This is my experience, might help someone.I graduated with 2:2 and the chances of securing a job in nigeria where 2:1 is the ish was slim. Then prayers was made on my behalf and also by myself, then an opportunity opened with almost 4000applicants writing an exam that requires 180people only.i wasnt the smartest but divine favour placed me among the 180people.I got an invitation for a job and tot i was so prepared,i was banking on my experience and strength, guess what?it failed me.i cudnt deliver but then i whispered a prayer as i was leaving the company,45mins later i was called back and offered another role as a trainee which i never had experience in.God is alive and he works, many live their lives in reckless abandon hoping that God will just intervene,it doesnt work that way.when you fall sick you turn to a doctor so it is with God,he doesnt force himself on you.you have to decide then he will take charge.
So, the other 3,820 people didn't deserve to get the job or they didn't just say their prayers right? undecided

I was in love with physics, geography and biology in school but my interest in astrophysics developed later.

Its a fascinating and breathe taking subject that i can't help getting obsessed with, you are right it is self taught though and countless of such e-books on my phone nearly pass normal documents.

Astronomical twitter handles are my favourite handles to follow, no celebrity stuff..

My girl friend once asked me why i like all the planets, astroids, galaxies, nebulas and other astronomical and physics pictures on my phone.. that it is boring.. grin

I had to create folder for them (more than 400) so she can leave that side alone when using my phone and not complain again... That girl sef...
Lol. A lot of women are not into those stuff. Neither am I.

I more of business prone. When I am eventually rich, I will love to create a science institute here in Nigeria. Maybe we can work on it together when it's time grin

I believe plaetton shares my sentiment that Africans need to face the harsh fact of our situation in order to be able to solve it. By creating psychological cushions for our problems we only give them room to grow
Christianity Etc › Re: "The Good Ship Jesus." A Picture And A Thousand Words by hahn(m): 4:08pm On Nov 05, 2015
johnydon22:

Blackrace is not the only race to possess such or exhibit the characteristics of assimilating some other people's religions and cultures into their society.

Africa was hoodwinked with a form of knowledge superior to what we have, when the foreign missionaries arrived Africa they achieved feats we could not fathom then man tend to fear and revere that he do not know or understand.

I would say it was an orphanization of our psychological dependency replaced by that which was masked to be better.

I do not really blame Africans for this, they are just lost in the vacuum of what they THINK to be right.

Lost in the dark void of other people's ideas, laws and culture. . . It is not the fault of this present generation but as a relic of unfair indoctrination..

I'd say psychological dependency not damaged. . . . Many blacks and Africans has also being outstanding citizens of this world...
As a people we are still far behind and stuck in our old cultures and traditions. The average African doesn't want to change.

Unless the outstanding Africans represent at least 50% of the black race and accomplish these feats on our own soil i.e by attending our own schools and travelling with our own passports they will only be classified as exceptions.

The use of the word "damaged" by plaetton might seem extreme but it's the plain truth.

#ignorance is not actually lack of knowledge, but failure to seek knowledge where there is.!

Even the muslim clerics knows the truth and they dare not preach about it.
Really? What truth?

The bible is not a book where one goes to seek knowledge otherwise we would have used it instead of physics and biology textbooks

I totally disagree with this, the black race is no way a damaged or inferior race. . . Such mindset is an individual thing..
Mind giving examples, aside from the mindset thing because that is personal, that the black race isn't a damaged race?

As i stated earlier, our God is awesome.
If Ben Carson didnt start as a dull boy (which he is not) and the mother seeing a need to help him
in his studies, he might not be what he is today!

If Albert Einstein, Steve jobs and the likes are not high school drop out, they might not have make that much impact.

If GEJ hasnt schooled in Otuoke and trek without sandals, he might not have became a president!

Every big venture, investment, sky scraper, big building all start from a small picture with a strong believe.
Those roaming the street are not daft, not lazy and not clowns. Just that they fail to put to use their God given
strength and ability (the brain).

Even before God comes into the picture, we have to draw the picture for him to carry out.

Things needed to succeed!
1. Plan well
2. Prepare extensively
3. Pray with believe
Albert Einstein and Steve Jobs didn't "pray with belief" to your god. How come they became successful?

Another proof that faith is just simply extreme, fearful doubt.

I laugh when I ask my family members why l enjoy good health, enjoy a peaceful and satisfactory life , despite the fact that I neither pray to nor acknowledge any long dead Jewish Palestinian and of his schizophrenic sky papa, they ( my christian family members and relatives) claim that their prayers is what is sustaining me.

They even want to rob me of credit for my own life.

Typical Religious answer of the theists:
1. god works in mysterious ways (Duhhhh, millions of graduates are roaming the streets, some have given in to crimes, others suicide e.t.c what is mysterious about that)

2.The devil is the cause ( but someone CREATED this devil and this creator sits by and watch this devil cause this unemployment havoc, it must either be enjoying the havoc or he is simply powerless to stop it or neither of them really exist)

3. Destiny! ( So it is the fate of millions of unemployed graduates to remain unemployed, broke, dejected and helpless to the point of suicide. That is what their mission on this earth is abi? )

If you are really looking for who to blame, then read the News. Greece is having it real hard, oil prices are falling and affecting nations that depend entirely on it, zero economic policies in Nigeria that will create jobs, sacking of employees becoming a regular thing, 40% of the Nigerian graduates themselves have zero skill and can not be employed, others are just too selective, many are spending their youth defending thieving politicians online and offline e.t.c

Thread might be good in the religious section too. CC : Dalaman, hahn, plaetton, Johnydon22
I actually has the same thought when I first read the thread. I guess the simple fact is that people will need something to believe in. I think it is best to leave them to their beliefs. Whatever makes them happy undecided

However, it is unfortunate that such qualities as perseverance, determination and consistence as displayed by the op, he even had me in awe, where given no consideration and instead "god" took all the praise. For doing nothing

This is just another evidence of how the average Nigerian is conditioned to lack of belief in himself and always feel they are incompetent. Instead of motivating unemployed youths to be persistent, consistent and determined, they are taught to "put their trust in god" and when they fail, they are accused of not having enough "faith" undecided

Pathetic

Dearpreye and hungerbad might have something to add to this

Unfortunately, a large percentage of the black race just don't get it undecided Our negative disposition towards acquiring knowledge is also helping us remain in the same "time" without any notable development.

These days religion is a tool used by blacks to enslave blacks and exploit them for financial gain and the gullible ones still can't see it.

Please guys let wait for Remeilkun to bring out his analogy on the Ouija board he mentioned.

Am sure he he has reasons for doing that, maybe he intends to prove the concept of afterlife with it, thats the subject of discussion here.

Lets be open to it...
While you're at it, please confirm or debunk the recent assumption by theists that you were raped while in the seminary and that's why you chose to leave Christianity and are bitter towards the religion.
