Russian long-range cruise missiles killed three people in Ukraine's central city of Dnipro when they hit a space rocket plant and a nearby street, local officials say.

About 15 people were injured and nearby residential buildings damaged.

Dnipro's Yuzhmash plant also builds satellites - with one launched into space by Elon Musk's SpaceX company.

Russia's defence ministry said the factory made parts for Ukrainian ballistic missiles.

Another two people died when dozens of Russian rockets were fired at Nikopol, south of Dnipro, a regional leader said.

And in the north, Russian rockets hit housing overnight in Chuhuiv, a town near the city of Kharkiv, killing three people, the Kharkiv governor said.

The BBC's Joe Inwood in the capital Kyiv says that as Russia's ground offensive in the east has slowed down, there has been an increase in the number of attacks from the air - often hitting city centres.

Air raid sirens sounded right across Ukraine last night, he reports.

A graphic photo from Dnipro following this morning's attack showed a man lying face down, his head covered in blood. He was said to be a local bus driver who had just finished his shift.

Dnipro has taken in many Ukrainians fleeing the fighting further east in the Donbas region, where Russia has concentrated its ground forces.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu has ordered his forces to step up their operations in Ukraine, to prevent Ukrainian artillery and missile strikes on Russian-controlled areas. He was speaking to the military in areas they control in Ukraine, Russian media reported.

In a Facebook post, Dnipro mayor Borys Filatov urged civilians to leave the city. "There is no room for women, children and the elderly, and those who can and want to leave - leave," he said.

"They destroyed the airport several times with missiles, hit all the outskirts of the city, shot at the bridge right in the centre, bombed the oil depot and service station, but citizens stubbornly continued to ignore the air raid sirens," he complained.

"After the tragedies of Kremenchuk and Vinnytsia, I really hoped that at least someone would come to their senses."

A Russian cruise missile strike killed at least 23 people and wounded dozens on Thursday in Vinnytsia, Ukrainian officials said. The city lies south-west of Kyiv, even further from the Donbas front line than Dnipro.

The Ukrainian military says those missiles were fired by submarines in the Black Sea. Those that struck Dnipro, they said, came from bombers flying over the Caspian Sea.

Nawa oooo. This is definitely fake phone. It's obvious from the description. It says "S22" and not Samsung S22. So, even if you open a dispute about it, the seller go still win.

Guys should be careful on AliExpress oooo. I have seen phones with different name from popular brands. They would remove some letters from the original brand name and one would end up buying it thinking you bought the original.

A friend of mine that fell for this trick last year still regrets it to this day. One must tread carefully on Aliexpress.

Canada has agreed to export a natural-gas turbine back to Germany for use in the Nord Stream pipeline, issuing a “time-limited and revocable” permit to exempt it from sanctions on Russia’s oil and gas industry.

The decision was made over the objections of Ukraine’s government and the large Ukrainian diaspora in Canada, who argued that sending the pressurization turbine back would undermine the sanctions regime.

German officials have urged Canada to find a way to return the turbine, fearing Russia would use the issue as an excuse to shut down Nord Stream and cripple Germany’s ability to fill its gas storage tanks ahead of winter.

In a statement released Saturday, Canadian Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson said the export permit was issued after extensive discussions with “our European friends and allies,” as well as the International Energy Agency.

“Canada will grant a time-limited and revocable permit for Siemens Canada to allow the return of repaired Nord Stream 1 turbines to Germany,” Wilkinson’s said in a statement.

“Absent a necessary supply of natural gas, the German economy will suffer very significant hardship and Germans themselves will be at risk of being unable to heat their homes as winter approaches.”

The turbine, built in Canada by Siemens Energy AG, was sent to Montreal for repairs and became stranded due to sanctions on Russia’s oil and gas industry because of its invasion of Ukraine.

Also on Saturday, Canada announced it would expand its sanctions on Russia to include industrial manufacturing.

“These new sanctions will apply to land and pipeline transport and the manufacturing of metals and of transport, computer, electronic and electrical equipment, as well as of machinery,” said a news release from Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly.

“Once the measures are in effect, Canadian businesses will have 60 days to conclude contracts with targeted industries and services.”

In a recent interview with Fox News, a Ukrainian pilot described the direct aerial confrontation with the Russian fighter jets as a ‘suicide mission,’ adding, “I wouldn’t even find him [Russian aircraft] on the radar screen by the time he’s already launched a missile.”

All the weapons they have been sending to Ukraine are not effective against Russia as confessed by that pilot. But some kids here think Russian aviation is not up to quality with foreign ones let alone surpass them. This pilot just said they can't even track and find Russian planes on their radar, and we are not talking about the SU-57.

Fear Russia.

An economic power house like Germany is wary of plundering its own military arsenal while small Baltic states and other insignificant NATO countries are busy arming Ukraine.

Germany refuses to ‘plunder its own military’ for the sake of Ukraine

Germany has said it doesn’t want to “plunder its own military” as it refuses to send armoured vehicles to Ukraine.

Berlin has rejected a request to deliver around 200 Fuchs armoured personnel carriers to Kyiv, citing a need to preserve the country’s own security interests.

“We support Ukraine with everything that is possible and responsible. But we have to ensure Germany’s ability to defend itself,” Christine Lambrecht, the German defence minister, told the German Press Agency on Thursday.

“It is therefore irresponsible to plunder the Bundeswehr (German military), especially in these times, and even to ignore the military advice of the General Inspector.”

Ms Lambrecht said her decision was made pursuant to military advice.

General Inspector Eberhard Zorn – Germany’s highest-ranking soldier – has previously said the military did not have enough leeway to let Ukraine have the vehicles, although it is unclear exactly how many the German military have in stock.

It comes as German MPs are set to limit their consumption of hot water in anticipation of an energy shortage over the winter months.

Members of the German parliament are expected to set an example to the public as electricity prices soar to record highs and households are encouraged to save as much heat and power as possible.

The move will see all 1,800 instant boilers that provide warm water for bathroom sinks in Berlin’s parliament buildings switched off, according to a report in Der Tagesspiegel.

Germany’s opposition Christian Democrats (CDU) wanted the Government’s support in pushing through a vote in parliament on Thursday to allow for the short-term delivery of the personnel carriers.

The CDU said it was acting in accordance with a previous commitment by the German government made at the end of April to supply Ukraine with heavy weapons.

“For the Ukrainian army, it is a matter of quickly sending reliable material that can be deployed immediately on the front line. Such material is in the Bundeswehr’s inventory and is to be withdrawn from use by the Bundeswehr: the Fuchs armoured transport vehicle,” the application reads.

Olaf Scholz, the German chancellor, has come under consistent criticism at home and abroad for failing to adequately arm Ukrainian forces, despite continued pledges of military and non-military support.

The first delivery of heavy weapons from Ukraine to Germany arrived on June 21, four months after Russia’s invasion began.

In addition to seven German-made howitzers (Panzerhaubitze 2000), the delivery included 14,900 anti-tank mines, 500 Stinger air-defence missiles, 2,700 anti-aircraft missiles as well as hand grenades and artillery for handguns.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, said in his nightly address on Wednesday evening that Western-supplied weapons were “finally” making a significant impact in his country’s war against Russia.

“Finally it is felt that the Western artillery – the weapons we received from our partners – started working very powerfully,” he said
