Discordant tunes, this is what happens when the police are not allowed to do their job.

Why not create another thread about other coups that followed? This is about the 1st coup in case you've forgotten.
Of course, because in your opinion everything happened in isolation to each other. The first coup and others had zero connection to each other.
Some patriotic Nigerian officers woke up one day and decided to change the government, six months later some other patriotic Nigerian officers decided to overthrow the first set. All the other coups were led by patriotic Nigerian soldiers trying to save the country. Ok.

Iamgrey5:
It was not particularly an Igbo coup because majority of the average Igbos on the street were not in on the conspiracy.

But It was designed in such a way that it favoured Igbo elites at the expense of the elites from other part of Nigeria. This is aspect no one can deny.
Exactly, but what about the other coups that followed? Were they Hausa/Fulani coups?
PoliticsRe: Philip Effiong: Ironsi Exposed My Dad To Coup Plotters - Ojukwu’s Deputy’s Son by Guestlander: 1:59pm On Aug 04, 2019

This is mind blowing.

1966 maybe a coup led by majority Igbos officers but it is unfair to call it an Igbo coup.
Unfair in the sense that ibos in general did not have a meeting where they decided to forcefully change the government. But based on the same logic we can conclude that all the other subsequent coups were not Northern or Hausa/Fulani coups, but we know that is not true.

Of course, the 1966 coup was not an Igbo coup. The officers who planned it said they wanted to foist Awolowo The Great in power. But they should have retired and campaigned for Awolowo instead of trying to install him through coup.
Ifeanyi Ifeajuna, Wale Ademoyega, Kaduna Nzeogwu.
Ifeajuna was not planning to install Awolowo. I read somewhere he had some kind of relationship with Azikiwe and that he probably alerted Azikiwe to the plans. This is why Azikiwe was conveniently away for medical reasons when the coup happened.
It was indeed an Igbo coup.
The only thing I don't understand is why Ironsi did not ensure the deputy prime minister was sworn in since the coup failed. He quickly took over and started making blunders after blunders.

Atleast they have a working system that can be held responsible even though the lives can't be recovered but those who are responsible for the deadly act will not go unpunished...am just making a comparison to the killings in Nigeria where no arrest has been made.
A working system that doesn't protect you from being shot while doing some mundane things like shopping with your family?
Arresting the shooters doesn't compensate for the lives lost. It is meant to be a deterrent for would be shooters but as you can see, this is not working.

My brother, I have personally lived in the US, and I was held up at gun point on two occasions, shot at once, and had my apartment door flattened by an intended gun-toting assassin, mad that I'd snatched his babe. Luckily I was out. All this in just a space of 3 years. Anybody who says Nigeria is dangerous while praising American 'safety' is just...deluded.
I am completely with you on this. Only people who have never been to the States will think differently. Chicago is like a war zone. I don't even think the gun crimes are reported any more.
PoliticsRe: Should The FG Now Issue Travel Advisory Warnings For Nigerians Visiting The US? by Guestlander: 2:41am On Aug 04, 2019
Absolutely, the ministry of external affairs should issue regular security warnings for intending visitors to the United States. Nigerian lives are precious too.

speak all the grammar you know, America is the most dangerous place on earth. The crime taking place in New York is more than the whole Africa continent. America has more people in prison than Africa and China combined together. Stop allowing western propaganda to fill your head with lies. In reality Somalia and Sudan are far better than America
God bless you jare. Any place where people are regularly shot dead is a dangerous place.
America based on statistics is far more dangerous than Nigeria.
Whether the perpetrators are arrested or not is irrelevant. It doesn't do anything for the dead.

PoliticsRe: Yinka Odumakin: No Army Can Stop Yorubas When They Are Ready To Fight by Guestlander:

We are talking about the Yoruba nation here. Is the black scorpion the Yoruba nation? Or is Victor Banjobtye Yoruba nation?

Yoruba as a nation cannot fight for their sovereignty. They may have one or two commanders like Adekunle and Obasanjo but that's about it. But as a nation, Yorubas dont have the stuff required to rise up and fight.

It is Igbos that can rise up, declare their independence and sovereignty as Biafrans, take up arms and rally behind Ojukwu to fight for 3 years to keep that sovereignty

That is the stuff of fighters

That is something the Yoruba nation can never do in a thousand years, to fight and defend their sovereignty

But if it is to defend noise making, I can give them that one
No wonder someone said you are semi literate. This is coming from someone whose army was led by a very capable and intelligent Yoruba man.

In modern day Nigeria, Yorubas dont have the backbone to fight for their own independence nation like Igbos once fought for Biafra.

There are things that Yorubas are good at, rising up to fight Nigeria for their sovereignty like Ignos once did is beyond Yorubas.

They are simply not made of that stuff. That's why they keep saying that Ojukwu ran away, to divert attention from the fact that 0jukwu did what no Yoruba man can ever do. To rise up and declare the independence and sovereignty of his people and fight Nigeria for for 3 years to keep it is no small feat.

A Yoruba can never ever do it. But if it is noise making, it will a simple feat
Remember the Black Scorpion, they are super made for that stuff. Remember Victor Banjo, though a Yoruba but led the Biafran army, they are made for that stuff. If they weren't you wouldn't be licking your wounds 50 years after the event.
Be careful what you wish for. Wars are not fought with mouth and chest beating. We have seen that before when Ojukwu said he had the largest army in Africa. He ended up eating akpu and ofe nsala under Houphouet boigny's bed.

Yorubas are cowards, babangida onces said" if a Yoruba man blows the trumpet of war, he will wake up and go back to sleep.
Fiction, Babangida never said so. Fact, Ojukwu ran away when confronted with more violence than the ibos have ever seen.
The only successful outings by the Biafrans were led by a Yoruba, another fact.

it is on record , Igbos fought a full Military full of northern soldiers, middle belt soldiers ,Yoruba soldiers with their foreign Collaborators, Britain , Soviet Union, Egyp, Arab World, Cameroon, Niger , Chad, Sudan, Ireland, East Germany etc for more than 30 Months inflicting very deadly injuries on Nigerian Military and their Soldiers, Igbos wiped out the second Division twice and destroyed 99% of the 3rd Marind Commndo . No other group or tribe no matter the audacity can venture into this no matter the provocation
The Biafran confrontation was basically done within one year, the rest was a slow grinding hunger and deaths in millions.
War is terrible, nothing fanciful about it. It is so painful that 50 years on even people who were no born then are still feeling the effects.

As an Igbo man, I laugh when I hear Yorubas talk of war. A Yoruba man who has never fought the federal government will say that Ojukwu who fought for 3 years to free his people is a coward.

Somebody who has never fought is calling somebody who fought for 3 years a coward

Wonders shall never end

Yorubas dont have the backbone to fight like Igbos did, only good at making noise about fighting
Biafra was the only military confrontation in the history of ibos and they lost woefully.
A coward is anyone who runs from a fight and that is exactly what Ojukwu did quite ignominiously.
