You are absolutely correct that Yorubas will fight back. There's only one thing I don't understand about this report. The herdsmen were not reported to be grazing on any farm, they were not reported to have any cows with them.
They just launched an unprovoked attack on the gentlemen coming from their farms.
I believe there's more to these attacks than just herdsmen, I believe some people are deliberately trying to start a civil war.
