Politics / Re: Labour Calls Off Strike! by harmeenut: 5:11pm On Jan 16, 2012 |
This is pathetic to say the least. With this, the government had won completely because it is a strategy all from the beginning. Jonathan and his cohorts knew that Nigeria will resist the subsidy removal/fuel price hike. So they increased the price to 141 and after protest and agitations reduced it to N97. At N97, the subsidy (if it truly exist) had been completely removed. (Lets beginning another verification if the oil cabal are still getting any subsidy); but the FG will say they have removed 50% of subsidy hoping to remove the rest when Nigerian begins to see the results of the 50% withdrawal. The government have one advantage which is NIGERIANS CANNOT hold for long when it comes to protest and strike. No mater how we try, we don't have the same gut like the Arabs who can stay on street for more than a month. So the plan was that when the govt eventually "reduce" typical Nigerian go say "at least they have tried" and conclude that we should move on. As per NLC/TUC, I have problem with the way they handle the latter part of the protest especially after meeting with govt but since they have achieved a reduction, they have tried their best. You can't rule out threats to their lives and their family members. I'm sure the same masses will turn their backs on them if they still insists on N65 because they are already getting tired. At least we cant compare buying at N141 and buying at N97. The only problem here is that the prices of everything that had gone up will NEVER come down. This is where the masses lose out We need to know one thing - with the new price, is the subsidy still completely removed or 50% removed. It may be that it is completely removed but the govt will claim it is partially removed to pave way for further looting on a future claim of total removal. So we must monitor if the oil cabal are still getting any subsidy from now on. Forget about all those palliatives, Audit, EFCC, transparency and so on, it is back to business as usual fr the government. They have gotten their wish at least by 90%. May GOD help us in this country |

Quote from: pof600 on Today at 02:32:36 PM You know one thing with internet is that you can even stay in a remotest village in the world and claim to be in Hawaii just to make a point. I would like you to define the sentence "government taking care of me" As far as I'm concerned, when I produce my own drinking water, take care of electricity supply for my house and business, provide and rely on personal security, to mention but a few, wetin my government come dey do to claim he's taking care of me. and govt is not meant for taking care of the citizens, then tell me what he's meant to do? Ghana only recently discovered oil but not in commercial quantity like Nigeria for more than 50 years and had provided some of the above-mentioned for majority of Ghanians, let Naija govt do at least stable electricity before talking of deregulation |

I dont believe this struggle is about subsidy, it's actually about wastage, corruption and the lack of gut to fight corruption. According to David Tam-West, subsidy itself doesn't exist and if it does, government clearly know those cabals that are getting it. The problem here i that FG lacks the gut to prosecute these cabals because they are the same people that donate billions to their campaign during election. Additionally, I'm aware the 2011 budget life had been extended till March 31, 2012 meaning subsidy provision for 2011 was meant to take care of subsidy till March, Why removing it when you still have about 3 months left of the current budget? Nigerians are even ready to accept subsidy removal if at all it exists but the problem is how are we 100% sure the revenue accrued from same will be used for what they promised to used it for. We have not seen benefits of the past deregulations and yet you want me to accept new one. You want me to tighten my belt yet you are not ready to lead by example with N1.54milliom naira daily budget for feeding & refreshment at Aso Rock (Haba Jesus & Mohammed dey come to dinner). N45,000 daily on news paper? Hahahaha So the stance is not just on subsidy removal but to fight corruption. Fight corruption and every other things will fall in place but Jonathan can't fight corruption because his hands are covered in blood wit dubious characters he appointed into his cabinet some of whom has oil blocs and shares/interest in oil & gas biz |

Ok guys, It is a known fact Man U was in the simplest of all group but football can be cruel sometimes. It's a bad day for English football. We may well rejoice over their misfortunes it only shows that nothing in this life is permanent. Even as an Arsenal fan, I'm happy we came unscathed despite the crises from the beginning of the season but going into the round of 16 is definitely is another different ball entirely. The Man U fan should take all these jibe with magnanimity after all all na game and the Chelsea/Arsenal should wait for the days it will be the turn of the Manchester duo to make mockery of their exits. afrokarma: Reference:. They can only meet in the round of 16 and not 32 |

Sports / West Bromwich Coach Roy Hodgson Blasts Odemwingie by harmeenut: 1:23pm On Nov 24, 2011 |
Dis na hard times for Osaze Roy Hodgson has revealed his annoyance at Peter Odemwingie, saying West Brom have "got nothing out of him" since the striker signed a new deal. The Nigerian striker joined the Baggies in the summer of 2010 and enjoyed a prolific first season with the club, scoring 15 Premier League goals. The 30-year-old was rewarded with a big-money deal in August to ward off reported interest from elsewhere, but he has not been able to replicate last term's form during the early part of the 2011/12 campaign. He has been dogged by fitness problems and is doubtful for Saturday's game against Tottenham due to a knee injury, leaving Hodgson wondering when he will finally flourish. "I'm frustrated because we've got nothing out of him this year," said Hodgson. "He didn't take part in many of the pre-season matches and he hasn't taken part in many of the matches since then. "It's been one problem after another." Odemwingie's latest injury has proved particularly frustrating for Hodgson, who can no longer be sure about the severity of the problem and has questioned his forward's commitment. Hodgson added: "Peter is difficult to work out - you would have to speak to the doctor about him. "This is still the same problem he's had for a month. He was supposed to be fit for the Arsenal game but wasn't. "Then he was definitely going to be fit for the Bolton game but wasn't. "And he is supposed to be fit for the Tottenham game and now there's a doubt about that too. "So I take any optimism with a pinch of salt." The Baggies boss continued: "For a player who we really put so much into in the hope that he would be a major force for staying in the Premier League we have not had much of a return. "What makes it even harder is when you get a player who is frustrated or is frustrating it gets highlighted more when you have players like the Geras, Longs, Reids and the Thomases who play through pain every week." While Shane Long arrived over the summer to increase West Brom's attacking options, Hodgson still believes Odemwingie should be contributing more after accepting such a good contract offer. He added: "When you sign that contract and accept a lot more money following a good season, then you automatically accept that the club thinks you're the man and that can put pressure on you. "Your star players need to be available for selection - the fact someone else might have come in and done well is irrelevant. "There is a hierarchy at every football club." http://football365.com/news/21554/7330346/Hodgson-Has-A-Massive-Pop-At-Odemwingie |

He's only bidding his time so as not to get into the consciousness of Nigerians so quickly on the same issue people are blaming Siasia for now. If I remember very well, he had the same issue of indiscipline with Adebayor at Togo and he didn't tolerate it. So I don't think he will do the opposite in Nigeria. Sports / Mikel Disappointed Me But I Wont Punish Him - Keshi by harmeenut: 7:11pm On Nov 21, 2011 |
Mikel Disappointed Me —Keshi Stephen Keshi Chief Coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi, has said that he was so sad with John Mikel Obi for failing to play for Nigeria in the recent international friendly matches against Botswana and Zambia but could feature for Chelsea less than a week in their Premier League game yesterday. Mikel was left out of the two friendly ties after he complained of injury. The coach warned he would see whether Mikel would play against Liverpool in the Premier League yesterday and Mikel, with no sign of injury, featured in the tie in which Chelsea lost 1-2 at Stamford Bridge. Speaking early today, Keshi said he was shocked to see Mikel play for Chelsea. He said though he won’t sanction the player from the senior national team, he would note his disloyalty to him. “To be honest, I was disappointed that Mikel could play for his club against Liverpool, but I am not going to sanction him from Eagles. We don’t need to blow the issue of Mikel out of proportion. A lot of Nigerians want me to discipline him, instead of that, I will give him more chance to play for Eagles and an opportunity to correct himself,” he said. The Eagles’ handler said he will not allow Mikel’s issue to distract him from the task ahead, adding that his immediate plan now is to bring Nigerian football back on track after the Eagles failed to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations. Meanwhile, Keshi, has expressed readiness to recall Blackburn Rovers’ player, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and FC Montpellier’s striker, John Utaka, to the Eagles, saying the team would need their experience. Keshi said he was not surprised at the players’ recent form as they have the quality to play for any team in the world. Keshi said their recall back to the Eagles should be a challenge for them and an opportunity to let the younger players learn from them “Utaka and Aiyegbeni are good, outstanding and experienced players that the Eagles need now in our bid to get the team back to the winning way. We need to balance this team by playing experienced players with the young ones. And I’m sure that their return to the Eagles would be a challenge to them to prove their worth again,” he said culled from: http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2011/11/21/mikel-disappointed-me-%e2%80%94keshi/ |
