irunoobo: This election is not about GEJ been scammed in southwest or not. The people of the SW and north spoke the truth with their votes. It is unfortunate the Igbos made a wrong political gamble by supporting GEJ even though he failed woefully and did nothing tangible for their region. They failed to forget the past and embrace national unity hence their political decisions has always damaged their chances of having a major political influence or relevance in the Nigerian system.
There were so many indications that Jonathan was going to lose - He prepared late; he was careful with the timing of his declaration, when body language showed he was interested. He had no message for the people. All I heard were trains and fertilizers, YouWin, benin-Ore road and SureP(Really?) for 6 years. His campaign strategies reeled of derogatory statements and unnecessary personality attacks instead of concrete manifestos. APC employed consultants, PDP employed losers (FFKs, Okupe, Abati, Reuben, TANs etc). Jonathan heated the polity with ethnic-religious campaign strategies, jumping from one church to another; what do you think the Muslims would do? His wife continued to make derogatory statements against the North calling them names for making babies they can't cater for and insulting them with the constant mention of Almajiri schools. He was deceived by his aides , greedy people around him and he became a sectional leader. He was a bad product and I made mention of this regularly, a bad product never sells.
So I would say he scammed himself, he deceived himself by running to the south west bribing kings for endorsements as if the masses don't know what they really want.
He has successfully created a divide along tribal, religious and ethnic line all around the country and it will take a massive national reorientation to restore our national unity.
I will not pat him at the back for conceding defeat cos he already knew what awaits him if he acted on the contrary. He was part of the crew that ousted Gbagbo and he is fully aware of the watchful eyes of the ICC and instead of spending the rest of his life in jail like Gbagbo, he chose to return to Otueke to enjoy his loot in peace.
Gej should have won this elections easily if he had the interest of the masses at heart. He will forever live with the stigma of the first incumbent president to be ousted in Nigeria. You do not have the brain to compose this manner of write up so acknowledge the source. And nothing says the igbos must vote buhari en masse. Some did others did not. That is the beauty of democracy. The day will come when we will have a president of Nigeria and not a president of the regions that vited for him. You guys still have a long way to go in this country. Thank God baboons and dogs are not bleeding. |

sukkot: see thats the problem with mentally re-tarded people like you who have never left nigeria. i think buhari needs to create a program where every nigerian must spend at least 2 years in a civilized country and then return to nigeria. then maybe your retar-ded a55 will be up to par mentally with civilization and know how humans are supposed to act. you still have that animal mind. acting all surprised and shocked and in awe that someone admits that they were defeated. thats what you are supposed to do. it should not be celebrated. its like celebrating retardation. but then again you are a re-tard so i see why you celebrate re-tardation I did not bother to read the trash you wrote. I was only interested in your nonesense about not travelling out of Nigeria. Some of us are damn to modest to be bragging about that. In case it means anything to you, i audit my company's off shore branch. If you know what that means, you can imagine how often i traverse the ocean. For good measure too, most of our board meetings are rotated around off shore locations where we have our directors. That again should give you an insight. I could probably buy you, your father, family, village and generations dead and the ones in future. So just shut up and admit that you have an arrested development. The fact you are mentally challenged and ferried abroad by contributions made by well meaning nigerians does not qualify you to spew rubbish here. I travel all expenses paid by my employer. Now go back to your bed and await your next injection to the brain. I need to do some work. I am not a patient i am gainfully employed. If MEND or whoever it is decides to be recalcitrant and commences the devastation of the oil pipelines from the creek what do you think will happen. Will Buhari go and bomb the entire Niger Delta area? Post like mature people for once. Buhari must have enough challenges on his hands so let us not create more. He should first please release the chibok girls from his kanuri abi fulani brothers who had been marauding and then also request that they should now stop killing their kiths. They made Nigeria ungovernable as promised and having succeeded they should now make it governable at least for their brother. If GEJ had his way, he would have sack and replace Jega but he was advice by the Americans not to do so. GEJ used his men to rig elections and intimidate the opposition in Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom so that he can get inflated figures but he was outdone by high votes from kano and other northern cities. I still thank him for accepting defeat so that no lives is lost because there might be violence if he didn't accept defeat And the Northern figures were not manipulated. januzaj: Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has congratulated the Presidential candidate of the All progressives congress Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd,,) on his victory in the presidential poll, charging him to fight corruption and carry out reforms in different sectors.
The congratulatory message was made available to our correspondent at Abeokuta on Tuesday following Buhari victory in the March 28 presidential election.
Obasanjo, who noted that so much harm had already been done to many national institutions, including the military, however, advised him to be magnanimous in victory.
He said, “With so much harm already done to many national institutions including the military, which proudly nurtured you and me, you will have a lot to do on institution reform – education, healthcare, economy, security, infrastructure, power, youth employment, agri-business, oil and gas, external affairs, cohesiveness of our nation and ridding our land of corruption.
“Your varied and wide experience will undoubtedly stand you in good stead.”
The former president said the country “is blessed with men and women of goodwill, character and virtue across the board that you can mobilise to join hands with you in the reform, repairs and re-direction that will be imperative to put Nigeria back on the fast lane of good governance, unity, cohesiveness, development and progress.”
Obasanjo noted that Buhari’s victory, after three previous unsuccessful attempts, must be a great lesson to himself and for all politicians, particularly in Nigeria.
He said, “For me, the totality of 2015 elections hold many lessons for our democracy and democratisation process, which are both maturing.
“On this occasion, the system has been unnecessarily overheated before and particularly during the campaigns when emphasis was more on trivialities and hate, divisive, undignifying and disrespectful statements and comments rather than on pressing issues requiring attention.
“I know that in victory, you will be magnanimous to start binding the wounds and bitterness occasioned by the campaign and the evil disciples.”
. http://www.punchng.com/news/obasanjo-congratulates-buhari-asks-him-to-fight-corruption/ This shameless man that tried a third term bid is also talking. He should go amd concentrate on how to continue fvcking his daughter in law and leave state matters to people with some iota of integrity. He has no moral standing to make any input. Jonathan by his willful handover has shown that he is more a man of integrity and now belongs in the class of Nelson Mandela. Jona I respect you. You tower high even in the face of a loss. Politics › Re: Five Reasons Why Jonathan Lost- BBC by hardbody: 8:16pm On Mar 31, 2015 |
Krak: Nigerians are so used to the idea that an incumbent should win presidential elections that President Goodluck Jonathan's failure to beat Gen Muhammadu Buhari needs some explaining. Here are five reasons why the opposition won:
1: Harder to rig Past elections have been marred by serious irregularities and suspicions of rigging. In 2007 observers said the presidential poll was not "credible". In 2011 the vote was considered to be better run but observers said that rigging and fraud still took place. This time the electoral commission took more steps to prevent rigging, including new biometric voters cards. Also President Jonathan's party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP), had lost control of some key states which meant it could not control the electoral process there.
2: Boko Haram and security
The Nigerian army has made some recent gains against Boko Haram, but not enough to convince Nigerians The election took place against the background of an Islamist insurgency in the north-east of the country. The Boko Haram militant group has killed 20,000 people and forced some three million others from their homes and President Jonathan was criticised for not getting to grips with this. The poll was delayed for six weeks to give time for the security situation to improve, but even though most areas controlled by Boko Haram were recaptured, it seems to have come too late for many people.
3: United opposition, crumbling PDP
The extra six weeks of vigorous campaigning by the PDP was not enough to halt the slide in the party's fortunes The PDP has been described as an election-winning machine. When it was created it united a northern elite with leading politicians from the south, but that alliance has broken up and the party lost some key figures. Even former President Olusegun Obasanjo came out against Mr Jonathan. At the same time, the opposition managed to unite under the All Progressives Congress (APC) banner. The last six weeks of desperate and dirty campaigning, in which the APC responded in kind, was not enough to turn the tide.
4: Economy
Nigeria's economy is growing but the wealth is not being spread around Nigeria is Africa's biggest oil producer and its largest economy, but many fail to feel the benefits with nearly half the population living below the poverty line. Continued corruption is seen as partly being to blame. National income is due to grow by more than 5% this year and next year, but people did not seem in the mood to thank Mr Jonathan for this.
5: Time for a change
APC supporters chanted "change" wherever they went and it seems to have caught the mood. The PDP has been in power since the end of military rule in 1999, and 2015 is the year that Nigerians decided that someone else should have a go at sorting things out.
President-elect Buhari now has to prove he really can change things.
http://m.bbc.com/news/world-africa-32136295 No problems at all. Let us watch the oil price and dollar stabilize, improvement of our foreign reserves, creation of jobs, Feeding of public school kids, improvement in light and road network etc. Only then will our joy be complete. And lest i forget bring back the chibok girls |

but wat did we Nigerians get in return. .. massive corruption; insecurity; inability to take solid and sound decision etc etc
So now we have decided to try the man Buhari whom for yrs has been begging us to give him a chance. ..
if he messes up... Then we the people will vote him out jst have we have done to pdp & jona... Your points are strong. However power will not leave the North in our generation. This is the permutation you guys did not take into consideration. He or any other northerner will not have the innocent simplicity or call it stupidity of GEJ. It is bye bye to power for any other region for generations to come. I only hope that light improves, roads are fixed, employments are created, foreign reserves are built up, kids in public schools are fed a meal each day, the naira slide is arrested and oil price goes up. Those were his promises. Those are the yardsticks with which he should be measured. I wish Nigeria Gods speed. |

While Nigerians are happy that their wish has been respected, we all should be cautious and maintain a sportsmanly relationship with the gentleman who has lost in a gallant battle well fought and lost. Attitudes that tend to rubbish his mien are the kind of things that make losers revolt and refuse to accept defeat. It is good that this has been well managed, it is better that we strive to maintain the spirit of give and take so that there will be no feeling of bad blood.
I had personally prayed for the better 'player' to win. Buhari appeared to be the better gamer in this chessgame. Let us welcome him with all tje accolades without smearing the loser. That way we can have a seamless transition devoid of any incidence of regret.
I congratulate Nigeria and Nigerians. It is another 4 years of hopeful expectations. May God or Allah direct the steps of the in coming President. |
