I don't know why the igbos are hell bent on disobeying this Great king. They should remember that he who the gods want to kill will first run mad. Igbos should be grateful to the Yoruba for accomodating them and their businesses. They should not take our silence for cowardice. Be warned angry

It is a crime to be caught with pirated copies. But Nigeria does not really emphasize it.
Oh Okay.... but even if emphasised; the fact that is available will force the uninformed and average Nigerian to go for it since they might not be able to afford the original; that's why the source of piracy have to be dealt with.

it's also illogical to think that everyone will stop pirating movies. People will seek for their daily bread legally or illegally, that's life.
No it's not illogical because this doesn't happen in well developed countries were copyright violation is a serious crime, , duplicating the work someone has done and selling it as yours is not only an act of stealing and plagiarism but also wicked.. If simply because of your selfish gain, you sell another man's work to get his gains, then you should be charged with theft.

We know they will eventually sell because the average Nigerian might not even be able to afford a 3 square mean daily not to talk of buying a CD at 1k when he can get it at 100 naira; you have forced him to an end where he has to purchase it even if the copy is illegal because of how cheap it is.

If those pirating can maintain their integrity and not be so selfish to want the gains of the work of another man, then piracy will be a thing of the past

there is no justification for theft.

If I leave 10,000 naira on a table and you steal it how is it my fault? A mother leaves meat in a pot of soup and a child steals it, is it her fault? Humans can be tempted, but it behoves on everyone to ignore such. If there was no market for piracy, it would never thrive. Don't justify piracy by blaming one side, it takes two to tango.

Speak like an educated person please, you're embarrassing your certificate
What you don't know is that the copyright law is to avoid products from being pirated, not for disallowing people to buy pirated copies.. This is because the only reason people buy pirated copies is because they are readily available and inexpensive. If they are not available, no one would buy them; that is why making the pirated copy available is the crime. I have not come across any law around the world that says buying a pirated copy is a crime but rather pirating an original copy is a crime.

Meanwhile your analogy of stealing above is incoherent with the issue of piracy. How many people even know that the product they are using is pirated? Don't you hear of people being duped into buying cloned phones in computer village thinking they have the original? Some people actually think they are buying the original copy as some wouldn't even expect the original copies to be very expensive. If those copies were not pirated, no one would be able buy them; it's simple as ABC.. It's illogical to think every single person will stop buying pirated copies and then piracy will stop but it is logical to condemn piracy itself in order for piracy to end.

And please be matured when replying people's post, saying I am embarrassing my certificate is an insult which I wouldn't have taken from another person, I used to see you as a respectable person on this forum. Is it difficult to place your argument without going personal?

if they were arresting people in this country for piracy, then they must arrest everyone.

Do you not download illegally from sites? Is that not part of piracy? Everybody has encouraged piracy one way or the other so for someone to blame a tribe is petty and immature.
Human beings are not gods, they get emotional and can be teased to get things they might not even need. The only reason I download music from sites is because they are available there, that's the focal point. If there were no music on that site, everyone would go through the normal route to get it legally. You can't arrest the people buying pirated copy because they did not pirate it, those that pirate it are guilty because they have teased or used the weakness of people to sell their products. It's the same way people buying cloned Samsung galaxy phones made in china cannot be arrested because they were not the one guilty of the offence.

Human beings love to get things free and so it's normal for people to buy the pirated copies. Destroy the foundation and you will see piracy will become a thing of the past.

Sad

Is it only Igbos that pirate the movies? Isn't it human beings that buy these pirated copies? Do his Yoruba brothers not patronize these pirates as well? If there were no markets for them, would piracy thrive?
your post is like justifying the act of a prostitute simply because they induce men to patronise them.. its all about your integrity; there is no need to pirate another man sweat; it is only in Nigeria I know this isn't taken as a serious offence.. of course when thing get pirated and sold cheap; some people would like it but is it really right? Put yourself in the shoes of the producers that spend their hard earned money to produce. If the igbos and all others who pirate maintain their integrity; no one would be patronising then; they are the once inviting people to do so

Sorry to say, but Yorubas are highly tribalistic. Even in my room at school(UNILAG), those room mates of mine who are Yorubas do say hurtful things to me often inspite of the fact that I'm Ibibio. They say we're one, and I'm happy to be affiliated with Igbo. "One Nigeria" is a BIG LIE! I'm from the United States Of Biafra (USB), not Nigeria. If USB decides to be on her own, Yorubas and Hausas will never ever measure up to us in all aspects till Jesus comes! It is our oil resources that make all of you, we own the Nigerian economy, PETROLEUM. #Proudly Akwa-Ibomite#
I will forgive the former part of your post but let me dace the latter. ... which PETROLEUM does igbo people have and where is it located. Thanks

hey don't tell me to shut up!
your people know how to beat the war drum but can't dance to it.
I hate tribal fight so much
sometimes I just wish everybody will be like me for just a month and see how Nigeria will move forward within that period.
I don't know why supposed educated folks will let tribal sentiments take away their sense of reasoning and rationality. What exactly is a lie about what he said? Aren't igbos the once behind piracy and all, ? But because you are probably igbo; you get offended when they tell you what your people do is wrong and attaching tribalism to it simply because you yourself is a tribal bigot. SMH

So, to you, everyone that criticises and points out the truth is Igbo or from the South South. Ama core northerner.

And, have you ever bought a C.D for one hundred or one hundred and fifty naira? Or even less? Then you are also a pirate. So, it is not peculiar to the Igbos alone. It's a national problem.
if they were not making them; no one will be tempted to buy them sir. It's all about your own integrity. Your post is like justifying the act of prostitutes because they induce men to patronise them. If they don't sell themselves, no one would buy them; in the same vain if you don't sell pirated copies; no one would buy them; so it's all about your own integrity as a person.

**sighs**

Let us stop deceiving ourselves...we are just being forced to remain as one. This is not working. No matter how much any of them apologise for what has been said, the truth is that that is how they feel about the Igbos.

And that is how most Nigerians feel about other tribes and vice versa. This is the condition we have found ourselves in.
Did he lie for God sake? Isn't it true that igbos are the masterminds of piracy, , ? Why are you twisting his message to something else, I just wish they can let you guys go to your biafra sef.. una wahala too much

I get your point but does that mean a kid of 7 years doesn't feel sexual pleasure? Of course not, every male feels that and therefore can self service at that age
