Today we are all agitating about the indiscriminate killings, bombings, social conflicts and all the occurrences that pose a threat to our existence and peace. Mass media, social media and the society is abuzz with news, discussions and thoughts about the insurgencies happening close or far away from us while some of us keep mute about the issue. What is the Genesis of these wars? Who is to blame? How can we help those caught up in it? While some of us believe peace is disrupted when people are engaged in physical assault and oppression. Some of us believe war erupt when our freedom is taken from us and our lives becomes pawn in the hands of those who threaten our social equilibrium and peace. The rest of us believe war is beyond the explosions, insults, assaults, kidnappings, pilage, killings and media misrepresentation we witness. We believe that war starts when our heart is in discord with the standard that our society has set. The confusing truth is that every war, conflict and social unrest experienced have an origin traced to our minds and selves. Our ideas, culture, values, beliefs are prerequisites that defines our personality and attitude towards things. The ability to channel emotions properly eludes some of us. Channelling our emotions, thoughts and words in a socially acceptable manner is another challenge . Sometimes the problem is not just limited to us. We find ourselves in an environment whose values, culture & practices contradicts ours and clash of thoughts & principles are inevitable. We struggle with people who see us as villains, delinquents, violent and misguided because of our diverse beliefs. Other times, the problem lies in the society. The society is engrossed in stereotyping and people start to forget that humans are unique beings and will manifest unique qualities. We expect everyone to see things in the same way we do, to share our views without disagreements. All these are indestructible fuel for conflicts. Until we find a way to handle emotional conflicts within us, media interference, relief aids and other methods of conflict resolution are just palliatives. Before we speak about wars, conflicts and societal delinquencies, we need to look inside ourselves and determine if our actions, thoughts, attitude are helpful or destructive to humanity. We need to realise that it is sometimes required that we compromise in order for peace to reign. It is not alien for us to feel oppressed, cheated, unhappy, stereotyped and other inexpressible hurtful feelings but it is also necessary for us to realise that our paths and fates are interwoven that our actions affects not only is but also inversely affect people around us and the society at large. In the end, we may need to rely on the element of time. When our actions are aimed at a good course and help to humanity, it becomes evident and vice-versa with time. The element of time reveals whom we truly are to ourselves and people around us which determines if people will be ready to tolerate us, defend us and accept our ideas, beliefs and values. To win the war we fight within ourselves and beyond, we need to identify individuals as unique beings, learn tolerance of people and self discipline in all ramifications of social interaction which is priceless. It is not uncommon to enjoy a joke and also not a rare sight to have people who are offended by it. Our racial diversity, knowledge, educational background, age, beliefs usually take the blame for our insensitivity but this is sometimes a diversion to obfuscate our wrongdoings or just the bitter truth. Can body-shaming ,cyber bullying, racial discrimination, gender oppression and other situations that cause us grief be totally eradicated? The answer leans more to "NO". Watching others suffer and making others feel miserable seem to take away some of our pain. We use people's pain and shame as point of reference for self-righteousness, why we should be grateful and optimistic about life. We see no wrong in using offensive words on people whose wrongdoings has been exposed even when we commit atrocities in hidden or open. Using people's pain, humiliation and anguish as a yardstick for our emotional intelligence, self-development may seem like a cruel thing but in the end it is a defence mechanism to urge us to keep living. When we stop using people's dilemma to help us move on from our pain and disappointments, we may gradually lose the drive to keep moving forward. People's pain may not necessarily be a yardstick to rate all set of achievement for us, it may be the one that open our eyes to our dreams and aspirations. When we identify a societal problem, vice and need, it may spur us on to attempt to provide solutions to the problem the society is entangled in. People's insecurities may make us identify our role to play in eradicating the problem and thus aspirations are born and fueled by desire to alleviate the suffering of humanity and bring peace. Drawing the line between mockery and problem solving is the slippery path most people lose themselves to. Whatever situation we find ourselves in, we should endeavour not to infringe on the rights of others, we should not be too uptight and stiff in our actions. Flexibility and compromise may be the prerequisite to the stability we seek. Being considerate and kind to others is certainly an attribute we all need to attain. What may seem like mockery to us may actually be the sensitisation we need to work on ourselves but our change-resistant minds may be too biased to see it. We get agitated about words, actions that even earn us sympathisers who share our views, but in the end we are the ones who need to open our minds and be more open to new ideas, innovations and inventions if we are to develop ourselves, attain success and emotional intelligence. Little act of kindness in words and actions may seem like an alluring idea but it is never enough. Societal development and self development may only be achieved through controversial decisions. Loving your body and personality is a beautiful thing but quickly turns sour when it impedes with our health in form of obesity, bigotry and undernourishment . Culture may seem like a beautiful thing until it harness emotional instability, health emergencies and kill dreams from practices such as female genital mutilation, child marriages and male child preference. In situations like this jokes and harsh criticism may seem like a witch-hunt but in the end, it is the awakening we need even if some people feed off the chaos the situation brings for material gain when people try to show us our erroneous and destructive beliefs. Our fears sometimes blinds us from facts and make us victimise people just because we have people who support us. Our fearful heart pushes us beyond reasoning till we don't realise that we have that we have become cruel oppressors while trying to liberate people forcefully from we perceive as bondage. The fact that change is inevitable should be a guide for our actions . Forcing people into accepting our ideas and innovations can be disastrous but showing people the benefit of our ideas and innovations which has been tailored to suit their geographical topography and lifestyle needs may seem like a better plan. Learning to channel our thoughts politely is very essential. The media is an important tool in attaining peace if controlled by the right people. Insecurities can never vanish but can be placated so it is important we know how to channel our ideas and actions without infringement on the rights of others. The world is a connected place so it is important we learn good communication and cohabitation skills if we are to achieve our dreams and achieve any societal development. Would just like to correct a statement op..it's mentioned in the Qur'an... And the statement goes thus: "Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then marry only one.." Qur'an chapter 4 verse 3 |

hfeetham0:you should very well that the earth is a big sphere (geoid) which implies that something could be spread inside it.... things dont only spread on a flat surface... further more: The "two Easts" and "two Wests" on earth in the Noble Quran and the roundness of the earth: The earth literally has two sun rising points and two sun setting points! Noble Quran and Science agree on this: Before we look at the Noble Verses, it is important to know when the sun rises on one half of the earth, it is at the same time setting on the other half, and when it sets on one half of the earth, it is at the same time rising on the other half. This clearly means that the earth literally has two sun rising points (mashriqayn) and two sun setting points (maghribayn)! Now let us look at what Allah Almighty Said in the Noble Quran: "GOD of the two Easts, and GOD of the two Wests. (The Noble Quran, 55:17)" The Arabic words "mashriqayn" and "maghribayn" were translated as "two Easts" and "two Wests" respectively. It is important to know that Noble Verses 55:10-25 are speaking about the earth and the some of the Creations that exist on it. The two root Arabic words "Sharq" and "Gharb", which mashriqayn and maghribayn are derived from respectively, can also literally mean the rising point of the sun, and the setting point of the sun. |
