Well I’ve decided to move on. If he has value in me then, I shouldn’t have to worry about the property, as he would simply do the needful. Either way I’ve come this far without him. God no go shame us.

If you're his only child, you have the rights to that house before anyone else, after him. What he says can't change that.
Regardless of what he says or what you have or build for yourself in the future, that house is your inheritance, so don't give it up because of pride.

He can say whatever he wants, you didn't ask to be born, so the rights to inherit his property is yours first whether he likes it or not.
So, if it is offered to you, take it. If it is taken away from you unjustly when he's gone, fight for it. It's yours!

My job is based abroad and fully remote.

Reached out to him when I was 15-17yrs. The number became permanently on voicemail. He almost rented out the house twice while I lived there without my knowledge. My aunt discouraged him.

I resent him because he was invisible and I don’t connect with him. He barely knows me.

Imagine if he had rented out the house or I didn’t get a job, I would’ve been in the villa with a secondary school cert.

Relocation should not result in giving up the property. Also know that abuja is not cheap and building costs time and money. So do not be in a haste to throw away what you already have.
If it is going to be empty, you can do minor renovation and put up for rent.

I can renovate but my dad won’t let me rent the property. He doesn’t even let me access the shop attached to the house. So you get the gist

I’m not close to my dad, I was raised by a single mum till she passed away when I was 16.

My dad has been abroad since I can remember. But I still live in his house, with my cousins. My dad and I hardly talk, we can go 6 months no calls. So I see him as a stranger mostly. I can’t connect.

I have a really good job now. I have like N10M saved up, and earn about N2M monthly.

My plan is to relocate to Abuja and build my house, but my family members and friends thinks I would be foolish to just give up the property in Lagos with no conflict with my dad, as I have lived in the house with my mum my whole life.

But when I was younger he made it clear that this is his house and actually I don’t have access to the papers even.

But also I’m 25 now, I need to be a man after all my dad came to Lagos with nothing and built his house, I should do the same and cut off from him. That’s my only argument.

Is it foolish giving up this property worth about N45M.

If I could, I would. Your act of charity doesn't have to be grandeur... That 1000 naira in your pocket might be the miracle that someone needs. That extra pair of shoes you have got would put a smile on somebody's face. That leftover jollof rice or bowl of soup in your freezer might be the miracle that that widow next door needs... Do you get my point?

I know what it feels like to be profoundly hungry with no help in sight, I wanted to know how you identified people that genuinely needed the money and actually put the funds to good use.

The only payback I want is to see that the person become self-sustained and help others.

I dont like iphones. Even if I have spare money in billions, I still won't use an iPhone. Why should I use up to half a million to get a vain device when that same amount can be used to alleviate a family from poverty, train a child from nursery to university, empower 10 people to learn a skill (which invariably means 10 families off the poverty radar), set up 5 women for petty trading...?

Have you done something like this before? Setting up petty trade for 5 women
