Human rights group, Centre for the
Vulnerable and the Underprivileged, Centrep, has
commended the President-elect, General
Muhammadu Buhari (retd), for moving against
pension for former governors.

This came as another rights group, Civil Rights
Realization and Advancement Network, said the
move would save government money that could be
deployed to areas of benefit to the people.
According to the group, the move will reduce
prohibitive cost of governance in the country, if
successfully achieved.

Executive Director of the group, Mr. Oghenejabor
Ikimi, also suggested that the new crop of
legislators to be inaugurated in the new political
dispensation on May 29 2015, should repeal the
appropriate laws empowering the doling out of
such
public funds to the former governors.

He said: “Sincerely speaking, General Muhammadu
Buhari’s move against pension for ex-governors is
highly commendable. This is because if we want to
rank amongst the developed nations of the world
come 2020, then, we must jettison the prohibitive
cost of governance nationwide.”

The three Orekoya kids, Demola; Adedamola and
Aderomola, who were declared missing recently are
now confirmed to have been found and reunited with
their parents in Lagos.
This was made known to the public after Adebisi
Orekoya, mother of the three children, took to
Facebook to thank Nigerians for their support and
prayers.
In her words, “We give God all the Glory. Our
Orekoya missing Kids have been found.Thank you
so much everyone for ur prayers and moral and
Financial support all along. The list is endless, of
awesome mothers, sisters, business partners,
father’s and even kids too. You’ve been amazing!

The children, Demola,6; Adedamola, 4, and
Aderomola, 11 months, were abducted by their
househelp, one Mary Akinloye, 24 hours after she
was employed by the family via OLX, an online sales
portal, with an agreement of N10,000 to N15,000
monthly salary.
Akinloye, who claimed to be 23 years old and hailed
from Ibadan, Oyo State, according to the family,
resumed work on March 7, when the former nanny
did not show up after her annual leave.

A woman has told the BBC that the Chibok girls
abducted by militant Islamists in Nigeria last year
were seen alive three weeks ago. She said that
she saw the girls in the north-eastern Gwoza
town before the Boko Haram militants were driven
out of there by regional forces.
Boko Haram sparked global outrage when it seized
more than 219 girls from Chibok town a year ago.
The US, China and other foreign powers promised
to help find the girls.

The Nigerian woman, who lived under Boko
Haram’s rule in Gwoza, told the BBC she saw the
girls in Islamic attire, being escorted by the
militants.
“They said they were Chibok girls kept in a big
house,” said the woman, who asked not to be
identified for fear of reprisals.
“We just happened to be on the same road with
them,” she added.
Three other women also told the BBC they had
seen the girls in Gwoza.

Another woman told the BBC she last saw some of
the girls in November at a Boko Haram camp in
Bita village, also in the north-east.
“About a week after they were brought to the
camp, one of us peeked through a window and
asked: ‘Are you really the Chibok girls?’ and they
said: ‘Yes’. We believed them and didn’t ask them
again,” the woman said.

“They took Koranic lessons, cleaned their
compound, cooked for themselves and they
braided each others’ hair. They were treated
differently – their food [was] better and water
clean. “

kidnapped. There’s an update now the kidnappers
got in touch with the family and they are
negotiating the boys’ release.
Sincerely, this is an experience no mother ever
wants to live. You can’t even imagine the trauma
this family is going through right now.

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega, has been
recognised for his pivotal role in the recently
conducted elections.
United States President, Barack Obama has
awarded Jega with a ‘Certificate of Commendation’
for conducting a credible election.
The certificate was presented to Jega on behalf of
Obama by the US Ambassador to Nigeria, James
Entwistle.

congregation on Sunday 11th March 2012.

The Naira fell back 0.46
percent to 217 against the dollar on Wednesday, a
black market dealer has said. There has been a
decrease in demand for dollars as opposed to the
pre-election hysteria on the parallel market.

The main shares index rose 8.4 percent as
financial markets in Nigeria witnessed the non-
violent outcome of the closely contended
elections.The currency opened at 197 to the
dollar, which it had traded at since February, after
the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) pegged the rate.

Ayodeji Ebo , head of research at Afrinvest, stated
that the peaceful conclusion of the election has
calmed the fears of foreign investors concerning
the market. “Investors were waiting on the
sidelines to see election concluded in a peaceful
manner. So everyone is taking positions now
while those that are in are not willing to sell,” he
said.

The index currently stands at 34,400
points, extending gains to a ninth successive
session. Thus making it the longest winning streak
this year following the peaceful handover.

Not fewer than ten people died in
a.ghastly motor accident with several others
injured in the northers trouble state of Borno while

General Buhari’s victory at the March 28, 2015
Presidential elections.
Our Correspondent gathered that, corpses and
victims from different locations in the state were
taken to the Specialists Hospital on Wednesday.
Speaking to members of the Borno state vigilante
group popularly called Civilian JTF who identified
himself as Bulama Gana, some of the victims were
taken to the specialists hospital. He added that,
they have been warning the youths against taking
hard drugs and over-speeding in the name of
celebrating Buhari’s victory, but they would not
listen.

Bulama said, “Most of them were influenced by
drugs. We have even arrested some for driving
carelessly and over-speeding. Buhari’s victory is
not about madness. I think the authorities should
do something about it and there should be law and
order. This is just the announcement of the
presidential result. I do not know what they are
going to do when the General is to be sworn-in
come May 29.”

A staff of the hospital, Elijah Pindar said, several of
the victims who were being admitted at the
Orthopedic ward were injured while celebrating. ” I
don’t know why people should go to that extent as
to taking their own lives for someone who may not
even know or heard of their supportive efforts in
any way. To me, it makes no sense. Of course,
one
can be happy but not in such madly manner as
they
are expressing and causing death. It is really
unfortunate and sad.”
