Nihilist: ![]() |
Ibime:Simon Fleck or something, I read much about him in the Chelsea biography I bought years ago. He was a prolific forward at Norwich but failed to live up to billing at the bridge. Whenever the list of our flopped strikers is brought out, the ninja's name is always there. Alot musta been expected of him. Cuadrado says Hi ![]() |
Ibime:It is quite strange seeing these lot getting this recognition ![]() I cant believe we once accomodated wastemen like Miniero and Tal Ben Him. A lot was said about the latter during his days at Bolton though, some neophytes considered him to be the Israeli Baresi. What have you got on Benayoun, SWP, Fleck, Parker and Mutu? They were not just here or there. |
Why don't we do lists of Chelsea flops? Damn me! Torres and Shevchenko would be spear-heading my attack ![]() |
Dhelake:I doubt if he's getting games at Fenerbache to start with. The figures RVP reeled out while in England were impressive, so that should stand in place of his resume ![]() And I think it is quite out of place to compare Falcao's woes to RVP's. One was strung-out by an ACL injury for nearly a year while the other is simply aging. |
Dhelake:RVP can offer us depth in the striking department. He's one player with a remarkable conversion rate, he isn't profligate in front of goal, that's what his game is made of. I'll definitely pick him ahead of Falcao at the moment. Adebayor? Well Adebayor. . . |
Given Costa has managed only seven goals in 10 months - 4 in 17 games this season - the need for reinforcements is clear. Falcao is no longer a player and Remy have been reduced to a bit-part role often spent on the flank. We can't have good net busters like Aubameyang, Vardy or even Griezmann now, no club would love to lose their focal point at this stage, so that leaves us with the option of a short-term fix. Adebayor is currently a free agent, whilst RVP hasn't settled in Turkey. We can have either of the duo on loan. What says you lot. |
Chelseafan1:I didn't speak with Jose but if you're a good scholar of the game then it's quite easy to arrive at that conclusion. By allowing the player to take risk, to act on his own when placed under pressure and most importantly to play the simple 1-2 pass, you allow him to become more comfortable on the ball thereby gaining confidence by solving the situation on his own. Cliched lines like "When you're in trouble, kick it out" or "Shoot at sight" isn't going to help our players' morale at the moment, they need to build some confidence and with 'minnows' like Norwich and Maccabi calling, we had the chance to train on TV. Although our possessional play last night was carried out in a slightly less aesthetically pleasing way, it sure had its effect on the players. |
We only need a point to win our group, make una stop to dey peddle megedefegede for here. |
Jose is merely rolling out this possession footie against not-too-good sides like Norwich and Maccabi so as to restore the team's confidence. We need to build a strong cohesion having gone through a bad patch, and this is how you do it. I'm sure it's back to counter-attack against Spuds this weekend, so stay calm y'all. |
Willian reincarnating Dinho's skills in Israel. |
It's obvious we're training, based on possession, this game has cease to be a contest ![]() |
Tiki-taka business! Could this be the identity nateevs have been clamoring for? Cahill scores!!!! |
Rotation is the way to go, play some and rest some. Good to see Azpi starting at right-back and Rahman at the left. Cahill and Oscar gets a run tonight too. |
Return of the 4-3-3! |
PietroRico:I've been neutral on that issue. That said, I'll have Hazard in the hole over Mata anyday anytime. |
So Hazard personally requested that he start in the hole against Stoke and Norwich? Good thinking from the Belgian I must say. He had no defensive duties to worry about, had no drifting inside to do and had no RB and RM closing on him. He was so much involved in the game, enjoying a free role and was orchestrating proceedings on the final third for us. Hazard is the man who fvcks men up in the hole, I hope to see more of him there. |
Ibime:There lies the fact. |
SIRcumalot:Except that he is not a defensive midfielder. Give him the license to man your midfield and watch as he dominates play from start to finish. Make no mistake about it, there are few Toni kroos out there are, most midfield players these days are mainly runners. |
Ibime:It all boils down to the manager in charge. Benitez haven't been working hard enough to unleash the beasts in his players. Not just Kroos, ninjas like Ronaldo, Modric, Benzema, Bale etc have all been a shadow of themselves. Under Carlo's watch, Kroos had the most impressive pass completion rate of all the players in La Liga to have played more than four games. He also won 70% of his tackles, provided three assists, created 15 chances and made five interceptions, despite being deployed as a holding midfielder. It is obvious Rafa isn't getting few things right. |
Say all you got to say about Kroos, truth remains he's one of the finest midfielders the world has ever had. This is one ninja who understands what midfield play is all about. A ninja who doesn't necessarily have to run around with the ball, a ninja whose vision and possessional play dwarfs every other ninja's meagre skills. He didn't lose the game for Madrid, Benitez did. |
Chelseafan1:Welcome to the mysterious world of the round leather game ![]() |
