Interesting take, I'd research more on the points OP made although I feel prayer does work in the same way soliloquising does. talking to anyone including yourself can make you think more clearly. since prayer is basically talking to yourself and thinking some entity is listening and would favour you it can help psychologically by looking out for the signs of the help from that imaginary friend you'd position yourself for the help more and its possible to fill you with confidence which might be all that's needed. this can help you recognise opportunities better and succeed

Prayers & Meditation: Big Advantage Religious folks have over Atheists

First note that I am an Atheist. I totally dont believe in God, but i was once a christian and even a church leader for several years.

I have been an atheist now for about 6years and i believe i have enough experience to know what is lacking in both.

It may shock my Atheist colleagues if i tell them they are at disadvantage because they do not pray and meditate
Yes! You read that right! Christians and muslims most especially have a big advantage in life over most other people if they pray and meditate regularly.

Why?
1. Prayers Works! I have seen people get better because of prayers. When i was a christian, i saw many people recover faster through prayers. I saw depressed people pull through because of prayers. Even scientists have conducted researches to understand why prayers work for ill people. That is works does not mean god answers prayers, it works because these people have a belief. Belief helps put you in a mental state that deals with stress and releases the hormones needed for quick healing. There is a strong link between your mental state and your physiological being. Why do i say it has nothing to do with god? Because all prayers regardless of religion has the same effect. And alternatives to prayers to God work as well.

2. Prayers strengthen relationships " the family that prays together stays together". This statement is true. Those who pray together and for one another tend to maintain a strong bond. When you have people who constantly pray for you, you can be sure you mean a lot to them. Unfortunately this has also been used to exploit a lot of emotional people especially women. Have you ever wondered why women are victims to religion based scams especially in the church?

3. Improves your outlook praying every morning can make you more productive. I realize that when i prayed in the morning i always go out with lots of energy and enthusiasm. This is a good thing for those who pray and believe God to go through the day with them.

it helps cultivate a disciplined life when you pray with sincerity and regularly about habits that makes you unproductive, you are very likely to cut such habits off.

Note: this thread is not to convert anyone or endorse religion. I am only stating facts. I am an atheist and i dont pray. So what should an atheist do?

All atheist should learn to meditate. Make meditation an habit. Learn to stay quiet or should i say have your 'Quiet time' everyday both early in the morning and late at night when no one would disturb you.

Secondly, you should learn to speak positive things about yourself, business, family and all. Speak those things called positive confessions, if you believe them, it wld improve your mental state and that of those you speak them to. Tell your children positive things. Call them and tell them they would be great. Words make a lot of difference.

Note! Christians who spend their time praying against enemies and demons dont enjoy these benefits. Their lives are usually dark and pitiable, they are never victorious. Prayers i am talking about is the type you see churches like believers love world pray.

Also note that prayers without works is dead. Prayers itself dont work, they only help position your mind correctly. So it is wisdom when you know even the bible says prayers without works is dead.

I think most people here don't understand what addiction to gambling really means. I have been there and can tell you there is not one particular way to avoid it, all you have to do is pray and find something that preoccupies and take away your time. This thing most also be something you enjoy and gradually you will find a way out but it is a gradual process and try staying away from bet shops. Try mobile virtual it not as interesting as actual bet and you probably won't enjoy it.

dont mind the ignorant people. Imagine someone even saying his story is fake. Many are in prison today cos of gambling with company money, their boss's money etc. Best thing for addicts is to avoid keeping money. They shld see money like a curse. Get a trusted friend or family member especially a lady to handle all their money and payments. They shld only have little to take care of transportation. This is just the best thing

I was once in your shoes.It isn't that easy to stop virtual especially if addicted.The easiest way to stop it is whenever you have some money and your mind pushes you to play, make sure you only go with a little amount of money say 500,so that you can satisfy that urge,
N. b Dont go with much money, you will lose it all.
Gradually reduce the amount you take to the shop, I promise you if you try this for a month to two, the addiction will surely stop

Hardlife, you need to put up structures to save yourself. First never ever keep money by yourself again! I mean NEVER! Ladies are best for this task. Get a lady in your family to help you handle all payments. I mean NEVER EVER trust yourself to change. What wld save you is structure not prayers not even discipline. Create a structure today to keep money away from yourself. A word is enough for the wise. Truth is you cannot change. I know lots of guys like you, dont deceive yourself that you wld change

The best is to look for help from the right ones...work on your mental strength and find solace in something, ur friend or family, music, activities, mosque or church fate. Never isolate your self...that is the first damage depression does. Have it at the back of your mind that the worst has happened and you MUST conquer the worst because it is just a 'test' of who you are.

I have seen people suffered a quantum losses,damage and they pulled through to be a fighter.

Every phase of life is just like a story book, the ups and downs are what makes your story worth reading.

it is devastating for family and friends left behind, but dont call it cowardice. It takes a lot of guts to know you are about to die and still proceed. I don't get lonely, I am a social introvert meaning that I prefer keeping to myself but I still go out to socialize with friends.

Marriage doesn't appeal to me at all same as having kids, I prefer having dogs even now i have 2 of them and as soon as I get a job and make enough money I plan on getting 3 more making them 5 in number. I know most people, the first thing they want to do as soon as they get a job is to get married and have kids but not me, I'm also not interested in having a girlfriend, though I used to have one back then when I was in the university but we were forced to leave each other being that she had to go back to her country and I had to come back to Nigeria.
After that I got another girl here in Nigeria, but I had to leave her because she was too expensive and she was draining me financially. After that, I just lost interest in relationships and I decided to be single, I decided that even if I feel the need to lay with a woman I can just go to an ashawo hotel or get a steady woman who I can be calling any time I need company. I think this is the lifestyle that suits me especially in this harsh economy, its easier for me. If I get married and have kids imagine all the money I'm going to have to be spending, excess groceries, all kinds of bills, school fees and the list goes on.
At least having a steady woman to call like maybe once a week can't be as expensive as getting married and supporting a wife.
Also having dogs can't be as expensive as raising kids, with dogs all I need to do is to buy their feed, their grooming products and pay for their medical bills and probably training fees too but with kids and a wife imagine all the bills, the lists keep compiling and they never end.
What is your take on this? What do you think?

What I see is "Nigerian Child Summit Award" which is an award I've never heard of. I also see a rich kid that isn't really famous (anywhere at all) but somehow got to the Nairaland front page (sponsored post maybe?). The only award show I know that's held by Nickelodeon for kids is the "Kids Choice Awards" which Emmanuella narrowly lost in her category (and she's very famous).

The mod that pushed this to the fp should be banned for posting wrong information (Rule 8 ).

nairaland fools already swallowing the lies hook line and sinker. The guy is a nobody, his parent are using their money to package him. Even that award came with a price and has nothing to do with nickelodeon
