Yes. Atheism has destroyed something in them. The constant in humans is intelligence, how it is used, is the variable. My Chinese friends use their intelligence effectively for business, but struggle to understand the emotional/spiritual needs of others. So they rather show that they are brilliant in business and other material efforts.

I also notice that my Chinese Atheist friends are not affectionate. I used my dog as a basic demonstration of affectionate behaviour.
They all laugh and said they would rather eat the dog. Now I leave my dog at my neighbors home when the Chinese Atheists are at my home.
