ibn akogun: Bro get your fact right, tinubu is only fulfilling one of awo predictions. Page 205 of the heroes by awolowo states that one day the best of the conservatives will team up with the best of the progressives to rescue the nation. And that is about to happen.Let me just add, I think you are a bit naive - Awolowo basically served as number 2 to Gowon during the Civil War. What did he benefit from that? Did the North trust him enough to recommend him for the presidency? No. It was the same story with Abiola. |
ibn akogun: Bro get your fact right, tinubu is only fulfilling one of awo predictions. Page 205 of the heroes by awolowo states that one day the best of the conservatives will team up with the best of the progressives to rescue the nation. And that is about to happen. If you think teaming up with the North is such a great idea - please go and study, see whether Zik got anything in return for his support of the North. Ask yourself whether Alex Ekwueme got any thing in return from being a loyal servant of the North - or what Saro-Wiwa & Elechi Amadi benefited from their almost fanatical support of the North? Saro-Wiwa was hanged, the Niger Delta that has consistently supported the North since independence was abandoned by them. Maybe there are no elders in Yoruba land who anyone listens to again. Maybe Tinubu has shut everyone up, I don't know. This goes beyond "performing governors" and all these childish slogans you people throw about - this journey you want to embark on, where does it lead, what could go wrong and what do you do if it goes wrong? |
ibn akogun: Bro get your fact right, tinubu is only fulfilling one of awo predictions. Page 205 of the heroes by awolowo states that one day the best of the conservatives will team up with the best of the progressives to rescue the nation. And that is about to happen.By "best of the conservatives" you mean people like Yerima and Modu Sheriff? You think Awo would have had any thing to do with such people? Let me give you a low down of what will happen assuming APC wins. 1. A Hausa/Fulani Northerner will be president - maybe his VP will come from the SW, SE or SS. 2. The Hausa/Fulanis will take full control of the party away from Tinubu - Tinubu will have only five states he controls: Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun & Ekiti. While the Hausa Fulanis will be in full control of 12 states: Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Bauchi & Gombe. 3. Igbo politicians being businessmen will simply join up with APC - so Ebonyi, Anambra, Imo & Abia will side with the Hausa/Fulanis in that party. 4. Yorubas & Hausa/Fulanis will never get on well, so there MUST be friction in that party, but since the Hausa/Fulani form an overwhelming majority - it will be very difficult for Tinubu to advance the South West's position in that party. 5. The South West, led by Tinubu will pull out of that party, but then it will be too late. Hausa/Fulanis will simply substitute them for the Igbos and some people from the South South. 6. Tinubu's present behaviour has led to a lot of mistrust from the South East & South South - so it will be extremely difficult to form a coalition with them in future. This is all Awolowo saw and was prepared to do the long painstaking work of building a coalition where Yorubas aren't the overwhelming majority, but at least in which the party cannot win elections without them. Awolowo would have jumped at the coalition that supports Jonathan now - Igbos, Niger Delta plus Northern minorities. You add the South West to that, it becomes a majority in perpetuity. But if you want to return to the bitter experience of June 12 of military regimes where Yorubas are 2ic but seldom ever have any power - you are welcome (if you doubt me, go and ask General Oladipo Diya (rtd)). Well, I guess you are smarter than I am & so is Tinubu. But I INSIST that Awolowo saw far ahead & wasn't just looking for immediate gains of political thuggery like Akintola. End of story. |
"Awo never understood real politics at any time". That is nonsense - Awo understood Nigeria & its politics perfectly, he was vindicated by June 12. Awo understood that the Hausa/Fulani will never willingly give power to Yorubas - you can see what happened to Abiola. Cast your mind back to 1999, the Hausa/Fulani imposed Obasanjo, but even at that, they barely allowed him to do his job. They disturbed him with Shari'a law and Atiku almost frustrated him - trying to force him to do only one term. Today, Tinubu thinks he's smart. The Hausa/Fulani will play along with him, giving him illusions of grandeur. He'll think he's "Nigeria's kingmaker". The day the Hausa/Fulani regain power - they WILL FINISH him. Mark my words. A word is enough for the wise - Igbos, Middle Belt and the Niger Delta used to have a Master/Servant relationship with the Hausa/Fulani, they are wiser today. Politics for Awo wasn't merely about controlling the center, it was about controlling the destiny of the Yoruba people and not serving as somebody's slave. Ask yourselves this important question - who have the Hausa/Fulani ever had a "partnership of equals with"? Igbos? Niger Deltans? Middle Belters? Northern Christians? Who exactly? |
Ketopofen, This is what the new airport terminal should look like:
|
ubomez2@yahoo.c:Thanks, are you sure this is not the "perishable cargo" terminal? |
ketoprofen: Facebook - Benzyl Penicillin. Please confirm whether this is the pix of the airport terminal:
|
ketoprofen: Facebook - Benzyl Penicillin.Thank you very much. |
ketoprofen: yes it has been built up, plastered, roofing skeleton has been done. Please post the pictures, if you have problems doing that on this forum, you could post them to your Facebook page and give us the link. |
Warri _Pikin: Ketoprofen, even God wan tell you say, that picture of Enugu airport is not needed right now in the internet. Una have to learn how to control your youthful exuberance and be wise. Sometimes, i ask why Igbos are not politically savvy and wise?Abeg, the airport project isn't some hidden project in the bush, it is in ENUGU - many people visit Enugu, you can't hide it from the detractors, they already know the progress of work on the project a lot better than we do - it is near the renovated airport terminal. Every major newspaper house has a bureau in Enugu, they know this stuff & they tell their political masters. Please anyone who wants to, should post pictures of that terminal building. If nobody does, I PROMISE to the next time I travel to Enugu. |
ketoprofen: Pix can't upload, larger than 200 kbDo you have Photoshop or Coreldraw on your laptop? You could save them as smaller images. Alternatively, you could post the pictures on Facebook or Twitter & then link us to your FaceBook page. Anyway, how big does the structure look? |
forget dat tin! It is Buhari for president, Okroacha or Fashola for vice. I prefer Fashola but they will likely give it to Okroacha so dat those tribal and regional igbo bigots go calm down their aggrieved nerves small and vote for change.. Any which way, up #APCWhen somebody presents a logical analysis, you resort to wishful thinking that isn't likely to be borne out by facts. 1. Buhari isn't very popular in the South for obvious reasons and an APC nomination of Buhari will be very problematic. 2. Fashola is a Muslim, he's also from the South West. I've explained to you carefully why his nomination will be problematic if paired with a Northern Muslim 3. The best bet is for APC to nominate a Northern Christian and pair him with Fashola, but given the presence of religious bigots like Yerima in APC, that is 100% impossible. 4. As I said earlier, let's wait for the APC convention before we start talking. |
All of this noise about APC, I'm waiting for the fallout from their presidential convention. A few things I can predict: 1. Tinubu and Buhari will scuffle over who is to be the presidential candidate. 2. The choice of running mate will divide the party. A Northern Muslim will be chosen as the presidential candidate, so a Christian will have to be chosen as running mate. 3. There would intense pressure for Tinubu to anoint one of the SW governors as running mate - unfortunately most SW governors are Muslims, so this will narrow the choice to Fayemi (if that criteria is used). If the criteria is junked, Fashola becomes the logical choice for running mate. 4. A choice of a South West running mate will mean that after 8 years controlled by the North, the South West will control the presidency for another 8 years - making a total of 16 years between the South West & the North. This will be unacceptable to either the South South, South East or Middle Belt. 5. Oshiomhole, Rochas or Amaechi might be considered for the vice-presidency, but knowing Tinubu, he will not nominate anyone to the vice-presidency that he cannot control. So, some unknown figure from the South South MIGHT be chosen. 6. If Rochas doesn't get the vice-presidency, he'll be out of APC in a hurry. That's what he's really fighting for, if he doesn't get it, no deal. 7. If there's nobody from the South West on the APC ticket, I still expect SW voters to vote APC, but not as passionately. So until APC goes for its convention, everything is open. |
You people haven't called a probe for the "Lekki/Epe toll road buy back", because Tinubu/Fashola/APC are behind it. Yet you claim that you are "objective". |
Just my two cents here. A lot of you Lagos posters are here making noise without understanding the intricacies of politics in Anambra State. I have a simple question: who are the Catholic Bishops likely to support? Forget all the big grammar & big English you read on the pages of newspapers like "The Punch", these are hidden issues that really matter. |
Anambra State has three choices - none of them is good. 1. Be controlled by Fidelity Bank. 2. Be controlled from Bourdillon (like most states in the South West). 3. Become a subsidiary of Capital Oil. Out of these three which one would the typical Anambra man find preferable? Well the typical Anambra man DETESTS being controlled from Bourdillon - that will be eliminated. Seeing how uncouth & unlettered Ifeanyi Ubah is, no smart person would want him in charge of the Anambra treasury. Unfortunately, Fidelity Bank is the best of a couple of very bad alternatives. |
This was the position of the terminal building as at August this year, please how much has changed since then?
|
ketoprofen: @Henry, I went there two months ago and I saw the new terminal has been built up, far from the foundation level but not yet roofed and all that. Please I am very interested in how far work has gone on the new international terminal building - please post pictures or provide details as soon as you can. |
Kairoseki77: Enugu has one of the smallest economies in NIgeria I would not be surprised if the airport suffers from low patronage. What does that mean? You think you can compare Enugu State with Gombe or Ekiti? Nigerian GDP figures are nonsensical. State GDP is based on Federal account allocation, which is based on spurious "census" figures. Apart from that there's nothing of substance in them. I've been to Enugu & seen the economic activity; it is in a different league from Gombe, Ekiti, Bauchi, Osun, Ebonyi - & virtually more than most of the states in Nigeria. Secondly, Enugu international airport can serve everyone from Benin to Makurdi to Aba to Onitsha to Nnewi. |
Please, these GDP figures are largely based on FAAC allocation figures (i.e. who gets what based their "population"). They are basically meaningless. |
Please does anyone know anything about the progress of work on the new international terminal building? |
ujoinme: Detractors will say whatever they want to say, she should be bold and do the right thing by building a taxiway @ enugu airport to give it a befitting intl' status both lagos and kano have 2 runways complete with taxiways. so one standard runway with taxiway for enugu is not doing too much.According to the PW Group Website a taxi way is being constructed as part of the runway expansion project: http://www.pwlimited.com/Projects.aspx?PID=86 I think it will lead to the new international terminal building Please when last where you at Enugu? |
Does anyone have an update on the status of work on the new terminal building the Chinese are constructing? |
Symphony007: i was refferencing the return flight to addis ababa enrouth london which chime and ekweremadu were on. But this one still has some revealing undertones. It's clear that people like you don't like progress outside your narrow enclave in Nigeria. I'm sorry there's nothing I can do about that. |
Symphony007: i was refferencing the return flight to addis ababa enrouth london which chime and ekweremadu were on. But this one still has some revealing undertones. Please explain, I'm all ears. I shown you solid evidence that the route is very profitable. What is your problem? |
This is a screenshot of the flight on Saturday. So are politicians also flying on Saturday, because the flight is almost fully booked? Ethiopian Airlines said they will have to switch to a bigger plane very soon due to demand.
|
Symphony007: Is'nt it ironic that among the majority of the passengers on this plane are politicians and igbo PDP big wigs. On the return flight, among the passengers were the state governor, sulivan chime and his aides, deputy senate president, ike ekweremadu and his aides. They can keep cooking the books and the media can keep trumpeting how many people land and take off everyday but soon when things go fallow, everyone's eyes will be turned away. You don't know what you are talking about, this is a screenshot from the flight on Friday (from Enugu to Dubai). All the economy seats are booked (only the business class seats are yet to be taken).
|
CFCfan: According to the Aviation minister, 7 airlines are planning to start flights into Enugu.I'm not sure that airport can cope with 7 airlines right away - the immigration staff & co. are still very lousy & they struggle with only one international flight per day. I'm not an enemy of progress, but we Nigerians (whether it is at Lagos, Abuja or PH airports) seldom get even basic things right. |
CFCfan: According to the Aviation minister, 7 airlines are planning to start flights into Enugu. When did she say that? |
This link has lot's of pictures from the inaugural flight.http://elombah.com/index.php/photo-video/17333-photonews-ethiopian-airlines-departs-enugu-with-153-passengers |
millionaireman: Once the Enugu route becomes very lucrative - usually many passengers - British Airways and other European airlines shall compete over themselves to fly the Enugu route. The Brits go to where ever the money is; the Brits should not harbour any grouse against Enugu. They will come, but it depends on the politics played at Abuja. If a Northerner is president, he won't give them landing rights at Enugu, instead he'll tell them to start flying first from Kano. That is our most serious problem. |
henrychubayo: macjive01, please which personalities were live at the airport?Anyim Pius Anyim was there, I saw the Anambra State governor & Princess Stella Oduah. |
