Education / Kogi Teachers' Union Say Story Of Teacher Who Committed Suicide Is False by happiness32: 9:12am On Oct 07, 2021
With Automated/Prompt Salaries From Kogi Govt- Kogi Teachers' Union Blatantly Deny Claims of Suicide
The Nigerian Union of Teachers, Kogi State Chapter has today denied claims of an unknown teacher commiting suicide. The pseudo handler and hardened opposition member, reported a nameless teacher, with no identifiable notes, and said to have jumped into a well to end her life due to financial woes and failure of payment of salaries by the Kogi state government.

The Kogi Teachers' Union however denied the claims, saying we have not received the news of any of our member commiting suicide due to non payment of allowances.

The union also advised the public to disregard the news noting that salaries in Kogi has been consistent for years following the computerization and automation of the civil service by the Governor Yahaya Bello administration.

In his statement, the interim chairman of the teachers' union asked, what is the said teacher's name? Local government area? Institution?
The teachers union has vowed to take the perpetrators of the false news to law for dragging the name of the union and state government in mud.

Following various calls by different support groups and notable Nigerians asking Governor Yahaya Bello to run for presidency, the opposition of recent have been allegedly sponsoring fake stories to discredit the Governor. We have in recent times witnessed how the EFCC tried to discredit the Governor with untrue allegations, reports of him stepping down to Vice President even while he is yet to officially declare for Presidency.

In other news, supporters of the Kogi Governor have vowed that the fake news being sponsored against him will not deter them from being focused.

Education / Olukismet Foundation Donates Back To School Items To Schools by happiness32: 4:24pm On Oct 06, 2021
Olukismet Foundation Donates Back to School Items to Schools

In line with one of the core vision of the Olukismet Humanitarian Foundation of providing succour and aid to underprivileged persons especially in underserved communities, the Foundation has embarked on an outreach to Grace Nursery & Primary School Kpaduma 3, Asokoro village, a local suburb in the Federal Capital Territory.

Addressing teachers and students during the campaign tagged "Back to School", the leader of team, Mr. Moses Haruna said that the visit is part of the routine outreaches of the Foundation aimed at helping indigent people in local communities.

"This is what we have continued to do over the years, and we are happy that indigent Nigerians have continued to benefit from our interventions.

"Our Back to School Campaign is specifically targeted at local schools and it is intentioned to relieve parents who may not be too privileged to provide basic requirements for their children that are resuming schools", he said.

Haruna noted that the campaign is also part of the effort to contribute to children school enrolment so as to fight the increasing and disturbing statistics of out of school children in the country.

He seized the opportunity to call on the government and similar non-governmental organisations to support the education of children who may be underprivileged, noting that "the future of our nation depends on the investment we all make on educating the younger ones today".

Receiving the team at the school, the Head Teacher, Blessing Abdul could not contain her excitement over the kind gesture of the Foundation, saying that many of the children who attend the school are children of poor in the society, who indeed have needs for the items donated.

Her words: "we want to specially thank your team for putting this together and bringing smiles to our pupils. This is most commendable, and it's our hope that many more Foundation like yours would come to assist our students".

She also used the opportunity to call on the government and other well-meaning individuals to upgrade the infrastructures of local schools which he described as "improper for learning to take place".

"As you can see all around you, this place is not suitable for proper learning to take place, but we are doing our best to teach our students; government can do better than this" she said.

The highpoint of the visit was the presentation of the school items including school bags, books, writing materials and pairs of sandals to the students, which saw the pupils and teachers in high spirit and excitement.

The team also encouraged the pupils to follow through their chosen career path with hard work. The career session saw some of the pupils sharing with the team what they want to become in the future. For Adebola Stephen of basic 4, becoming a doctor is his life dream so he would be able to save the lives of people in the world. Also, Stephen Ene, a basic 2 pupil said she would want to become teacher so she would groom better leaders for the nation.

This visit was part of a continuous effort at making life easier for poor people in local communities across the nation by the Olukismet Humanitarian Foundation.

Oluboh:
Rumored VP Slot? Fear Driven Publication- Bello Ambassadors

The publication by a national newspaper alleging that the governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has backed out of presidential bid has been debunked and described as a "fear-driven" outing by the opponents of the governor.

Reacting to the trending story titled "2023: Yahaya Bello Dumps Presidential Bid, Lobbies APC Leaders For VP Slot," published about 6 hours ago, a political group, Bello Ambassadors Network (BAN) championing the taking over of the national leadership by the youth through Yahaya Bello and the major group urging the Kogi State governor to declare his interest in the 2023 presidential election said the governor is yet to answer the calls by the Nigerian youths and has not declared his interest.

The body disclosed that it was in talks with individuals close to the governor and that nothing related to dumping presidential ambition has been perceived.

It noted that it's mischievous to say that the governor who has not even declared his interest to contest for the presidency would dump such ambition. Adding that such speculations could be orchestrated by fears created by the towering name of the governor.

The national Cordinator of the Bello Ambassadors Network, Anthony Edogbo urged Nigerians to stay calmed and be committed to the actualization of the youthful presidency come 2023.

It also said the body and several other groups are still urging governor Bello to declare his interest in the top political seat in the country.

Daily Independent in the purported report of the Yahaha Bello giving on contesting for the presidential election, said, "a serving Commissioner in Kogi State, who is a close ally to the governor, said the governor has toned down his presidential ambition “given a strong feeling that the APC might pick its presidential candidate from the South”.

Lokoja, Kogi State Makes List of Fastest Growing World Economies- VisualCapitalist

The Kogi State Capital, Lokoja has reportedly made a list of the fastest growing cities according to a report by the world recognized Canadian firm, Visual Capitalist.
Visual Capitalist is one of the most recognized online publishers globally, focused on topics including markets, technology, energy and the global economy.

According to the report released by the organization on August 13th 2021, the inclusion of Kogi on the list is attributed to the increasing foreign direct investments of the state, agricultural exploration, young population and rising workforce.

The feat can also be linked to the no-lockdown policy of the Government which generated over a billion dollar worth of foreign investments making Kogi the hub of global investments in Nigeria for the year 2020.

Kogi state was also awarded number one in FDI by the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission in 2020.
Kogi state under the leadership of the Executive Governor, Yahaya Bello has witnessed massive foreign investments over the years, with an excellent economic team and advisory council set up by the state Governor.

The Government of Alh. Yahaya Bello has also raised the state IGR by over 400% and received several world bank awards and commendations for transparency and accountability.
More details on the report released by Visual Capitalist below:

Ranked: The World’s Fastest Growing Cities
By 2025, the world’s population will reach over 8.1 billion people.
Most of that population growth will be concentrated in cities across Africa and Asia. To help paint a detailed picture, this map uses data from the United Nations to rank the top 20 fastest growing cities in the world in terms of average annual growth rate from 2020 to 2025.
Full Speed Ahead
The majority of the world’s fastest growing cities are located in Africa—in fact, 17 of the 20 are located on the continent, with four of the 20 cities being located in Nigeria specifically.
Population growth is booming across the entire continent, as many countries retain high birth rates. According to the World Bank, the 2019 fertility rate (births per woman) in Sub-Saharan Africa was 4.6, compared to the global fertility rate of 2.4.

Nigeria’s economy is largely based on petroleum which has resulted in the country becoming one of the strongest economies in Africa. This, coupled with a high birth rate and a resulting young population, has given the country a strong and rising workforce.
However, the population growth in Nigeria is both a blessing and a curse. The success of the economy, among other factors, has resulted in excessive rural-to-urban migration. This mass exodus from rural areas has led to less farming, which means the country now needs to import basic food staples at a high cost.
In Mozambique, Tete and Quelimane are growing 5.56% and 5.14% respectively. The country is expected to experience strong economic growth after facing contractions due to the pandemic. Forecasts predict that the Mozambiques’s economy will grow 4% by 2022.
Implications of Fast Growth
All of the top 20 fastest growing cities are located in either Africa or Asia, and they are far outpacing growth on other continents, such as Europe, for example.

By 2050, Sub-Saharan Africa will be home to close to 2 billion people and roughly half will be under the age of 25. This represents an enormous labor force and opportunities for innovation and growth. In fact, in navigating the pandemic, Africa is already starting to capitalize on digital advances in both traditional and new sectors.
China has its eye on Africa, as evidenced through their multiple investments in infrastructure projects in the continent. Additionally, NATO countries have recently committed to investing similar amounts in Africa to counter China’s influence.
In spite of the economic potential, increased city sizes could be problematic for some of these countries. They will need to adapt to the issues associated with mass urbanization, like pollution, overcrowding, and high costs of living.
Changing Tides
Population booms can lead to massive economic growth, a larger (and younger) working population, and a growing domestic consumer market.
As the aforementioned cities continue their rapid expansion, and as people continue to flock to growing megacities in Africa and Asia, it could represent the beginning of an important economic shift that is worth keeping an eye on.

Sokoto Residents Declare Support as Bello Ambassadors Network Inaugurate State Structure

The people of Sokoto State in northwest Nigeria have declared their supports for the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello regarding the 2023 presidency, with assurance to backing the returning of power to competent young people in the country.

The state opinion leaders and political big wigs made their stance known on Sunday during the official inauguration of the Bello Ambassadors Network (BAN) structure in the state.

The event which took place at Sokoto Guest Inn witnessed several cultural displays amid the unprecedented congregation drawn from all political wards in the state.

Earlier last week, BAN's train arrived in Bauchi state where there was a massive turnout for the largest emerging political network in Nigeria.

The leadership of BAN charged the citizens of Sokoto to remain committed and steadfast in their support for Governor Bello. It also urged the appointed states officials of BAN to go into the communities and spread the message of the coming of Yahaya Bello.

BAN is enjoying massive support in the north as the people appear to be in support of a competent and young leader rather than zoning.
