The fact you believe a fellow human being deserves to be tortured for eternity says more about you as a person than it does about the vile god figure you were told to worship.
Would you do the torturing if your ‘loving’ god asked you to do so? |

To think a piece of clothing will generate wealth, in itself is utter stupidity. And I'm not even surprised to see that the people that apprehend these guys and make a big deal out of it are mostly jobless and illiterates. Making a big deal out of this nonsense is actually encouraging these guys to steal it, thinking it works. All the best for Nigeria. |

Funny enough one zombie follower i am dating is threatening me with breakup if i don't go to church. Caveat;if my post annoys you, know that i am not sorry. Thanks! lol, there was this girl I used to date. She's a Muslim. While we dated, she noticed I never went anywhere, neither to church nor to mosque. In the first few weeks of our relationship, I knew she noticed but she kept quiet bout it. But later she started demanding I followed her to mosque, which I declined. She said she could never be with an irreligious person, so we broke up. |

Asking if I love someone I've never seen nor heard from since I've been born is foolishness in itself. The arrogance portrayed by you guys never ceases to amaze me. Asking dumb questions like "do you love God? do you know someone died for your sins?" The same person that stood back and watched while hundreds of children are murdered and raped daily on the continent. Where his supposed followers cry out in his name when they are being tortured to death. Why don't you go ask these people if they love God?
The same God that killed nearly 3 million people according to the bible, and Satan killed just 10. No man, no sane person would love a psychopath, even if he were real. |

GabrielYulaw: Wow! Sorry about your experience, though I shouldn't be all that surprised. Our brand of religion is all form and NO substance. That is why we are the most religious people in the world and the most corrupt. I swear, the kind of things most Nigerians get up to despite being very religious could make Saint Peter become an atheist. Tufia!!!! Back in the days, the intense hypocrisy I experienced in my church moved me to become an atheist for around 5 years. I am no longer an atheist, but still... so you're back to religion. What made you give up atheism? |

HardGuyHardGuy: Few minutes ago, I stumbled upon a post on nairaland (an old post) about a guy who renders menial services to people in his community. He disclosed his religious views in a whatsapp group of the community when a conversation about their God was going on. That action of his changes the way they looked at him, the number of jobs he received decreased drastically and survival for him was tough. This same religious discussion also happened where I worked and when I aired my atheistic views, I looked like an outcast because I was the only atheist there, my boss even threatened to sack me the next day (I guess she was joking) she also said she will tell her husband about it it. Many of my coworkers said they hear that one doesn't believe in God only in movies and they're very surprised they could still find someone like this in reality, they looked at me like a bad person and their perspective about me changed. I want to know if your religion taught you to be like this, turning people to bad people because of their belief system or sorta. I'm sure atheists don't act this way because if we are like this, I'm sure Seun won't employ religious people and many atheist company owners won't employ religious people, all we care about is the quality of your service. This reminds me of something that happened where I used to live. One fateful night, a neighbour of mine, a lady ran out of her room screaming her head out. Apparently, she had had a bad dream. She said she dreamt everyone living in the house died, that in her dream, we all slept and didn't wake up. The other neighbours were thrown into panic and they all woke up others sleeping and said to gather in front of the house for prayer. They knocked on my door last and told me what had happened. I laughed it off and told em I don't believe in such things, nor do I believe in prayers or existence of any god. They were stunned and one even threatened I wouldn't wake up the next day if I refused to join em in prayers that night. They went ahead and prayed for like an hour, some wailing, some speaking in tongues and all. I just kept laughing through it all.The next day, they all gathered outside to thank whoever they had been praying to the previous night for letting them see another day. I walked past them and greeted them, none of them responded. I was like "wow, for people who just finished praying." One of them blurted out saying I was an Antichrist and possessed. In short, they ostracized me and wouldn't talk to me anymore nor reply my greetings after that. I had to move out, since I got no time for drama and negativity. These days I just keep my belief to myself mostly since Nigerians are very sensitive on religious issues. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Various Ways The Bible Defines Faith by Hakeem12(m): 8:48am On Dec 16, 2018 |
Everyone recognizes that to rely upon "faith" to decide specific questions of historical fact is ridiculous—that is, until the conversation turns to the origin of books like the Bible and the Koran, to the resurrection of Jesus, to Muhammad's conversation with the archangel Gabriel, or to any other religious dogma. It is time that we admitted that faith is nothing more than the license religious people give one another to keep believing when reasons fail. While believing strongly, without evidence, is considered a mark of madness or stupidity in any other area of our lives, faith in God still holds immense prestige in our society.
Religion is the one area of our discourse where it is considered noble to pretend to be certain about things no human being could possibly be certain about. It is telling that this aura of nobility extends only to those faiths that still have many subscribers. Anyone caught worshipping Poseidon, even at sea, will be thought insane. |
