My thoughts are that most people begrudge cesc because he is leaving at a pretty precarious and perilous period for the club but if there is one lesson to be learned emotions can only take one as far.
Again the way the saga was handled by the Spanish players I feel was the only sour point in this whole saga, no matter how good a player is once his heart is set to leave and for reasons you can do nothing to change (bad Manchester or going back home) one has no choice but to cash in.
Let's put ourselves in cesc's shoes this is a chance to take over from Xavi in the prime years of your career in your own home town club in what happens to be the best club in the world, it would be against human rights to ask him to stay, yes he owes arsenal big time for being granted the break he needed and for unlocking his true potential which is why barca are paying so much for him.
For those that say the money was not enough, well there is no point in keeping an unhappy player and you have to strike the balance as to what point you let go of the player for the sake of the team it does not mean one should fold easily, but fabregas wanting to leave and to just Barca meant arsenal was never going to get a good deal. Wenger was right to make him forfeit his severance pay because he was not being sold against his will that's 30 million plus 5 million add ons plus 4 million in what would have been severance pay that is almost 40 million.
Was there a winner here? Well financially arsenal won but psychologically Barcelona has got the edge over arsenal, it remains to be seen who has the last laugh, Barca are not exactly rolling in money and their books are definitely not as tidy as wengers and for this I envy arsenal although keeping the books balanced has come with a serious price.
Wenger must re Invest in his squad that is not negotiable, but signings do not always translate to great players I think the baptista saga should have taught you guys a lesson.
In all let's sit back and enjoy the beautiful game, I have made it a point to watch chelsea with an open mind this season and at least show more respect for sir Alex as much as I sympathise with wenger.
