To me, Atiku goofed on this debate issue. A look into past debates will reveal incumbents hardly attends. Yeah, we know majority of voters have made up their minds on their preferred candidates but still there are fence sitters who are still undecided on their choice of candidates and his excuse is just not tenable. Dude, this is not a competion against Buhari. This was a chance to present your plan and ideas to those you want and votes and plan to govern. As for Buhari, that one no just know book and he no wan disgrace himself. In conclussion, the attitude of the two 'leading candidates' leaves a lot to be desired and it shows they don't give a hoot about us. Maxymilliano:Just shut up. Was the debate a personal debate between Atiku and Buhari or a platform to present his ideas and solutions to problems bedeviling Nigerians? You are one of the reasons the Atikus and d Buharis will always be arrogant. The sooner the PDP realise the 2019 elections ain't just about trying to capture power from d APC for d sake of it, the better for us all. |
Ex house of assembly speaker, 2 term Governor of an oil rich state, Minister of one of d most vital ministries for almost 4 years. Amaechi, hunger kee you dia!!! Who u wan dey form familiarity with? Infact thunder fire u for this Lie |
Fact is, majority of these PVCs won't be available for collection by the original owners till after d elections. Do INEC have ward offices where the collection can be effected? The answer is NO! What will happen is INEC at d local govt level will release these PVCs to either the highest bidder or d party in control of govt at the state level who will combine this with d incidence form to massively rig d elections. What INEC should have done was still d PVC collection at d ward level at least 2 months to elections with paid adhoc staffs in each polling unit to effectively ensure distribution |
Oga, even you know that we know that you are a seasonal politician (Every 4 years something)..... And deep within you, you know you'll never win. Baba, just stop kidding and do something else apart from being a perenial governorship candidate |

Rexnegro:Seriously the matter weak me..... In future years, PDP will be a case study on how not to be an opposition |
This Timi Frank is South-South's own version of FFK. The way all these PDP guys are alleging intimidations and FG's plan to rig d elections shows that they know they can't win...... It's like a student who knows he ain't prepared for an exam but rather than own up, goes on a tale on how d lecturer hates him and he's sure he's gon fail him. |
You just gotta feel for this guy...... Amaka na stupid song, ehn we gree. Oya Blackface abi Blackheart go sing ur own stupid song make we see where he go carry u reach na....... This dude just know only d use of Tubaba's name can get him an interview these days. Oya Blackface, keep hating while Tubaba keeps soaring |
Abeggi! Saraki is just looking for sympathy through avoidable drama. The way all these PDP guys are alleging intimidations and FG's plan to rig d elections shows that they know they can't win...... It's like a student who knows he ain't prepared for an exam but rather than own up, goes on a tale on how d lecturer hates him and he's sure he's gon fail him |
Whether ongoing or not, PMB has started a whole Lotta projects in the Southwest and give or take, the southwest has never had it better since 1999( Even under their own son). And as for all of u saying ongoing projects, no be ongoing e go first be before e turn completed project? Certainly, from PMB's first term scorecard in d southwest, he certainly deserves the vote of every right thinking southwesterner |
But we really ain't seeing the impact of this on d economy. Seems what these foreign coys only do is get licenses to tie down these solid minerals rich plots |
And that's how parents, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, bread winners and friends would have lost their lives and loved ones due to d negligence of one person or cost saving measures of a firm (I believe the tyres must have been showing signs of old age but the company will want to 'manage' it for a while longer). Just imagine this happening at touch down. Seriously, the Nigerian air transport industry needs stricter regulations |
If the NASS were really serious about the bill, they had over 3 years in the house..... Why wait till the last minute before introducing the bill? Moreover, with the current state of the relationship between the executive and legislature, such bill will be viewed with utmost suspicion and everything would be done to frustrated it. If the NASS is really serious about the electoral bill and it's contribution to deepening of the democracy we currently enjoy, let them reintroduce the bill after elections........... YOU DON'T CHANGE THE RULES OF THE GAME MIDWAY |
Some senators and members of the House of Representatives on Friday said it was no longer feasible to start and complete the process of overriding President Muhammadu Buhari’ s veto on the 2018 Electoral Act Amendment Bill . Members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Senate had faulted Buhari’s decision to withhold assent to the document, alleging that it was a ploy by the ruling All Progressives Congress to rig next year’ s general elections. They had resolved to reach out to some aggrieved APC senators in order to get the two- thirds votes needed to override the President. But the senators appeared to have dropped the idea as of Friday afternoon when all the senators who spoke with SATURDAY PUNCH off and on record, across both parties , expressed doubts about the possibility of going ahead with the plan. The federal lawmakers specifically cited the timing of such an action and the mood of the country as reasons the action would fail . A prominent member of the PDP in the red chamber and Chairman , Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions , Senator Rafiu Ibrahim , described the refusal of Buhari to sign the document as unfortunate. He lamented that effort by well - meaning members of the National Assembly and other stakeholders to ensure free , fair and credible polls in 2019 had been defeated with the President’s action. Ibrahim said , “ I don ’ t think it’s feasible to attempt that (override Buhari’s assent) again . The President didn’t sign the bill and it is highly unfortunate because the election would have been more transparent with the new law in place. “ Obviously now , his party men in the National Assembly will toe the same line with him. So it’ s almost impossible to achieve the override now . ” Also the APC member representing Oyo North in the red chamber, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, said any attempt by the PDP lawmakers to start the process of overriding the president will be too difficult because the time was too close to the general elections. He said , “ It will be exactly four weeks to the general elections by the time we will resume in January . It is a process that requires a lot of preparations, planning and lobbying. “ It (overriding the President) cannot work since we are resuming on the 16 th when the election will be just a month ahead . How do we now pass an electoral act that will be used for the same election? INEC needs no distraction at this level. The time is too close .” An opposition senator from the North - West, who spoke on condition of anonymity , also agreed that it would be difficult to commence such a process on resumption in January . “ It is not feasible because it is too close to the election. It is supposed to have been done immediately the President returned it; but honestly , the mood to carry out such an action is no longer there now . ” A senator from the South - South geopolitical zone , who also spoke on condition of anonymity , said going ahead with the plan would amount to a waste of precious time. He said , “ I am not even sure that many of our colleagues would actually resume in January . So , getting the required number to override the President is simply, impossible . ” Another senator from the South - East geopolitical zone, who would also not have his name disclosed, said , “ We already know that we can ’t override the President again . INEC should just ensure a credible poll to avoid crisis .” Calls made to the mobile line of the Senate spokesperson, Senator Ben Murray- Bruce , did not connect and he had yet to reply to a text message sent to him on the issue as of the time of filing this report . In this vein, some members of the House of Representatives have expressed doubt about the likelihood of applying the proposed law in the conduct of the 2019 General Elections . Speaking with one of our correspondents on Friday, the Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs , Mr Abdulrazak Namdas, said the legislature no longer had time to either amend the bill as demanded by the President or override his veto before the elections. Namdas said , “ It is a difficult moment . The mere fact that we are on break and we won ’ t resume until the 16 th of January , one month to our elections, I am not sure anything meaningful can come out of it.” A senior member in the House, who did not want his name in print, also said it would be impossible to veto the bill, with the APC still maintaining majority in the chamber. The lawmaker said , “ It will not come back again , and if it does , it will die because it will be based on partisanship and the APC members will never support it. Also, because of the limited time, we cannot pass it when election is close by. It is not possible.” Source: https://punchng.com/its-late-to-override-presidents-veto-on-electoral-bill-lawmakers/ |

•Ex-governor to return for trial Nov. 30 Former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu has hailed Nigerians who have shown concern about his health condition as he recuperates from a medical procedure in Germany. He also reaffirmed his respect and faith in the judiciary, declaring that members of the Bench deserve respect and that their decision in court “must be respected until set aside at a superior jurisdiction”. Kalu said: “I have the highest respect for the personnel and processes of our judicial system. Indeed, I’m a faithful adherent of the dictum, which states that ‘no height is high enough to stand on to disrespect the judiciary and no depth is deep enough to be used as an excuse for such dishonour.'” The ex-governor underwent a successful surgical operation in Germany last month. His absence in court, following the medical treatment, had caused Justice Mohammad Idris of the Federal High Court to revoke his bail. In a thank you letter from Wiesbaden, Germany, Kalu expressed thanks to President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former heads of state and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar for identifying with him over his health condition. He also thanked All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole and his People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APG) counterparts, Uche Secondus and Victor Oye and others for reaching out to him on his hospital bed. Apparently reacting to the revocation of his bail by Justice Idris over his absence in court as a result of his medical treatment in Germany, Kalu said: “All right-thinking citizens must condemn reckless commentaries on social media or the pages of newspapers that potentially threaten these ideals. Any inappropriate commentary on the decision of Justice Mohammed Idris to revoke my bail is not acceptable to me and should be discontinued, irrespective of the positive dispositions of the propagators towards me. “The highest demonstration of affection or loyalty to me will best be measured by the degree to which this admonition is heeded. Our judges deserve unqualified respect and the sanctity of their decisions must be respected until toppled at a superior jurisdiction.” Explaining his absence in court, he said before he travelled for medical treatment, he notified the relevant authorities, while expressing his commitment towards the conclusion of his case. Said he: “I ensured adequate notifications were delivered and acknowledged by the relevant organs before travelling with my wife for my medical treatment in Europe. Unfortunately, the court case involving my humble self and others, which was adjourned sine die on the last date on which the matter came up for hearing, was subsequently listed for hearing on a new date, which conflicted with the already scheduled critical surgery appointment.” He said he had, on three occasions, postponed such “medical appointments in order to present myself in court”. “I had always placed this matter over and above all other personal considerations because defending my personal integrity and uprightness supersedes all other personal interests,” Kalu said. Saying that it was expedient he travelled for the medical treatment, Kalu said: “However, my deteriorating health condition and the emergency status it assumed made it absolutely imperative for the doctors to insist on carrying out the necessary medical procedure without further delay.” On his commitment to the court processes relating to the fraud case instituted against him and others by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kalu said of 64 court sittings he had attended 62, saying his absence in the last two sittings was due to critical ill health. Kalu gave notice of his resolved to return to Nigeria to comply with the court order revoking his bail. “I will, therefore, return to Nigeria on the 30th of November, 2018 before returning to Germany on 10th December, 2018 and 22nd January 2019 for further medical examination,” he said. If you really are disenchanted with your course, it's jst best u go for ur new choice....... But this shouldn't be because your parents and relations want you to. It should be because YOU actually want to. Cause at the end, you are all that matters. I was once in your shoes (tho me went for d one my parents wanted instead of what i actually love). I wasn't bold enough to reapply for JAMB despite me having no interest whatsoever in the course. After 4 years, i "graduated''. Long story short, i wrote JAMB this year(after 3 years of " graduating''). You have a chance not to make d same mistake i made. Long overdue. Timi Frank's grouse stems from his non appointment to succeed Lai while forgetting that the position of publicity sec was zoned to d north and @ d time of Lai's nomination as minister, d term hasn't elapsed. Timi Frank is a liability d party can do without. He ain't got no political or financial clout and believe me, d APC is better off without him |
Well, Mr. President, so far, you haven't treated all Nigerians equitably. Be it in ur fight against corruption, appointments or in any other way. Stop willing and start acting bro |
Smart fellow. Baba wan secure him future. There's no way he'll embark on this adventure, present his discharge cert to his governor and not get some reward either in cash or in form of a job offer. Wise man |
E get where Nigerians no dey sef? |
This issue has been bugging my mind for ages. In the bible (old testament), there abounds a whole lot of men who walked in the way of the lord, were mightily blessed by God and practiced polygamy(David, Jacob, Isaac, Solomon and to an extent, Abraham are prime example). Today, the popular sermon is, polygamy is a sin that's frowned at by God. My question is, since when did it become a sin? I've been perusing the bible and I'm yet to see where it's clearly written that marrying of more than 1 woman is a sin. Yes. We might say polygamy is virtually nonexistent in the new testament but can't this be as a result of d new testament not profiling a single individual(apart from Jesus Christ) d way it Profiled Abraham, Jacob, and d rest? Could it be as a result of d man leaving his father and mother and clinging to his wife to become one sermon? Ain't this also applicable in a polygamy? |
