shymexx: That's the truth. They always build them up to destroy them.
Just look at how everyone's coming out from nowhere to talk about cases that happened 30 years ago. C'mon son! Bill Cosby, The Mr. Perfect Negro, now the biggest rapist of all time - you definitely can't make this shiit up!
As a black person, you just always have to be conscious of ya skin and no matter ya achievement, you're still a negro on these streets.
Anyway, Lisa Bonet still looks fine as fvck. We've seen this movie severally so I aint suprised. These priviledged black folks always think they've joined the exclusive white mans world and tow the uncle Tom line. A negro remains a negro. Aint seen Lisa Bonet in years, what's she being up to? I almost jeezed myself many years ago when I saw her in Angel Heart with Mickey Rourke . |

shymexx: Yes, it's crazy.
I've been following it, and it seems he's guilty as hell since he has refused to address it.
I honestly don't feel sorry for him...that's what all these uppity black folks who worship white people always get. They build them up to destroy them.
That's what Paul Mooney called, "the negro wake up card." Bill Cosby will NEVER recover from this - his image has been tarnished forever.
And we all grew up watching The Cosby Show - sad!
Isn't it shocking that no black person has come out to support him? Shame on him Just like Tiger Woods, these uppity black folks have an obsession with white folks who'll ultimately destroy them, see how they all came running out with allegations dating as far back as 1969. I hate DR Fuxtable right now!!! |

EnlightenedSoul: I never said I don't like the culture Implying my dislike of an entire culture is going wayyy too far, and is unseemly, especially considering my unfamiliarity. Culture is culture. It's natural to favor or disfavor aspects of it when it's one's own, same as when it's not. But yes, the practice is alien to me and I suspect my 'strong' opinion (that surprised you) is largely based on my own culture, and how we view the act.
How are you 2day? A sort of culture clash it is then but its all good anyway . No knowledge is lost, at least I learnt kneeling is viewed differently in your culture... maybe it'll come in handy someday. I'm good today, I hope you are. |
Romance › Re: Ladies, Can You Go On Your Knees Before Your Man To Apologise? by GuyFawkes: 2:50pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
EnlightenedSoul: Fawkes, if a custom is practiced to a level in a country, or by a certain group(s) in that country, it will certainly have a different tint to it for anyone outside those groups/countries/cultures where that practice isn't found. Yes, the question involved spouses and partners, but it's also based on a culture and societal practice. If the question was on praying-mantis-style Chinese bowing, and the OP asked "would you do this for your spouse?", the responses would reflect the outlandish view of it from the outsider masses i.e NL'ers.
That's the beauty of culture. Ok agreed. Guess you don't like the culture then since its kinda alien to you. I haven't gone through the comments so I don't know where the opinion of NLers swings. |

EnlightenedSoul: I'd say it has everything to do with culture, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on how it doesn't.
That's because it is...to me. I'm sure a lot of that stems from culture as well. Not really Miss-E This discussion involves partners or spouses, and I don't know of any african culture that insists you must kneel before your husband/wife. The topic says would you kneel to apologise to your husband/wife. |

EnlightenedSoul: On the contrary, it seems people on this thread are getting castigated for not kneeling.
@ Are you shocked by something I said? Pardon me for contradicting myself but its a complex issue, it has nothing to do with culture though. Yeah you make the very essence of kneeling sound 'ridiculous', like it will diminish your character. I'm indifferent about the whole issue tbh and I wouldn't want anybody kneeling to apologise to me. |
Romance › Re: Ladies, Can You Go On Your Knees Before Your Man To Apologise? by GuyFawkes: 1:37pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
EnlightenedSoul: Fawkes, the word "sorry" in itself requires ridiculous amounts of this thing called 'humility' you speak of Honestly I don't even know what to say. Yes SORRY itself takes a lot of humility! Kneeling is that persons decision only. Its not like I support it but neither should the person be castigated for kneeling...I don't see anything demeaning or subservient about it. In my tribe though women often kneel to greet elder ones as a sign of respect. |

Politics › Re: Bode George As Jimi Agbaje’s Godfather Is Bad For Lagos by GuyFawkes: 1:07pm On Nov 16, 2014 |
seunmsg: Ambode retired as the Accountant General of Lagos state and not Auditor General.
@OP, if you are truly very conversant with the politics of Lagos, then you will realise that the political structure of PDP in the state is not strong enough to defeat APC. The little chance that PDP have in the coming election is to exploit the in fighting in APC. And for them to exploit this chance, they need a very credible and popular candidate that will appeal to Lagosians as a technocrat. The only serious PDP candidate that wears that technocrat toga is Jimi Agbaje. Obanikoro is your usual Nigerian politician who just want to occupy any political office, he has little or nothing to offer. Lagosians can't entrust the leadership of the state into the hand of such a political flip-flop. Agbaje stand a better chance of getting elected than Obanikoro. My bad Accountant-General I meant. I agree with some of your points, PDP doesn't have a functioning machinery in the grassroots in Lagos State so whichever candidate they come up with might still lose. But I tend to believe Obanikoro has a fighting chance than Agbaje so PDP might support him. Agbaje is still new to the party and moreover where is the machinery he used in running the 2007 campaign where he finishes a distant third? GEJ is more likely to give Koro financial backing . I wouldn't trust Bode George to deliver the party funds to Agbaje at all even if it was provided. 2007 Bode George and Ashorobi just withheld the funds OBJ provided since they knew ACN was going to carry the day hence the factionalising of Lagos PDP from thereon. |

Inbreeding- its not even an ethical issue, that sh1t just stinks. Leave the royal families to their inbreeding, i'm sure when they can't get some diseases outta their genes from generation to generation they'll go full mode into marrying regular folks.

So, in your own universe, a self-defense force isn't a military, no? Especially one with enormous capabilities, that's more sophisticated than all the military in Africa put together, with an aircraft carrier, a modern navy that's the best in Asia, a modern air force, and a very strong ground force? I think people are getting confused by the 'Defence Force' label of the Japanese army. Israels army is called the Israeli Defence Force, and since its formation it has done more attacking than 'defending' . I maybe wrong though, so what if the skirmishes over those islands escalates into all out war would the US fight the chinese on behalf of the Japanese over those stupid rocks . Ermmm what's the role of the Peoples Liberation Army Going by its label. |
Celebrities › Re: Rise Of David Oyelowo, Hollywood’s Counterpoint Character Actor And Future MLK by GuyFawkes: 7:43am On Nov 14, 2014 |
David Oyelowo is hugely talented, first saw him some years back in the BBC drama Small Island and I've followed his career since. His theatre training does stand him out from other black males in Hollwood. The fact he was the first black actor to play a english king (Henry VI) does speak volumes, and his perfomance was critically acclaimed despite the initial uproar from the media.
He was terrific in Red Tails directed by George Lucas, but in my opinion his best perfomance was in The Paperboy...dude oozed class in that film. He's a sure bet for an oscar nomination in the not too distant future.
Apart from Denzel Washington, Forest Whitaker, Samuel L. Jackson and maybe Wesley Snipes in his heydays, the other African-american actors in Hollywood don't come close to the black British actors for me. Same applies to the whites cos the British and Australians are the leading men mostly. |

I seriously do not like to comment whenever politics is involved, check my profile here, my only active section is nairaland autos...but we need to put the record straight....The paper was silent about where the murder of that innocent man was committed and where those arraigned were arrested. Anyway, this is what happened that fateful day, I was in Akodo Resort area with my family, then, this man Folami or what did they call his name? the one they called special adviser....came in from Orimedu, where he had had some confrontation with one Bode Oyedele, a PDP chieftain in that area, me i no know wetin happen o, i sha hear say dem kill the guy(Lamidi) for Orimedu, then police came and arrested Tola Kasali, his CSo Tobun, and that other man, several other people were arrested from the APC camp were also arrested at the resort where APC chieftains were having their party SECRET CULT meeting...but majority of them were released that same night, but Dr Kasali was not left off the hook, me for my own mind o, think say na just to dirty him guber ambition race, How would u arrest and prosecute a man for a crime committed kilometers away from where he was... who knows the meaning of alibi? talktimi: illegal gun possession though the police failed to state if it was the actual murder weapon You're right the gun wasn't registered. The police already made a mess of the case, prosecuting without tendering any evidence whilst handing over to the AGN's office, what kind of prosecution meekly agrees to bail for a murder offence |
Politics › Re: Lagos State Governorship Aspirant, Special Adviser Arraigned For Murder by GuyFawkes: 10:31am On Nov 12, 2014 |
barcanista: Gun possession and the lifeless body of the murdered person was found in the apartment of one of the defendants. This should be the court to decide. Honestly, I don't fancy the Justice System under Fashola's government unlike Bola Tinubu.
Meanwhile, murder offence is not bailable. Was the body inside the apartment? The court should decide but the moment the prosecution was taken away from the police you knew it had political undertones. Common you and I know murder is bailable for rich folks and politicans. We have a couple of them as governors and senators . |
