SegFault:Wait ooo. Is there another python language apart from the one I know? When I started learning it, I used to open some files bundled with the Ubuntu operating system to try to see whether I can understand some of the code. My dear, it was somehow. It still is somehow when I'm reading python code |
Brukx:Bro, most of the statements you made here are not true. Python is NOT the most readable PL. I think Javascript tops that list. Till now, I can't look at a python source file without getting an eyesore. Did you say closest to English language? Aswear, that's all hype. I've been working with many programming languages for a while now and I must say that even though python is easy to learn, it's not easy to maintain programmes written with the language |
Taofeekdboy:Bro, what are you on? I didn't read the rest of your post and stopped at where you said Java is not secure. Java might be anything else, buh not secure? Bring any other programming language that offers better security than Java out of the box... Don't say that again ooo |

Okay guys. So you want to learn reverse-engineering (or hacking as some people call it). I started a YouTube playlist aiming to teach beginners how to start with reverse-engineering. You should check out the videos and start learning now! Make sure though, that you've some basic knowledge of assembly language cause we're going to be using it HEAVILY in this series. I'll be updating this thread as I add more videos to the playlist. If you want to get started with learning assembly language, please click here Hope this helps someone, cheers! |
sexylassie2:Well, we can think of this as more of a discussion than an argument. To address your points, advanced mathematics is NOT very important in programming. You know what they say, you only use what you need, when you need it. Because I'm creating a chat app with firebase on android now doesn't mean that I have to use ANY advanced maths. I mean, there are already libraries that took care of these stuff for me, so if what I'm currently maintaining is the logic for a chat application, then It's not necessary for me to use any advanced mathematics whatsoever. If I'm working on an advanced calculator or a game however, then I obviously need some more maths knowledge beyond basic algebra. To answer to your last point, you're right about programmers being craftsmen or women. Yeah, they can make or destroy a project, but they don't have to be mathematicians. |
Karex81:Come on, man! I use C++ ALL the time, and I only ever use maths when I'm working on gamedev. I wonder what you'll need maths for in a chat application though. I mean, it's just useless. Learning advanced maths is good, buh it's definitely not a requirement. |
sexylassie2:You talk about the mathematics like it's some sort of requirement for programming. It's not all of programming that requires maths. In fact, I can think of a few. In web development, I can develop a CMS using PHP without having to worry about ANY mathematics whatsoever (unless you're regarding basic arithmetic like addition, subtraction, division and multiplication as mathematics, which, of course every body that attended even primary school already knows). In fact, I've made plenty websites using PHP, and I don't recall using any mathematics of some sort. Let's not be scaring newbies that are trying to learn this stuff with maths jawe. I'm not saying maths is not a good skill to have with your programming knowledge, it's just NOT a requirement. You can do pretty fine in programming even if you don't know maths. |
Referring to the topic op started. Let's look at the facts. We can talk all day about theory but the only truth will be in the facts, what we can all see. If you say computer science graduates can't do nothing (which is what is in your post header), by nothing you mean what exactly? Cause as far as I know, most of the software products you put your hands on is made by these same people you're saying can't do nothing. If you put Nigeria into perspective, then your points might be valid. Buh in other parts of the world, they are CS graduates that know EXACTLY what they're doing. Let's take Google and Apple for example. Most of the employees working on their software products are computer science graduates. So really, your points about CS graduates not being able to do sh!t is only valid here in Nigeria. Goan look at people working on the Android platform. If you check the source code, you'll find data structures and algorithms that if you dinor go to a computer science school, it will look like rubbish to you ni. Those guys are really doing stuff, so don't let us use our local knowledge to diminish the credibility of this field. About those self-taught developers. I for one am self-taught, and I'm not delusional in any way. Shebi as my school no fit teach me programming, I no go learn am on my own? |
seunthomas:Thanks for this bro. I know this may not mean much to others, but it means everything to me. Sometimes, these little things are all I need to keep me in line. |
I suggest you check out the django website's documentation. There's tons of help there |
It looks awesome bro. Since it's a template, I'm assuming it's supposed to be one page, right? If it's a complete website, add some dynamic content or a couple of pages, maybe even some sections (like post section, about, contact me, and all those stuff). Great stuff though, the design looks fluid. |
aremuforlife:Do you still need the mentor thing? I might be able to help you. I'm more of a C++ person nowadays, but I was baptized with the Java programming language. I'm not asking for money or anything, just want to help you get a good understanding of programming like I did from numerous resources online. I'm only ever consistent on WhatsApp: 08100493234. All other social networks, I access only like once or twice a month. |
crownedrookie:Bro. I don't have to comment or say anything about this, but I want to, so... Some people are here to seek for knowledge just like you, and when they encounter questions like the one you posted and don't understand, they ask you to rephrase the question. It's not a big ask, afterall, you're learning too. Na everything wey you read you dey understand at once? And if you don't ask more questions, you don't acquire deeper knowledge of the subject matter. So take it easy on them, and try to help people that come along and asks for your help. The free resources you're getting online, with easy-to-understand materials and content were made by people willing to share their knowledge with others, no matter how little or huge it is. Of course, you can talk to whoever you like and however you want to, it just doesn't help anyone (not even yourself) when you dismiss them as if they're nothing. If you can't help them, point them in the right direction. If you can, whether rudely or politely, offer your assistance. Shey you know google? That's exactly what it does... |
GoodBoi1:But bro, that's not the point. Of course, one time or the other, you'll still have to go out of your way to learn even deeper if you want to more that scratch the surface in computer science. But with those free computer courses, comes no certificate, which is required if you're going to get into any of those big companies like Microsoft, Apple and others. Or do you think they will want to take someone that graduated in the University with a Bachelors degree in Medicine or Agriculture or some other unrelated courses as a computer programmer or engineer in their company? The school is not just for the knowledge (although, that was the point of going to school, in the olden days), now it's essentially for the paperwork, cause that's a door opener. |
Yes, there is. Go to the developer.android.com and you'll find the offline components and instructions on how to set them up. There are two files you'll need to download. One is the gradle plugin nonsense or whatever, and the other one is the maven dependencies for extra android libraries. Everything sha should not be more than 3 Gigabytes (excluding Android Studio itself, as I'm assuming you already have that installed), so get that and you don't need an internet connection to use Android Studio again. |
swoopiness:Of course, we could do that. What are your suggestions? |
ABCthings:Of course not. Why would I want to attach malware inside my game? I only wanted people to test the game for me, to have some sort of user feedback and tell me what they think about the game. That's all. The game is 20.46 MB. |
A programming language, and a game development framework. |
superfrankie08:It's possible your WiFi's IP address has been blacklisted or blocked or something.. |
Oluwatobiloba99:Nope, it's not. I don't plan to upload monetize it in any way. I'm just making sure that C++ is good enough for all the games I'm going to be making for Android, hence why I want people to test the gameplay and give me feedback. The link to download the game is in the first post at the top. |
GeoAfrikana:You have a point bro, but do you know that there's a higher tendency for you to abandon that 13-hour video without finish watching it? It's just like this book I just downloaded on Reverse Engineering. This book is really great, but it's about 1000+ pages, and I'm like, "I want to finish reading this thing, so I can get on with my this reversing thing. But with these 1000+ pages in front of me, when will I finish so that I can start doing my stuff?" And to talk about needing crucial information, It's easy to find a video that talks about only the topics you really need at the moment than for you to start searching one monolithic video for a section where they covered stuff. As you said though, sometimes, it's really good for everything to be in one place, so it's one or the other. |
ilyasmuy:Anytime bro |
Okay. I only watched a few minutes of the videos, but I feel like that's enough for me to make a review. The videos are awesome, and I love the way you chose your words. They're pretty easy to understand, even for someone new to programming... I also like the step-by-step approach, as it helps people follow the tutorials and not get lost mid-way (I hope that was consistent throughout the video?). The only issue I have though, is how many people you'll expect to watch a three-hour video of computer programming tutorials. I know it's nice to cover all the concepts in one video, but the problem is that we humans can only strain our brain for so long before we start getting tired, and since it's not a movie, only few of us will be able to finish watching the entire video. My point is, I think it's better to split the video into parts so as not to overwhelm beginners. Nice work nevertheless. Keep up the good work (as Mavis Beacon says). |
I'm not all familiar with how things happen in the political world, but reading the news, I discovered that what caused all these 'Imminent World War 3' issues was that the US 'killed' Iran's military general. I'm sure they have their reasons, but what I'm not comfortable with is how it seems that the United States is given the license to kill anyone wherever and whenever they want. It doesn't matter that the person is a terrorist. For God's sake, it's still a human life. I read a little more about 'why' the United States would commit such an act, and I found that they found traces of an 'Imminent Threat' (link here) https://edition.cnn.com/2020/01/07/politics/qasem-soleimani-reasons-justifications/index.html My issue with this is: Can people be eliminated for crimes they've not yet committed? I mean, it might be true he's trying to bomb the US or something, but how does the US gun down a general of a country just because they 'suspect' he's about to commit a crime? Why didn't they just capture him or something? What I'm really pissed about though, is how most of we Nigerians (especially) are 'okay' with what is happening. All we want to see is war, and we don't care about what these people are doing. They can't just pick up a drone, and send it to kill someone without permission, can they? On top of that, killing someone without definitive proof is really, really crazy. Yet, we are all okay with it. So when Trump decides to use a drone to kill Buhari, we'll just have to 'live with it noni', right? The fact that the world is silent about this shows how unfair and bias we are to these so-called terrorists. I mean, it's totally crazy for them to shoot and assassinate people without reason, and when they do, we all go off on them about how much of humans they are. But when one of them is assassinated without reason, we just assume, "He must be bad, so serves him right". For me, justice isn't served in this case. So now the US is just going to do whatever they want without sanction. I'm not entirely concerned by this, unless Nigeria decides to be an enemy to the US (in which case I'm going to start seriously thinking about migrating to another country). Long story short, I don't think it's fair or right what US did to Iran and they should be sanctioned. Sefini! |
Okay, so I made a series of videos on starting out with game development using C++, and the Allegro 5 library. These videos are for beginners who are new to game development and don't know where or how to start. In these videos, I create a complete and basic shooter game, where the player shoots at enemies coming from the right edge of the screen, complete with sound effects, music, collision detection, and level spawning. You can check the playlist for these videos on the link below: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRMNjZSQLv5gaxaGCO0aMHZuLaufpv5ZH Check out the videos when you're free and tell me what you think. |
It's sad, as I couldn't find anyone to help me test my game here.. |
Okay, so I just finished creating a very simple game for Android, and I'd like people to test the app for me. The game is nothing too complicated (it took only just days to make), and the objective here is to test the use of Allegro 5 library on Android. I want to see if it works well on every device and also need suggestions on various things like gameplay, graphics, controls, and other things that can be improved in the game. Screenshots for the game is attached below. I'm not uploading the game to Play Store, because (1) that's not the objective, and (2) I don't even have a Google Developer account. The game is named Dodge! You can download the game here: http://www.kabtechworld.com/posts/Download-Dodge I'll be expecting your reviews and criticisms. Thanks.

Preditor:In-app purchases for Java phones. May God help you ooo, cause I have no idea if that's possible. |
Odward:Trust me bro, everyone's got mental issues they're dealing with one time or another. Often times, even when it's not going easy (especially when learning a certain programming language or concept is boring), you'll just have to "do it anyway". That's the mindset I always use when learning anything programming. Don't give yourself a choice cause when you do, your brain will always pick the easy one first. Just pick that book and read it. You don't understand? No problem. Read it again. Still don't understand? Run an infinite loop until that variable checks out.. ![]() |
