yes when going out to any country for an official visit its important you do your research but GEJ is not alone in this mistake. Oprah winfrey made the same mistake last week when she went to india with her show. She went to an indian home, met the people eating with their hands and she made a statement that sent the whole country into anger. The statement insinuated that the people are backward poor and have no access to cheap things like cutleries.

my friends want me to become catholic. I have been following them to their church recently and to be honest i like their style of worship. I have been studying their devotional 'the word among us' and its really insightful. Pope benedict xvi is another one i admire. His ability to handle pressure and his intellectual capacity has made me want to make him my role model. I attend winners at present and my people are anti catholic. So what do you think?

@kobojunkie if you take a good look at my def of culture and put it up against your reply to my post, you will come to see that you have deviated from your people's culture if your orientation, customs, custume, manners and mannerisms etc are not the same with that of your people. But i understand why you may be asking all these questions. We back home tend to see you abroad in a particular light when it comes to culture. But that you have taken on another orientation, manners and mannerisms, philosophy and ideology etc dosent mean you are a bad person although its good if you stay in touch with your root. Culture is shaped by experiences and your experience changes when you change location. So its ok if you take on another way of life.
