Well, if the sector is allowed to set its tarrifs, plus everyone pays...they would have enough money within 5 years to improve supply to existing customers.

The GSM sector was allowed to set its own prices, and today we have home internet, and can make international and national calls from most everywhere (am old enough to recall when most Nigerians had to go to a phone exchange to make calls, local and international, and a phone was a luxury)...because they could make enough of a profit to build all those antennae and lay all those cables across the country...ie build up infrastructure.

The power sector

1.Cannot set its prices.

2.Is forced by law to charge at a loss

3.A significant percentage of consumers don't pay.(even with meter...ye can bypass them. Meanwhile, you cannot use your phone without paying , and the era of cheats is over, and even if you use a cheat, you pay heavily in the future for it).

So expecting them to give 24/7 power is very impossicant...when they aren't even earning enough money to pay local taxes, among other things.

We have poor power supply because we paid for it. When we are ready to pay market price for power, like we do for GSM, and foodstuff in the market, we would get it steady.
as long as transmission is still controlled by the government, electricity will never be stable.

Yes, because when government rules force you to charge at a loss, not at a profit, plus 30-40% of your customers are not paying, including those who can pay ten times over....you won't make much of a profit to fix things up, take care of staff welfare, and have something left over .....

Charge at a loss, you get what you charge for.
I use a prepaid Meter, the charges have gone up. The people would care less about the price if they are given 24hrs power supply. But you and I know that if we pay Times ten of the current charges, we can never have steady electricity till 3046.

Politics › Re: We Haven’t Approved New Electricity Tariff – NERC by harmargedon: 8:00am On May 07, 2022

Well, they will have to.

1.Cost of business is rising due to the international rise in oil prices...which also affects gas.

2.Power companies are running at a loss, and even with government subsides (supposedly discontinued this year, but still around, IMHO), they still lose at least N1 trillion a year, because it is NERC, not the sector, that sets tarrifs.

3.The value of the naira is falling because we run an economy based just on the cost of crude oil...and right now , even with the rise in oil prices, we have to pay off debts, plus feed the subsidy monster...which means ....not enough forex to keep the value of the naira up.(We still have to save something too).

Ye cannot pay for power less than the cost it takes to produce power, and expect to have power 24/7. Ye have GSM because you pay for their service at the cost the GSM companies set.

Career › Re: Should I Accept The New Job Offer? by harmargedon: 3:29pm On May 06, 2022
SirDelight:
My current employer pays me N50k monthly with accommodation & transport benefits. Now, I have a new job offer of N80k salary with no accommodation. And the monthly estimation of transport fare for the new job would be N36k (from the N80k). But the only thing I am considering now is the new position I am offered, which would be of great value to my career pursuit. The new pay is nothing to write about, I am only considering the value the new position would add to my CV. Actually, our agreement during the interview was N80k for the three months' probationary period & there would be increment with satisfactory performance. The first offer letter they sent had N60k pay for the probation & N20k increment afterwards, which I rejected. The new offer letter has N80k pay with no increment after the probation. And, I would sign a year contract with them. I doubt surviving in Lagos with the salary. My current job is not in Lagos.

Kindly advise me on what to do. I have just 24hrs to accept or reject the offer.

It's a field engineering. I am currently a technician & now offered a field engineer's position (team lead).

Thanks in anticipation for your inputs.
you'll have ensure that they are ready to pay the 80k, and their pay is steady.

Family › Re: How Can One Find Genuine Spouse In This Era Of Ritual Killings, Organs Harvest? by harmargedon: 9:16am On May 06, 2022
pozehnani:
This calls for serious concern especially for the female folk as ladies are the ones at the receiving end of this whole cruelty and madness of ritualism that has become the order of the day in our already decaying society.

The rate at which female body parts are being ripped on a daily basis by their supposed boyfriends and lovers leaves me wondering if one can still have a genuine guy/relationship without having to watch your back that he's going rip your organs the next minute.

Right now, its very difficult to agree to date a guy without the fear or thoughts of being used for rituals because the heart of every Young guy/man has been seered with a hot iron and so hardened and desperate to make money at all cost that they wont think twice when presented with an opportunity to do money rituals.

These days if a guy approaches me, I walk as fast my legs can carry me and I'm most tempted to scream "ritualist!!!!
It is that bad.
A guy can not approach you and the next thing on your mind is rituals. Like seriously, its appalling.

Please, with this rising trend of killing and havesting female body parts, is it still advisable to accept guys/ mens advances talk more dating them?. And don't even begin to tell me to go to my religious circle because they are everywhere. Some are disguising as bro in the church. In fact 90% percent of men are desperate to get rich quick therefore can be easily influenced by this evil trend.

What should we single ladies do?
Avoid men totally?

I like my life abeg.

Sad.
.. I
your statistics is wrong nne, the ones that are desperate are the one who are not willing to get their hands dirty (that's a legit job) you would know the ones with the ritual mentality by asking them what they do for a living. 70% of men work hard to earn a living, it's the remaining 30% that wants to get rich quick mostly between the ages of 15-27.
So the next time a dude walks up to you, ask him what he does for a living, a guy who's hard working wouldn't see it as an option, a guy with a good job wouldn't either. Women are attracted to the easy life, that's how they get them. Flashy things, cool cash, sweet ride etc.
