The projects methodology is framed structure constructure and commenced from the dpc stage with placement of kickers of 75mm in height.

Placement of first floor colunm and lintel formwork

During the excavation process, some of the excavated pits got flooded by underground water.
This prompted the request for a change request to enable us employ Reinforced concrete Grade beams to link the affected pad bases.
After the approval of our change request. Excavation for the RC Grade beam with dimensions of 300mm x 450mm commenced

Continuation of excavation works.

Start of Reinforcement works
The pad base varried from 3m x 3m to 1.5m x 1.5m.
The reinforcement works for the colunm starter bars was also done.

The Excavation of the foundation commenced after the setting out operation.
The foundation type employed for this project was isolated Pad and Strip foundation.
Excavation of the isolated pad began buy excavating the individual pad bases down to a depth of 1.6m.

The project commensed with the setting out of the foundation by the project surveyor using surveying instruments and the working drawings.
The project methodology is the constuction of a framed structure.

Are there circumstances where 12mm can be used for both the bases and the columns?

The reinforcement to be used is dictated by the structural design done by a structural engineer.
Its might be possible to have 12mm rods in your ground floor columns for structures with little load specifications.
But I do not trust the yield strength of Reinforcement sold in the Nigerian market, so i wont recommend having 12mm rods in colunms for building greater than 1 floor. The BS code specifies a strength of 460N/mm2 but Nigerian reinforcement have been found to have less than 390N/mm2.

Concrete Curing activities

First floor slab and beam concreting
The concrete was mixed in ratio 1:1:1:4
1 bag of cement, 2 head pan of sharp sand, 2 head pan of stone dust and 8 head pan of gravel.

All structural first floor beams have a depth of 450mm.
The structural reinforcement specifications is 3Y16 top, 3Y16 bottom with shear reinforcement spaced at 200mm C/C

After completion, we proceed to First floor slab/Beam construction commonly called "decking"
