CHAPTER 21.
"Vivi," Badoh repeated but this time shaking her vigorously. He was dead scared. However, Vivian moved, she stretched herself, "what is the problem?" She asked him.
"You are bleeding." A relieved Badoh finally said pointing at the bloodied white bedsheet.
"Oh my g, oh o I'm sorry. I wasn't expecting it until next tomorrow." Vivian tried apologizing after her unexpected monthly visitor came knocking.
"Your period?" He asked her and she nodded.
"Oh, stop saying sorry, it's nature." Badoh said as they stood up and undressed the bed.
"This is so embarrassing, I should be better prepared, I promise it will not happen again." Viv said but Badoh countered her, insisting she should not be apologizing. He also took the opportunity to poke fun at vivian, "the good news is that this proves you are not pregnant., ta da!!!" He said gesticulating like a magician.
"Go away jor! Please sugar, I'm going to need pad. Anywhere you can get that for me? Please?"� she pleaded.
"No probs Vivi. I'll take the car." Badoh said.
"I'll wash the bedsheet while you're out, I'll have to leave this morning," Vivian said. She was feeling a bit disappointed, her calculations had put her next menstrual flow at around 2 days time.
"Come on, you don't have to leave." He turned to her pleadingly.
"Sugar, I can always come back some other time. But I can't stay here with you, not like this, I get moody and cranky as the minutes trickle down, abi you no get?" She said feeling agitated. She was definitely tired of debating an issue she considered nonnegotiable. Badoh was one of the closest people to her, and she liked him very much, sometimes too much. She didn't want that to interfere with her decision at that moment, so she resolved to distance herself further as a mechanism for enforcing her decision to go.
"What if I go drop you this evening, I can use the opportunity to return mum's car." He said pulling closer to her and putting his hands on her waist, but she pulled clear quickly.
"Did I mention the pain that comes with it?" She asked him. She needed to get her point across to him.
Badoh looked helplessly at her, he realized that he would fight this battle in vain. More like being married to Beauty Queens like Omotola or Regina Askia (former miss Nigeria and actress). "I'll get pad for you." He said and left.
