All the Building approval agencies in Nigeria need to be crammed, they are concerned about collecting bribes and have left out the part of their jobs that involves making sure the buildings being approved are fit for construction.
They also fail to follow up during the construction process and action contractors who have contravened. There are cases where not a single Registered engineer is on-site to supervise the structural works which would later result in building collapses.
There have been 150 building collapses in Lagos state alone since 2005 with resulting loss of lives and injuries.
As a construction company we have first hand experience as to the uselessness of this agencies.

This is getting out of hand,
We used to drive to Orlu to withdraw money while building a strcuture for a client in Isieke.

Atleast 10 killed and many injured after a church collapsed in Asaba, Nigeria

The building collapsed while evening service was going on resulting in death and injuries.

The injured have been rushed to hospital and are receiving treatment.

This collapse is coming after the building collapse in Lagos resulting in the death of many.

Although cases of building collapse are not rapant in Asaba, building collapse in Lagos is endemic with reports of Atleast 150 collapses since 2005 resulting in deaths of hundreds of people.

Use of substanded building materials and poor building construction practices can be blamed for this incidents ravaging the whole country.

Something urgent as to be done by the government to save Nigerians from Dealth and injuries from Building collapse.

Things are getting out of hand.

The breakdown of the moral Fibre of our society is ridicolous.
I have constructed several buildings in Imo state and can clearly remember the neighborly love I felt there.
We need to find our way back
