Following the ruling of the Supreme court in Senate President Bukola Saraki's appeal on his asset declaration trial which the the Supreme court said lacked merit and commanded Saraki to make hinmself available for his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Saraki reacting to the judgement which was passed earlier today expressed his disappointment at the court ruling, but said he will make himself available and defend his innocense before the court. Read the press statement below..

After listening to the ruling of the Supreme Court in the appeal he filed to challenge the process of arraigning him before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki hereby states as follows:
1. He expresses disappointment over the Judgment of the apex court in the country on the six grounds of his appeal
2. He however will like to put it on record that the facts of the substantial matter are not before the Supreme Court since the apex court was only invited to rule on some preliminary issues in the process of commencing the trial.
3. The Senate President believes he will have his day in the court to prove his innocence of the charges preferred against him during the trial proper.
4. Dr. Saraki will like to thank everyone who has expressed support for him from the beginning of the case.
He assures everyone that at the end of the day truth will prevail and justice will be served.

I wonder what what more truth about Boko Haram that this government has not told we the citizens because leader of the Bring Back Our Girls, Oby Ezekwesili has on yesterday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to always tellNigerians the truth regarding the the deadly sect Boko Haram. According to her, gone are the days when lies are being told when it comes to matters of the insurgency. She said;
“The government cannot afford to go to the old ways where lies were fed to the people. Let there be truthfulness. Government should not create a trust deficit syndrome because it will be difficult to mend. Everything that the government is doing concerning the war, they should tell the truth. We will get used to it and join in the solution.”

The International Police Organisation (INTERPOL) has issued a world-wide red alert on former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina. According to a report by Daily Trust, the notice was issued based on a request from the EFCC.

The anti-graft agency on November 18th 2015 wrote to the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, seeking his assistance “to issue an INTERPOL Red Alert” on Maina, who had been charged to the Federal High Court on July 10, 2015. Maina is alleged to have been involved in contract scam and stealing of N2 billion while he served as former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team

Britain on Monday granted its first licence for the genetic modification of human embryos as part of research into infertility and why miscarriages happen, in a move likely to raise ethical concerns.

“Our licence committee has approved an application from Dr. Kathy Niakan of the Francis Crick Institute to renew her laboratory’s research licence to include gene editing of embryos,” the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority said in a statement.

Niakan has said she is planning to modify the embryos using a technique known as CRISPR-Cas90.

The embryos will not become children as they must be destroyed within 14 days and can only be used for basic research.



She plans to find the genes at play in the first few days of fertilisation when an embryo develops a coating of cells that later become the placenta.

The embryos to be used in the research are ones that would have been destroyed, donated by couples receiving In-Vitro Fertilisation treatment who do not need them.

Researchers were quick to hail the decision.

The project should “assist infertile couples and reduce the anguish of miscarriage,” Bruce Whitelaw, professor of animal biotechnology at the University of Edinburgh, told the Science Media Centre.

Sarah Chan from the Usher Institute for Population Health Sciences and Informatics at the University of Edinburgh, said the research “touches on some sensitive issues; therefore it is appropriate that this research and its ethical implications have been carefully considered by the HFEA.”

In a research paper published in April last year, Chinese scientists described how they were able to manipulate the genomes of human embryos for the first time, which raised ethical concerns about the new frontier in science.

Junjiu Huang, a gene-function researcher at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, and colleagues describe how they used the CRISPR-Cas9 technique to modify the genomes of embryos obtained from a fertility clinic.

why do you disagree?

For me I agree what this man said, you have to keep aside the "my type" slogan which many of us carry about to weigh and judge every potential life partner we come across. To be real, no one never really fits into the kind of partner we want. people who are happily married today made so many adjustments to their their kind of life partner preference for them to be truly happy. some people will admit to it while others simply will not. some even threw their list away. Embrace and love that person in your life, stop putting him/her down because he/she do not measure up to what you want,rather see those things in them even when physically they do not posses them.

The key to a happy life with a life partner is sacrifice. If you can sacrifice the notion you have in your head of your ideal girl which to you must be tall,pretty and dazzling to that short,simple girl you know that makes you happy when ever you are around her and begin to vision and see in her those qualities you want for a spouse or even throw those notions away, I can assure you that years later, you would be happy with your choice. Marriage is not for a moment for do not make 'moment decision' when going about it. so may things fade but love, an understanding caring heart never fades.

Well, the disunity and tension in Peoples Democratic Party, PDP keeps heating up, I await the reaction from the other fraction of the party on this news. Alhaji Ahmed Gulak, a former Special Adviser to Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Political Matters, has declared himself as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, at the National Working Committee Hall, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Alhaji Ahmed Gulak declared himself the Party leader in company of former Special Assistant to ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe and a former Commissioner in Bayelsa State, Chief Ayakeme Whisky.

Alhaji Gulak said he made the declaration because; “of a court order of December 16, asking the party to name someone from the North-East to replace the former chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu”.

His declaration was welcomed by a cheering crowd which included workers at the secretariat. Alhaji Ahmed Gulak further urged the NWC of PDP to work with him in order to move the party forward.

A married college professor of the University of Arkansas have just being given the disgrace of his life by one of his students. A student caught the professor banging one of his female students in a classroom and he filmed the unholy act and uploaded it online for the world to see.

Former Minister of State for Interior, Chief Demola Seriki, says that in the face of the dwindling price of crude oil, churches and mosques that own businesses should pay tax to give back to the economy there are benefitting from. According to him the wealth being made from these businesses are used in buying private jets while the government losing out. He argues that many religious bodies, especially churches, had built large business empires including universities but many of them are not paying tax. He said:
“Places of worship such as churches and mosques should not pay tax but when they go into investment outside their main focus, they must pay tax. .
For example, there are some churches that are into importing and exporting and they are benefitting from the economy. You cannot do that without paying tax. They are not paying now. They use the name of the church to escape paying tax. This is wrong.
Some churches have hundreds of houses in their various camps which they rent out but they don’t pay tax to the government because they are registered as religious organisations and are not paying tax. So, we must change our tax laws.”

I wonder when Nigerians will learn. Just a spark or scratch from anything metal and they are all gone. This is what desperation and ignorance can lead one to do. Playing with death.

There is more trouble for suspected female staffer with Union Bank branch located along airport road in Benin who was alleged to have defrauded the wife of an aide to Governor Adams Oshiomhole of N15 million as she has been remanded in prison custody on the orders of an Oredo Magistrate Court pending her arraignment in February 25, 2016.

The suspect, Gloria Ogbeide, was arraigned before Justice Adejumo of Oredo Magistrate Court 4 where she is standing trial on alleged advance free fraud popularly referred to as 419.

The suspect was said to have lured his victim, whose husband incidentally is the special adviser on security to Governor Oshiomhole, to open a fixed deposit account of about N15 million .

She was said have hoodwinked Mrs Kadiri when she presented a birthday cake baked with the logo of the bank, making her believe it came from the bank.

The bubble was said to a have burst for the suspect when Mrs Kadiri requested to have access to the money and she was told that the money had been lent to the banks cooperative, development which arose her suspicion.

On investigation, it was discovered that the bank did not run a cooperative society and the money could not be traced.

Ogbeide, it was learnt, quickly wrote a letter of resignation to the bank and this was revealed to the victim.

It was further learnt that when Gloria was arrested on the account of her perceived resignation, she later resorted to blackmail stating that she was unduly molested by the Kadiris.
