A Romanian politician and Member of Parliament, Florin Popescu, has been handed a two-year jail term for what he did in way back 2012 where he attempted to win another term as a council leader by handing out 60 tonnes of fried chicken to voters. Investigators from the country's anti-corruption unit found that he had secured £85000 worth of the delicacy from a producer in what amounted to an abuse of office.They said:
“On April 5, 2012 several people sent by Florin Popescu loaded the fried chicken into vans and took it to various locations where it was distributed.
“All the packages of chicken were distributed for election purposes.

Mr Popescu who is know in his home country as the “Chicken Baron” last month amid the scandal resigned his seat and said “Politics is a sweet rose but it can sometimes have a bitter taste.”

His sentence is without a possibility of parole and the court rejected an appeal on the case which was revealed after the chicken producer reported the politician to the authorities.

One Ahmed Abdullahi was yesterday sentenced to death by hanging by an Ilorin High Court in Kwara yesterday after finding him guilty of a charge of culpable homicide. The court also sentenced the convict to five years imprisonment for being in possession of a fresh human head.

Similarly, the court also sentenced Waheed Sanni and Saka Adisa to five years imprisonment each for unlawfully receiving the human head. The duo were also sentenced to another five years imprisonment each for criminal conspiracy.

Delivering his judgment, the state chief judge, Justice Suleiman Durosinlohun Kawu, ordered that Ahmed Abdullahi be hanged till he dies for causing the death of a nine year old, Hamidu Sanda by beheading him in a bush at Amberi village, Iso Wara, near Ajase-Po in Irepodun local government area of the state, on April 1, 2009. Justice Kawu in his judgment also said Alfa Waheed Sanni and Saka Adisa were found in possession of the head of the child which was meant for ritual purpose.

No, Kabiyesi didnt meet her a long time, it was the oracle who revealed her to Kabiyesi. They never met before. The irumole are still alive and they are doing wonders. You know a lot of things has been happening since they introduced the new Oloori to the world. Lots of people were saying evil things about her. Majority of what they said are not correct. They were just running her down. But to the glory of God we still marry her. Is that not wonderful and marvelous.

It is easy because we are very friendly and many people won’t know this until they move closer to us. We are friendly, loving and very accommodating.

The battle between Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh who resigned in a very controversial state on grounds that he was never paid or given any benefits that came with his job which is contrary to claims by the Nigerian Football Federation NFF that he was paid N20 million just moments before he resigned is set to take a higher dimension as Oliseh yesterday March 14, 2016 released his February 2016 bank statement which clearly shows no credit transaction being made by the NFF office to his account.


Sunday Oliseh also added evidence of how he spent his personal funds on the feeding of the home based Super Eagles who were neglected by the NFF during the CHAN tournament in Rwanda. It will be recalled that immediately Oliseh resigned as Super Eagles coach, the NFF disclosed to Nigerians that they had just credited his account with N20 million which is payment for 3 months salary including February. Oliseh refuted the claims but on Monday took a step further providing documents to substantiate his claims.

Meanwhile, the former Super Eagles assistant coach Jean Francois Losciuto has vowed to drag the the NFF to FIFA for breach of contract as he revealed he was owed 6 months salaries at a stretch before his exit. According to him, he’s owed salaries, bonuses and allowance to the tune of $100,000.

ABUJA – An Abuja High Court sitting at Jabi has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Nigerian Army, to forthwith, release Col. Nicholas Ashinze, a former aide to the erstwhile National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), who has been in detention since December 23, 2015. ‎In a judgment on Monday, Justice Yusuf Haliru, directed the respondents to immediately release the applicant on self-recognition, saying his detention for over three months without trial, was “‎illegal, wrongful, unlawful and constituted a blatant violation of the fundamental rights of the applicant”.

The court also ordered immediate release of documents and items the anti-graft agency seized from the house of the applicant. Former National Security Adviser, NSA, to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Col. Sambo Dasuki Col. Sambo Dasuki ‎Justice Haliru blasted both the EFCC and the Army which he said acted as if Nigeria was still under military ‎dictatorship. “The EFCC is a creation of the ‎law. The court will not allow it to act as if it is above the law. It is remarkable to note that the motto of the EFCC is that nobody is above the law, yet they are acting as if they are above the law. “The EFCC Act is not superior to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The respondents in this matter have not behaved as if we are in a civilised society. They have behaved as if we are in a military dictatorship ‎where they arrest and release persons at will.

‎ “The respondents, I must be bold to say- the EFCC and the Army- have behaved like illiterates”, the Judge added. ‎ He said the constitution stipulated that any person so detained should be charged to court within reasonable time not exceeding two months from the date of arrest. Justice Haliru stressed that under section 36 of the 1999 constitution, as amended, an accused person is deemed innocent until his guilt is established. ‎ “Why has the 1st respondent kept the applicant without bringing him to court? Why was the applicant, being a serving military officer who could be easily reached, not granted administrative bail? Or is it that the applicant has been found guilty and already serving his jail term?‎ “Nobody should be subjected to the whims and caprices of the EFCC. The essence of the rule of law and constitutional provisions is to ensure a just balance between the ruler and the ruled, between the powerful and the weak. “Though the EFCC has the responsibility to investigate financial crime, it must however conduct its operations in accordance with the rule of law. “The court is empowered to guard against i‎mproper use of power by any member of the society or agency, EFCC inclusive.‎ “The detention of the applicant, for all intent and purposes, is not just unfair but unfortunate”, the court held. "I don’t have any perfect description of my ideal man. All I know is that there is a man God has made to be my husband. The mistake most women make is that they see their boyfriends as husbands and husbands as boyfriends. He doesn't have to be rich, so long he has a vision that he is working towards. Most women marry the wrong men because of what they look out for in marriage, things like money, security, fame and so on. They forget that when you finally settle into the marriage and you don’t see all these things, the love simply fades; it is good for a woman to be hard working. When you do that, your husband will be your supporter and not an access to riches. I don’t want to be a woman saved by a prince, I want to be a queen that is an asset to her king.

Can you date a poor guy?

Yes, why not? I can date a poor guy. Any hard working woman will not look at the pocket of any man; you don’t marry a man’s present but his future. For such women, the mantra is 'it can only get better'. Like I said earlier, my ideal man must have a vision and must be hard working. And let me add, a man with a vision is not a poor man. Wealth is not how much you have, but rather, how many lives that you can touch.
