot rather than thread a pass like the Spaniard. That’s not to say that he won’t pass, he has that ability, but he’ll definitely offer more of a goal threat. That actually might be what Chelsea need given how much they’ve struggled for goals this season. Yes, Costa is scoring more now but Fabregas, Oscar and Hazard have failed to contribute and it can all be down to Willian and Costa. Bringing Pato into the side will give Chelsea something different and given some of the goals he’s scored in Brazil Chelsea’s shooting from distance might start becoming more potent. On top of this by playing Pato in this position the formation can quickly be turned into a 4-4-2 if the situation requires and playing Costa with a partner could be just what he needs. Up-front Of course it’s unlikely that Pato will spend the next six months at Chelsea without playing up front at least once and this will arguably be the most interesting tactical decision for Hiddink. Pato won’t offer a fraction of Costa’s physical presence but he’s trickier than the Brazilian and would be a handful for defenders in a different way. One thing that might work in Pato’s advantage over Costa is that he’s more likely to make runs for the midfielders to find. This is something that Costa was doing with regularity last season but has been missing all too much this year. The sending off of Per Mertesacker in the Arsenal game and his assist against Crystal Palace for Oscar are just two example of that coming back but with his superior pace Pato is likely to make more runs. The worry of course would be whether or not he will be able to cope with the physical nature of the Premier League but Sergio Aguero seems to cope pretty well although he is a far superior player to Pato. Miazga is set to put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Stamford Bridge on Friday, after leaving the US training camp where he was preparing for friendlies against Iceland and Canada. How good is this guy? |
Well. . . |
Ibime:Modric isn't just about controlling the ebb and flow of the match expertly. He also possesses that outstanding vision only that they are delivered occasionally. If you failed to see Rakitic's game at Sevilla then you missed out on some good stuffs. Back then he naturally played ambitious passes. For Barca he's playing a different role, more restricted in terms of both his positioning and distribution. I honestly don't fancy KDB in my midfield, he doesn't cut it for me. I love my No10 to be hugely authoritative in possession, intelligent enough to play a number of midfield roles and adapt to the tactical circumstances of the game. KDB is only famed for his passes, he's not complete. The boy suppose dey learn work for Kroos, Rakitic and Modric hand. |
ronald4lif:I've got few rebuttal to drop but I guess sticking to the Saturday plan will be ideal. bqlekan:To avoid discrepancies, bringing in religion into the discourse will be important. I'll have a thread created on Saturday and it will go by the name "Big bang or God?". Ronald what says you? |
Ibime:Damn right, Pirlo is up there with the best first time pass ninjas, same as the other fellas there. I believe you saw Rakitic at Sevilla, he isn't just about the possessional play. Kroos and Modric are neither new to the skill too. These are guys who play with their head up. They study their surrounding and the weight of their pass. In truth, virtually every midfielder can hit the first time pass, all you need is that good good vision and sublime control. |
sephia:It's quite obvious that Falcao doesn't have a future with us. He's just on a borrowed time. Mikel? I believe summer will decide his fate. |
Boys like you are naive victims who need protection from their own ignorance. When you were having unprotected sex, were you hoping to land an Oscar award or pregnancy? Gold Circle is sold for how much? |
Grown men reveling in inane arguments and names calling. |
Ibime:Kroos, Modric, Rakitic and Fabregas are well capable of replicating that 'feat'. |
ronald4lif:I've always seen the nebula hypothesis to be a naturalistic conjecture. It's one theory that can't even explain how the sun, stars and other planets came to be. To form the sun, or any star, a cloud must be dense enough to collapse and compress the interior so that it becomes hot enough for nuclear fusion to start. Even if by chance the sun and the planets were formed by a collapsing nebula, why then is the sun not spinning in the same plane as the planets? Why is its axis tilted 7. 167 º away from the ecliptic? Thisame theory predicts a prograde motion for all planets but we have Venus traveling in an opposite direction (retrograde). Inconsistency I say ![]() |
John Stones looks like he's in need of Van Gaal's management. What went wrong with this kid? His defending lately have been horrendous. £40m? C'mon Chels, we are better off bringing back Huth to the bridge. |
Planeta Deporte says we're ready to capitalize on Carvajal's frustration of not getting enough game time and could make a move this summer. |
Ibime:Are we going to see him dislodge Hazard? I'll tell you no. Pato is certainly here to be Costa's understudy, that is a fact he needs to embrace. If Sterling and Walcot with their body frames can feature as forwards, how much more Pato. Make him no dull oo. |
Pato is a low risk signing. No fuss about the move. Can we see a new CM now? Ajax have got a talent. |
sephia:C'mon Bluediva, Ramires has been lucky to be with us all these years. A man whose first touch looked more like a short pass, a man who'd never heard the words 'good football' before in his life, a man who should be doing those bleeding Quorn mince ads instead of Mo Farah. His passing was about as good as his English. Im fairly sure he's the only Brazilian alive who can't perform a step-over, so why on earth is it so hard to see him leave? I've always deemed him good to feature as a squad player but then again keeping such tool would only discourage the board from searching for a new CM. I wish him best of luck in China and hope he keeps running. |
Ibime:Baba we got Dan Petrescu to thank for this move. I heard he's going to be Ramires' new boss. Rambo moving at £25m is certainly a case of once a blue helping the blues. |
SunnyBlaze1:Interesting. I'll read that up. Thanks. |
JigsawKillah:Good to know. I'm currently battling with a project at work and I'm yet to make out time to register, but then, I hope to have that done by next week. I'll like to be in touch with you. Pls drop a mail at Iammcsinclair@gmail.com Thanks. |
I'll like to know if registration of courses have commenced and if the deadline date has been set. Anyone? |
tohpahz:Boo I am actually new to this crush thingy. What happens next after one must have confessed his feelings? |
Manager of the week? I'll take that. |
Good half I must say. Everything seems to be working for us, we can only hope to build on this lead. |
nateevs:You can say that again. |
Costa is back in business We're having these ninnies for lunch ![]() |
Bimffo:The only swinging wey I sabi na wife swapping ![]() |
bigkesh:You get time for these forum heavyweights. Jorge Mendes have already rubbished the claim. |
