Things is, Nigerians are too close minded and backward thinking. A lot of things can constitute as rape. It’s not only when a random guy abducts you and forcefully has sex with you while you scream and fight back can be considered as rape. The basic thing that defines rape is CONSENT! Whether she was wearing only her panties in the man’s bed, even if she was twerking naked for him, as long as she said NO, then he had no right to try and perform any sexual activities on her.
And since when did agreeing to cuddle him automatically imply consent to have sex with him? He even went on to give her orals and strip her. Thing is, even if she may not have fought back, bottom line is, she didn’t want sex to happen. And he went on and did what he wanted anyway. That’s a more subtle kind of rape.
Nigerians really need reonrientation of their mindset when it comes to the issue of rape. The Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami , Head of Service of Federation , Winifred Oyo-Ita , Minister of Interior , Abdulrahman Danbazzau and Acting Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Joseph Oluremi Akande have all denied their involvement in reinstatement of the former head of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina.

They made this denial while giving their statements under oath before the House of Representatives Adhoc Committee Investigative Hearing on the disappearance, reappearance, and promotion of Maina at National Assembly in Abuja.

Malami told the lawmakers that as at Oct 5, 2017, Maina's work was work in progress and not concluded, therefore, his letter of his reinstatement couldn't have emanated from me. He, however, denied ever issued such letter.

Malami stated that Maina gave useful information to his office which was shared with security agencies, leading to the discovery of billions of looted pension funds and physical assets.

Giving her own statement the Head of Service said that she decided to hold on to the letter based on the perception that reinstating Maina would have a negative impact on the anti-corruption fight of the Buhari-led administration.

"I decided to hold on to the letter and without giving an order for reinstatement, the Ministry of Interior decided to reinstate him which we got to hear in the media.

"I still have the originals of the letters with me, and there was no time I issued any order for Maina's reinstatement. And normally, there is no civil servant that can be reinstated without the express directive of the Head of Service ", Ita stated.

The Interior Minister, Abdulrahman Danbazzau told the committee that his role as minister is purely policy-oriented, and has nothing to do with reinstatement or promotion.

"My role as minister was on a policy matter that has to do with public safety and internal security and also chair anything that has to do with board that establishes prison, Immigration civil defense and Federal fire service" he stated.

On his own part Maina's lawyer, Barrister Mohammed Katung told the panel that Maina was never dismissed as he remained active in service to the government despite his physical absence ‎from the country.

‎ He revealed that a total of 23 official files were sent to him and treated as at last month adding that he also received his salaries and emoluments.

‎However, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Engineer Magaji who is at the epicenter of the controversy and carried out the said reinstatement of Maina was nowhere to be seen at the hearing.

The minister, Danbazzau told the panel that he ( permanent secretary ) went on a sick leave and was be back soon.

The acting Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Joseph Oluremi that the office of the Attorney General of the Federation initiated the letter and was subsequently acted upon by the Ministry of Interior and made the recommendation of his reinstatement.

"The delivery of the letter is the duty of the Head of Service and if the letter has not been delivered it means Maina has not been reinstated. That is the only letter Maina will take to the Head of Service and the HoS will process it. "It is either to post him back to the ministry of interior or to another ministry. For the Ministry of interior to use that letter informing them as letter of reinstatement is wrong" Oluremi remarked.

Also speaking at the hearing the representative of Inspector General of Police, DIG Valentine Toochukwu denied the involvement of Nigeria police providing security protection for maina adding that they don't know anything about his disappearance and reappearance and promotion.

The chairman of the committee , Hon. Aliu Madaki Sani adjourned the the proceedings until November 30 and asked the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Interior to appear before it unfailingly.

Barely 72 hours after talks between the management of Dana Air and the leadership of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) collapsed due to disagreement over unionization, the latter has perfected plans to ground the operations of the airline tomorrow, Tuesday.

SaharaReporters gathered that the strike will begin nationwide at 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

A source close to the union informed our correspondent that NAAPE leadership has notified all its members in aviation agencies and other airlines of its plans to picket the airline on Tuesday.

The source said the union is taking the move following the reluctance of Dana Air to allow its engineers and pilots to join the union despite deducting the check-off dues from their monthly salaries.

A document obtained by our correspondent indicated that the check-off dues of the technical personnel in the airline from January to September 2017 had grown to N999,000.

No fewer than 15 pilots and engineers from the airline had filed the NAAPE membership forms and submitted them to the management by the union between March and June 2017.

It would be recalled that during a meeting convened by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) last Friday to discuss the issue of unionization in Dana Air, the two parties failed to find common ground.

Before the weekend meeting, NCAA had mediated previous meetings with the two organizations. In one meeting, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the duo, only for Dana Air to renege on the agreement reached with the union and the industry regulator.

A source close to the meeting told our correspondent that Dana Air was represented by its Group Human Resources Manager, Mr. Anand A.B., and the Secretary of Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), Mr. Ewos Iroro. Mr. Ocheme Aba, the General Secretary, along with Mr. Charles Erikefe, Mr. Abednego Galadima, Mr. Femi Agbaje, Assistant General Secretary, and Comrade Umoh Ofonime, Deputy General Secretary, represented NAAPE at the meeting.

NCAA, which convened the meeting, was represented by Mr. Meduoye Anthony, Manager Corporate and Planning as the Chairman, Mr. Ayalsa Anthony, General Manager, Human Resources, Mr. Yakmap Julius, Assistant General Manager, Manpower Development and Training, and Mr. Ben Azeh as the Secretary at the meeting.

At the last meeting, it was gathered that Dana Air refused to abide by the earlier agreement, which led NCAA to remove itself from further mediation between the two parties.

In a related development, our correspondent further gathered that apart from Dana Air, the union may also picket operations of Med-View Airline and Air Peace before the end of the year over the same issue.
