bullsh*t, people actually believed this? when are we ever going to shed our crude way of thinking as a nation.

And I'm not even surprised. When people don't even know curse and blessings don't work. Only cause and effect does.

We are teaching our children to worship God while other countries are teaching their children to be gods.
We teach our children to pray for smart phones and cars, while they teach theirs to invent smart phones and cars. Then our children become adults who go to church to thank God for smart phones and cars purchased from other countries whose children have become adults who invent cars and smart phones. That's why they don't need our God because without them our God can't bless us. It is the cars and smart phones they invent that we give testimony and thank our God for in our churches. Then we go about boasting that it was pastor's prayers and anointing that gave us these stuff.
We are teaching our kids that "A" is for "Apple" and they are teaching their kids how to turn apples into other products and how to impregnate apples to give birth to beautiful bubbles.
We are still teaching our kids the botanical names of plants while they are teaching their kids how to marry mango and orange to produce man-range. They are teaching their kids coding and programming in well equipped schools while we are teaching our kids how to prophecy and speak in tongues in well equipped churches.
Our children's school drama is about how to be a pastor or imam while theirs is about how to relocate to a new planet. They boast about conquering Mars, while we boast about hearing dreams and prophecies.
We choose our leaders based on tribe and religion while they choose theirs based on the solutions these leaders bring to the table.

We are poor yet look rich but they are rich yet look poor. We are doomed if we don't change our mindset.

It's so sad

Also E-myth, entrepreneurial myth, by Micheal E. Gerber. I have read it close to five times now, it's really great for anyone getting into business. Also outliers, it gives a deep understanding into how environment has influenced the success of many people like gates, Steve and others.

Bro, I suggest all Dan brown novels, from angels and demons, to the da Vinci code, inferno, lost symbol and origin. I bet you will fall in love with the guy once you are through. You should also read "the richest man in Babylon" and Robert Greene books, like the 48 laws of power, art of war and so on.

Christianity EtcRe: The Mystery Surrounding Creation And Life After Death by Hakeem12(m):
We have made it into a mystery. It is so difficult for humans to understand and accept nothingness, and we are so imaginative, trying to model absolutely everything, which includes nothing. This makes it into a mystery. And why not, if ideas about death and afterlife are not used to conceive and control people, but make life a little more manageable, meaningful and magical.

Death is NOT a mystery of life, but simply the end of life, just like birth is the start of life.
Life is like a party (or like a box of chocolates as Forrest Gump's mother said) that can be a lot of fun if you let your hair down, unclench your buttocks, and just enjoy it, being as considerate and as decent as you can be.
But, like any good party, it must end. No big deal.
All living things die.
If something didn't die, one could question if it were alive in the first place.
When someone dies, all their memories are erased, the person is gone, irrevocably. Not all the kings horses, not all the kings men can bring back that person. That person abruptly becomes rotting flesh.
Even in the event one could preserve the body, with cryogenics for example, unless all the memories can be preserved (which we have no way yet, not even with cryogenics, to preserve the brain and its neural network that comprises our memories and knowledge), and we revived the heart later, we can at most expect to regain the person in a deep comatose and vegetative state, which for all practical purposes is indistinguishable from death.
Death is not something peculiar to humans but happens to all living things, all animals, plants, fungi, even single-cell bacteria.
Yes, when one examines say E-Coli bacteria jiggling in a petri dish, a casual observer may not think they are so different from just a bunch of "dead" chemicals, but under the microscope those bacteria are as alive as you and me, very busy feeding and reproducing. Yet you will observe that from time to time, one bacterium will stop jiggling (i.e. dies) and soon starts to decay and fall apart and its remains are quickly "eaten" by neighboring bacteria.
Now, what made it die? What exactly happened between T-epsilon and T+epsilon, if T was the moment it stopped jiggling? And why can't we go in there with a tiny probe and give it "CPR" or a tiny jolt of electricity or something to get it going again, we don't know the answer yet. That is a bona fide mystery.
Christianity EtcRe: What Will Happen To Those Who Refused To Believe In The Name Of The Lord Christ by Hakeem12(m):
lol, I guess we are all going to hell. Nothing in christianity is original, from the cross symbol to the halo worn by saints which was borrowed from ancient Egyptian worship. Christianity is filled with examples of sun worship.

December 25th does not celebrate your Christ, according to your comical book he was born in March, yet he's celebrated in December. December 25th is the ancient pagan holiday of Sol invictus- the unconquered sun. Do your research, and ask your pretentious pastors. That holiday coincides with the winter solstice. it's that wonderful time of the year when the sun returns and the days start getting longer.

Christianity in conquering religions often adopt existing holidays to make conversions less shocking. It is called transmutation. Do you guys even read anything safe from your holy books? That process helps people acclimatize to their new faith. Worshippers keep the same holy dates, pray in the same sacred locations, use a similar symbology and simply substitute a different God.

Christianity did not only borrow from sun worship, the ritual of christian canonization is taken from the ancient "god making" ritual of Euphemerus. The practise of god eating, that is, Holy communion was borrowed from the Aztecs. Even the concepts of Christ dying for your sins is definitely not extensively christian, the self sacrifice of a young man to absolve the sins of his people appears in the ancient earliest traditions of the Quetzalcoatl.

you might argue that something in christainity is original though. That christianity does not represent its god with symbols of hawk, sungod or as an Aztec. it always shows God as an ancient Old man with white beard.

however, when the early xtrian converts abandoned their former deities-pagan gods, Roman gods Greek, sun god, Mathriac or whatever. They asked their church what their new Christian god looked like. wisely, the church chose the most feared, powerful and familiar face in all of recorded history. An old man with a white flowing beard. I hope Zeusooks familiar.

Very little in any organized faith is original, Religions are not born from scratch. They grow from one another. Modern religion is a collage, an assimilated historical record of Man's quest to understand the divine.

Many atheist you see here were in one religion or the other, but because they were rational, they refused to be gullibe like your faiths will have you. You come here and condemn people when they don't subscribe to your idea of worship. My dad is a Muslim, my mum a Christian. both tried to bring me up in their faiths. I attended Arabic school. studied the quran, and can speak fluent Arabic. I even went to a Catholic secondary school as my mum insisted. But deep down, I knew only one of these faiths had to be right. That led to my search for answers, the more I searched, the more l lost faith in both religions cos both condemn pagan gods and yet borrow a lot from their worship. When you. guys start using your brains, start asking questions and decide to find explanations for things you don't understand, rather than ascribing it to the supernatural, then. no one will dupe you in the name of religion.

I know I'm going to die someday. and when I do, I'm just going to be another contribution to the earth, to the trees, and to nature. so while I'm still here, my achievements, the people im able to help, the people I love, and the people I touch in one way or another is enough for me to be content with as I go.

What do you guys think? Hopefullandlord, Hahn, dalaman, mujtahida, hakeem4, Joseph 1013, capslocked, dalaman, hardmirror, johnydon 22

5 things that reinforce my atheism

#1: A terrible messenger?
All religions have this built-in premise that god has a set of laws it wants us to follow. For some reason, however, these laws are not self-evident. They are not written in flaming letters in the sky. Instead, they have been passed on through a series of copiers and storytellers, to the point that we know there are mistakes and mistranslation in later versions. What is worse, there are a whole bunch of different religions, with different laws. But no criteria to decide if, for example, Hinduism is the true religion as opposed to Christianity. Why would god play this dumb “bad communicator” game, instead of just making its laws self-evident? Sure would help a lot if “thou shalt not kill” appeared written in fire in the sky. As opposed to all the “you shall not kill unless they follow a different religion” garbage we currently have so much of in the world.

#2: Even worse designer and manager
I think one of the noblest things humans do is to help others avoid suffering - or comfort them in that suffering. Whether its doctors, volunteers, NGOs or people who look after homeless animals, I think we all believe those who care for others are among the best of us.
By contrast, the world has plenty of built-in, often seemingly pointless, cruelty and suffering. Like crippling birth defects. I cannot reconcile a children’s oncology ward with any type of benevolent deity. The civilization that we have built is a way to escape the brutality and cruelty of nature, the “default” state granted to us. So it is civilization and science I am thankful to, and not the creator of the “natural” human state.

#3: Incredibly arrogant
Religion treats mankind like we’re God’s ultimate creation sent to live in the center of the universe. Like this quote: “Then God said, "Let there be lights in the sky to separate day from night. These lights will be used for signs, seasons, days, and years.”. Try to reconcile that with deep field images. Hubble Deep Field - Wikipedia . Billions of worlds are reduced to the role of lights for one.
The universe is incredibely vast. We are less than a germ hanging out among someone’s toenail cells saying: Wow, there’s this huge body out there, and it was built for us!
The earth-centrism and anthropocentrism of religion really makes it completely unbelievable for me, it seems that ignorance of 99,99999999999999999 (ad inifinitam)% of creation in religious texts mostly proves they were totally made up by ancient humans.

#4: Complexity squared
Theists often state that the world is too complex to have come into being on its own or evolved by chance. Except… if something did create the universe and has infinite power to shape it, that something is almost infinitely more complex than the universe itself. The explanation of god adds complexity instead of removing it.

#5 A better explanation is usually found
Looking at the history of religion, it’s “the guys who cried god”. Wild animals were gods until we totally dominated them. The sun was a god, riding atop a chariot. The sea was a god (or had a god in charge of it). Gods typically lived on the highest mountains in the area. They controlled thunder. And so on and so forth.
Each and every time, when science went into an area that was supposedly divine, it proved that there’s no god or magic there. A better explanation is usually found, and another god (or version thereof) is stricken from the records.

The reason it did not work, is the same reason why the words "open sesame" will not open the biggest vaults of Central bank Nigeria!!! The so-called magic words of the poem(just like the words "open sesame"wink, originate from the realm of fiction!!! Only a "super lunatic" will atempt to apply them in reality!!!
I remember a movie I saw last year, "hurricane heist" where the antagonist opened a vault saying open sesame. I know some gullible people will actually believe that.

And this is exactly why feminism is very very vital to civilization. When people think a woman’s value should be based on how men see her appearance. So because y’all don’t think she’s beautiful, whatever she has to say makes no sense?

Well I’m probably talking to the wall. Can’t expect simple minded plebs to try and reason a conversation out of this.

Christianity EtcRe: Existence Problems; Urgent Answers Needed by Hakeem12(m): 8:38pm On Aug 29, 2018
You see, Religion has no monopoly on providing a sense of purpose in life. Most people want to live meaningful lives, they want to live a life that is worthwhile and fulfilling. But what makes life fulfilling? I know to some people, religion does, but to people like me, we don't believe in religion. Does that then mean that we can't live meaningful lives? like I said earlier, religion has no monopoly on the meaning of life.

Life without religion can be meaningful. Indeed, it can be very meaningful. Meaning in life without religion can be found in the many familiar, meaning-conferring elements that aren’t religious in nature. These include friends, family, romantic love, pets, good careers, personal projects, learning, teaching, noble causes, helping others, striving for moral excellence, notable achievements and experiences, hobbies and recreational activities, and so on. There are many non-religious sources of meaning in life, and it’s in virtue of such things that life without religion can be meaningful.

Religion doesn’t have a monopoly on providing a sense of purpose in life. Instead, we can give purpose to our own lives . Taking care of our loved ones, helping needy humans or non-human animals, fighting for good causes (e.g., freedom and justice), striving for moral excellence, contributing to science, music, literature, art, or other areas of enduring human culture — such things can provide the non-religious with a sense of purpose in life.
