promiseolaoye:It's very simple. Jihad doesn't mean "holy war", how can a war even be holy? Jihad ordinarily means to strive, struggle or persevere. Therefore, any action that involves striving to please your Creator is jihad. In fact, Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that the some of the greatest forms of jihad are; i. Being good/kind and obedient to your parents ii. Speaking a just statement to a tyrannical ruler. iii. Fighting to defend the rights of the poor, weak and oppressed, among men and women, etc. This is the true meaning of jihad. #ISLAMISPEACE Salaam. |

truthmans2012:I do not want any unnecessary arguments, or unnecessary prolongation of discussions, so, let's leave it at that. But here is my point, if the method of reasoning of the OP is used, it shows that Yahweh failed in his promise, because there was definitely a promise there, except that it was not fulfilled. Coming to the verse of the Qur'an quoted by the OP, any intellectual person would see that there is no promise there. Salaam. |
plappville:Ordinarily, I would ignore this, but for the sake of those who seek truth, I'll answer you. First, I want to ask you, "do you know what a promise is?" maybe not, because from what you quoted, I don't see any promise of anything. Why then history shows that many Muslims do not return home after pilgrimage as they die of stampede? Isn't the Stamped contradictory to Allah's promised for Muslims pilgrims who went for hajj and die there?Let's assume you are right. So, let's apply your method of reasoning. Jesus (peace be upon him) prayed to be saved from crucifixion. Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. (John 26: 36) And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me. (John 26: 39) …. He went away again, and prayed the second time and prayed, saying ……and prayed the third time, saying the same words. (John 26:42-44) God answered his prayers And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I think thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always. (John 11:41-42) God even sent an Angel to strengthen him And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. (Luke 22: 43-44) But after all these, what was the result? According to you, he died a shameful death, he died a cursed man. Here goes; Isn't the death of Jesus (peace be upon him) contradictory to Yahweh's promise to Jesus (peace be upon him) who prayed fervently to be saved from crucifixion, yet, died of crucifixion??Can someone help a brother to explain this please. Thank you in advance. Wow! Your method of reasoning is really astonishing! Salaam. |
plappville:Seems like you are someone that likes violence, from most of your posts. Anyways, if you read my above post (the one before this), you'll get the meaning of jihad, and subsequently, a "jihadist". So, if you are talking about jihad in the light of my above post, then, truly, they are the best of Muslims. But if you are speaking in the light of radical suicide squads, that is completely against Islam. |
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. GrizzlyBear:Depends on the "actions" you are talking about, because in the real sense, jihad means to struggle, strive or persevere. So, it can be in the form of a personal struggle, helping one's parents (this is one of the best), speaking a just statement to a tyrannical ruler, standing up for/defending the poor, weak and oppressed. Jihad doesn't mean going on a killing spree on people who do not agree with your belief, because the Quran already commands Muslims to argue (religious discussions) with unbelievers in ways that are best, and using the best of manners. If I kill you, have I even giving you a chance to accept Islam?, NO. So, it is a grave sin to kill anyone unjustly. If it is, then why does anyone read and tailor their lives around a book that motivates and inspires people to kill and harm their fellow humans? It's obviously not. If you open your mind, you'll see that. Also, how could this book have been divinely inspired by the creator of the universe if it admonishes it's adherents to kill and perpetuate violence? The Qur'an is divine. For the latter part, READ ABOVE. Salaam. |
DoctorAlien:I happen to agree with the statement that Muslims, Christians, and any other religion which worship a divine being, the creator, all worship the same God, irrespective of what He is called. If you don't agree with this, I have no problem with you, but you'll have to answer my question. My question is; "I worship my Creator, and my Creator created you. If you don't worship Him, who do you worship"? The catholic church is working hard(and achieving success) at uniting all the religions of the world into one. It's no longer news that the pope says that muslims serve the one true GOD with Christians. One day, Roman Catholicism, Islam, Hinduism, name them, will all unite into a single religion which professes to worship GOD. On the other side will be GOD's true people, who abide by the Bible.OK. It's also not hard to see why the catholic church continues to demote Jesus from His GOD-status daily, and exalt Mary higher to even a position of Mediator between GOD and man.OK. Yes, you guessed right: muslims demote Jesus and revere Mary too. Please show me where Jesus (peace be upon him) said (in your bible) that he is God, or he should be worshipped. Depends on what you mean by "revere Mary". She was a righteous woman, who kept her chastity, and preserved her modesty. She is also the mother of a Messenger of God. Actually, the Roman Catholic church formed Islam. Google is there for anyone who wishes to know more.OK. Salaam. |
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Originakalokalo:So, what of before Jesus (peace be upon him). Because I'm sure that before Jesus (peace be upon him), there was Moses, David, and all other messengers (peace be upon them all), and no one went to God, except through them. You're gonna have to tell me that I'm wrong. I will also advise the Christians to read the Bible very well and avoid meaningless arguments.Salaam |

In shaa Allah, everything I'll be telling you is the truth. It's up to you to be open minded to accept it. purple3091:May Allah make it easy for you both. regardless here is some of the proof,i shall repost in a few days the original(which are my notes with references to verses & hadith) i had in mind.In shaa Allah For now here: *proof of pedophilia:the marriage to aisha,as well as comsummation and thighing of aisha by muhammed *proof of rape, murder and thievert: quran 4:24 talks about how Muslim men(whether married/single) are allowed to have sex with even married captives, captured in war,You are speaking about female slaves in Islam. Slavery has been there before Muhammad. Other religions have no problem with slavery. The bible even allows it to the extent that a man can sell his daughter, in slavery. Now here’s a good to ask ourselves, Why does the Quran Allow Slavery? Here is the answer: In Islam if a master has sex with his slave, then when the slave girl is pregnant, she and her child is automatically freed after the masters death. But that’s not the only way a slave can get freedom, in fact, if a slave request his/her freedom, she or he can get it! Noble Verse 24:33 "Let those who find not the wherewithal for marriage keep themselves chaste, until God gives them means out of His grace. And if any of your slaves ask for a deed in writing (to enable them to earn their freedom for a certain sum), give them such a deed if ye know any good in them: and give them something yourselves out of the means which God has given to you. But force not your maids to prostitution when they desire chastity, in order that ye may make a gain in the goods of this life. But if anyone compels them, yet, after such compulsion, is God, Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (to them)," As we can clearly see, Islam says that if a slave request freedom, he/she can get it, including some money, in order for the slave to get a good jump start in life. So, let me ask you a question if you are truthful; does Islam degrade slaves, with all the above viewed evidences? Your answer will be "no", if you are truthful, except you have decided to close your mind and eyes to the truth. Beside this, the Prophet (S) also ordered for slaves to not be forced into having sexual intercourse: "Musaykah, a slave-girl of some Ansari, came and said: My master forces me to commit fornication. Thereupon the following verse was revealed: "But force not your maids to prostitution (when they desire chastity). (24:33)" (Translation of Sunan Abu Dawud, Divorce (Kitab Al-Talaq), Book 12, Number 2304) " The Qur’an teaches that freeing the salves is a great virtue (See Surah 90:13). One of the expenditures of zakah (obligatory charity) is to spend the money for the freedom of the slaves (surah 9:60). It is forbidden in Islam to enslave a free person. If Muslims had consistently followed the Islamic teachings in this regard, slavery would have become extinct a long time ago. It is unfortunate that some Muslims did not follow these teachings of Islam and slavery continued in Muslim lands for centuries. We are ashamed that some Muslims practiced slavery against the teachings of Islam. However, it is also a historical fact that for centuries the worst type of slavery in its most extensive and horrible form was practiced by those who claimed themselves to be the followers of Christ. They enslaved millions of free men, women, and children and shipped them like animals from one continent to another. They made millions in profit by this most shameful trade of human beings. So let’s see the points made: 1) Slaves can NOT be forced into having sexual intercourse with 2) Slaves ARE automatically free after the masters death if they bare a child from the master 3) Slaves CAN ask to be freed, and become free , including they will get an amount of money to jump start in life. So Islam destroyed the social illness called slavery, if you look at the proof open-mindedly. Take a look at this fatwa. Title of Fatwa: Status of Slave Women in Islam Date of Reply: 21/Aug/2003 Topic Of Fatwa: Misconceptions Country Applied: United Kingdom Question of Fatwa: Is it true that Islam permits Muslim men to own slave women, and permits them to have sex with them without marrying them? And that this was carried out by the Prophet’s Companions with his approval? Surely, this is in contradiction of the Qur’an's condemnation of zina . Could you please clarify this issue? Name of Mufti: A Group of Islamic Researchers Content of Reply In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. Dear questioner, thank you very much for having confidence in us and we hope our efforts, which are purely for Allah’s Sake, meet your expectations. When Islam was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), slavery was a worldwide common social phenomenon; it was much older than Islam. Slavery was deeply rooted in every society to the extent that it was impossible to imagine a civilized society without slaves. In spite of this social fact, Islam was the first religion to recognize slavery as a social illness that needed to be addressed. Since slavery was deeply rooted in the society, Islam did not abolish it at once. Rather, Islam treated slavery in the same manner it treated other social illnesses. Islam followed the same methodology of gradual elimination in dealing with this social disease as it did with other social illnesses, for example: the prohibition of alcohol in three steps. Concerning having slave women, we would like to let you know that it happens to be a practice necessitated by the condition in which early Muslims found themselves vis-à-vis non-Muslims, as both parties engaged in wars. Slave women or milk al-yameen are referred to in the Qur'an as “Those whom your right hand possess” or “ma malakat aymanukum” ; they are those taken as captives during conquests and subsequently became slaves, or those who were descendants of slaves. Thus, it was a war custom in the past to take men and women as captives and then turn them into slaves. Islam did not initiate it, rather, it was something in practice long ago before the advent of Islam. And when Islam came, it tried to eradicate this practice, bit by bit. So it first restricted it to the reciprocal practice of war, in the sense that Muslims took war captives just as the enemies did with Muslims. But as it aimed at putting an end to such issue, Islam laid down rules which would eventually lead to eradicating the practice. So it allowed Muslims to have intercourse with slave women taken as captives of just and legitimate wars. In so doing, the woman would automatically become free if she got pregnant. What's more, her child would also become free. Not only that, Islam also ordered a Muslim to treat the slave woman in every respect as if she were his wife. She should be well fed, clothed and given due protection. In the family environment, she had the opportunity to learn about Islam and was free to accept it or reject it. She also had the opportunity to earn her freedom for she could be ransomed. In the light of the above-mentioned facts, and the nature of the question posed by people, it's clear that some people misunderstand the wisdom behind the permissibility of having female slaves and think that it is meant to unleash men’s desires and give them more enjoyment. Never! That is not the point! It is, rather, means of freeing slaves; and this is clarified above in the fact that if a master got a female slave pregnant, then he could neither sell her nor give her away as a present. And if he died, she would not be considered part of his property. She'd receive her freedom and her baby would also be free. But, we have to stress that this case should not be confused with that of female servants or maids, for they are free and not slaves. Therefore, it is forbidden to engage in sexual relations with them except through an Islamic marriage. Slavery has been abolished by international conventions, and goes in line with aims and objectives of Islam, as it has called for centuries ago. As for marrying slaves, it is something permissible under two conditions: first, if one is unable to pay the dowry of a free woman. Second, if there is fear of committing adultery if one doesn’t get married. This is clarified by the following verse: “And whose is not able to afford to marry free, believing women, let them marry from the believing maids whom your right hands possess. This is for him among you who feareth to commit sin. But to have patience would be better for you.” (An-Nisaa’: 25) This verse shows that Muslim men should abstain from illicit relations and seek enjoyment through marriage to free women or through their female slaves. In conclusion, Allah has forbidden certain types of behavior and permitted other kinds of behavior as a safeguard to the individual and to the society. Allah has forbidden fornication and adultery. However, in the case of captives whom your right hands posses, it's something necessitated by the special circumstances which were created when the Muslims were at war.” some wars that are in the quran are not of self defence as many muslim claims, but waged by the muslims themselves like the attack of the bani mustaliq without warning, were the men(males above 12) were killed and women +children taken as captives, this is clearly immoral.Evidence? also thievery would occur when they would wage wars then seize properties of those peolpleDo you know the meaning of "spoils of war"?. That's not "theivery". ....i wll post a more sufficient reply from my notes, with references when i canPlease do. |
Arabic Word ‘Jihad’ And Its Meaning ﺑِﺴۡﻢِ ﭐﻟﻠﻪِ ﭐﻟﺮَّﺣۡﻤَـٰﻦِ ﭐﻟﺮَّﺣِﻴﻢِ The word ‘Jihad’ has commonly been mistranslated as ‘war against unbelievers’ or equated to ‘terrorism’. The Arabic word ‘Jihad’ literally means ‘struggle’ or ‘strive to’ – that is, to exert oneself one way or another. It also pertains to doing good, and to fight evil, physically and mentally. Jihad can also apply when speaking a good word, or removing an obstacle on the road so that people do not get hurt. These are various meanings to the word ‘Jihad’. Let’s turn to the Quran and see what it says on the word, “So do not obey the disbelievers, and strive against them with the Qur’an a great striving.” – Quran 25:52 The act of preaching and Islamic propagation using the Quran is Jihad . In another verse, people who strive to come close to God are doing the act of Jihad, “And those who strive (Jahid) for Us – We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.” – Quran 29:69 To fight oppression physically is a form of Jihad, “Fight in the way of God those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. God does not like transgressors.” – Quran 2:191 Although the word itself is not in the verse, it does have that meaning. Let us now look and see what Prophet Muhammed (p) said on Jihad. In Sahih Bukhari, it is reported that helping your parents out and being good to them by respecting and obeying them is ‘Jihad’. ﻗَﺎﻝَ ﻧَﻌَﻢْ . ﻗَﺎﻝَ ” ﻓَﻔِﻴﻬِﻤَﺎ ﻓَﺠَﺎﻫِﺪْ .” Translation: “…the Prophet, “Shall I participate in Jihad?” The Prophet said, “Are your parents living?” The man said, “Yes.” the Prophet said, “Do Jihad for their benefit.” In other instances, Prophet Muhammed (p) said, speaking a ‘just statement’ against a tyrannical ruler is one of the ‘greatest types of Jihad’, ﺇِﻥَّ ﻣِﻦْ ﺃَﻋْﻈَﻢِ ﺍﻟْﺠِﻬَﺎﺩِ ﻛَﻠِﻤَﺔَ ﻋَﺪْﻝٍ ﻋِﻨْﺪَ ﺳُﻠْﻄَﺎﻥٍ ﺟَﺎﺋِﺮٍ ” Translation: “Indeed, among the greatest types of Jihad is a just statement before a tyrannical ruler.” Reading the above evidences show that the Arabic word ‘Jihad’ has various meanings. Turning to academics, Professor A. Rashid, author of writes, “The Qur’anic term most often conflated with that of violence is Jihad. The Arabic verb "Jahada" from which the verbal noun Jihad is derived literally means ‘to strive hard, to exert strenuous effort and to struggle.’ As a multivalent Islamic concept, it denotes any effort in pursuit of a commendable aim. Jihad is a comprehensive concept embracing peaceful persuasion (16:125) and passive resistance (13:22; 23:96; 41:34), as well as armed struggle against oppression and injustice (2:193; 4:75; 8:39). The Islamic concept of Jihad should not be confused with the medieval concept of Holy war since the actual word al-harb al-muqtaddasa is never used in the Qur’an. In Islam, a war is never holy; it is either justified or not. Moreover, is not directed at other faiths. In a statement in which the Arabic is extremely emphatic, the Qur’an insists, ‘there must be no coercion in matters of faith!’ (2:256). More than this, the protection of freedom of belief and worship for followers of other religions has been made a sacred duty of Muslims. This duty was fixed at the same time when the permission for armed struggle (Jihad al-qital) was ordained (22:39-40).” Professor Devin R. Springer Jihad: means ‘to strive’ or ‘to struggle’ in Arabic; the term has a religious connotation, involving an outwardly directed struggle against oppression and tyranny, as well as an inwardly directed personal struggle for holiness. The spiritual Jihad in quest of holiness, or Jihad bil-nafs, is seen by most Muslims as the ‘greater Jihad.’ The concept of Jihad bil-sayf, literally ‘Jihad by the sword,’ or violent Jihad, traditionally is viewed as the ‘lesser Jihad'. We see that the Arabic word ‘Jihad’ has many shades of meanings, such as bringing people to Islam with the Quran. Speaking a ‘just statement’ against a tyrannical ruler is one of the greatest jihads, as well as being good and respectful to your parents. Finally, physically fighting oppression, in order to be liberated from persecution is Jihad as well. lexiconkabir:Thank you my brother for this correction. You are indeed correct, as the spirit and deeper meaning is lost in translation, or should I say, explanation of the meaning, since a word for word translation is as good as impossible. |
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Why pray in Arabic? The question some times is asked as to why should a Muslim pray only in Arabic language and not his mother tongue. It may first seem logical that every Muslim should pray through his own mother language, so that he may understand what he says; but a little more thinking and study, we shall find that there are strong arguments in favor of only one common language and that is Arabic. Arabic: A deep and vast Language It is a fact recognized by the linguists that the Arabic language has the best ability to express wide and deep thoughts and to explain important subjects in short and precise words. Moreover, it has been proved that no language, except Arabic, is capable of presenting such deep spiritual, moral and ethical expressions in such an eloquent manner. Therefore the choice of Arabic for Islamic prayers is not to be wondered upon. Veccia Vaglieri, an Italian orientalist in the University of Naples, writes in her book on Advancement of Islam, that in no literary work of the world can there be found such deep-meaning sentences with such beautiful words except in the Qur'an; and that depth of meaning is crowned with such eloquent language. The late George Bernard Shaw, in the course of his discussion on Islam at Mombasa during 1943 said: “I also very much admire the forcible and striking diction of the Qur'an. What grace and beauty characterizes that passage which depicts the dreadful scene of the dooms-day field, and dealing with infanticide, dramatically leaves off at the question, 'For what crime wert thou slain?' to the innocent child that was buried alive or put to death. In my opinion it is the most effective way of creating an abiding impression on the minds of people.” Professor Arbury, the well known orientalist scholar (University of Cambridge), says that no language has and shall have the ability to put in a short sentence, the word ﻣﻦ (Min) (which is repeated five times in an ayat of the Qur'an) without disturbing the eloquence and conveyance of its meaning, except the language (Arabic) which is chosen for the Qur'an to convey the message of Islam. A Common Language for the Islamic Prayer All Muslims perform their religious rites and worship of God, including the daily five time prayers, in Arabic. In the course of these prayers, some verses of the Qur'an and other sentences, are uttered so as to express the Greatness and Glory of Allah, the Creator, and the humbleness and insignificance of the human beings, the creatures. This is done in the same wordings by all Muslims, Arabs and non-Arabs alike, even by those who do not understand Arabic. This system of prayers in one common language was in practice during the life time of the Prophet of Islam and has continued after him for more than 1400 years. In every country, Muslims have been praying in Arabic language. Cementing the Islamic Brotherhood Prayer in Arabic cements the Islamic brotherhood and emphasizes the universal character of Islam. Islam has come for the entire Human race. It is a fact that the Muslim Communities of the world, like all other communities, speak numerous languages and dialects. At the same time it should be appreciated that our life today is rapidly assuming international character. Distance between any two points of the world has shrinked fantastically. In every place you will find Muslims speaking different languages. Imagine a Muslim who is an Englishman going to China and passing through a street. Suddenly he hears the voice of, say 'ching-chang-chung' which, let us suppose mean 'Allahu Akbar' - God is Great. No doubt the stranger would not understand that it is a call for Muslim prayer and would miss the opportunity of praying in congregation with the people of that locality. Incidentally, the mosques in China do not resemble in appearance to those in Europe or other Eastern countries and are without minarets. Conversely, if a Chinese travels abroad where people pray in their local language, he would not be able to understand it and participate in it. Sayyid Sa'eed Akhtar Rizvi, Chief Missionary of Bilal Muslim Mision, writes: “Prayers in Arabic are an important factor cementing the solidity and unity of Muslims all over the world. Nowadays if a Muslim from Czechoslovakia enters a mosque in the interior of Congo, he finds himself at home and participates in the prayer without any hint of bewilderness. What will happen if every man is told to pray in his own language? Can this feeling of Unity and Oneness survive?” Thus, Islam, the universal religion, has paved the way of common approach to God, has united its followers and instilled in them a feeling of everlasting Brotherhood. One cannot ignore the racial, colour, or national prejudices which are rife these days almost in every country, Islam has not only condemned all sorts of discrimination but has shown the practical way of fostering fraternity and brotherhood. A common language for religious services plays a great part in bringing people close to one another and create a feeling of equality in the eyes of God. Qur’an, Work of Allah Arabic in which the Holy Qur'an and traditions of the Prophet have been revealed has a special status and honour. This high status of Arabic is not due to its being the language of the Arabs; rather it is because of its being language of Qur'an chosen by Almighty God for conveying His last message and revelation. Muslims believe that the Holy Qur'an is the Word of God. As such, it is only befitting that the recitation of the word of God is done in the same form and language in which it was originally pronounced. Spiritually, a faithful Muslim finds himself ascending higher and higher with the support of the words of God as expressed in the original language which is Arabic. Translation almost Impossible Any translation of the original will not be the word of God but the work of human beings. Keep in view the imperfect human knowledge, and remember that Arabic is the widest and richest of all languages. Then you will have to admit that no translation of the Qur'an would be perfect enough to carry the true meanings and to fulfill the spiritual purposes. Sayyid Sa'eed Akhtar Rizvi writes on this subject: “Praying in English: First of all, translation of any work of literature from any language into another is considered by all men of literature as almost impossible. Of course, you will find thousands of translations of literary works, but they represent only the body of the original; the spirit is always lost. Secondly, Arabic language, in particular, is so comprehensive that, for example, it is just impossible to convey the complete idea of a word (let alone a 'sentence') into English. Take for example, the most common phrase ﺍﻟﺤﻤﺪ ﻟﻠﻪ which is generally translated as “All praise be to God.” Now ﺍ ﻝ conveys in Arabic the following shades of meaning: 1. Each and every individual of the thing mentioned, taken separately; 2. All the individuals of the thing mentioned taken jointly; 3. The species of the thing mentioned taken as an abstract idea etc. Now if you want to translate ﺍﻝ in such a way as to convey all the meanings mentioned above you will have to say 'Each and every, all and the.' Then comes ﺣﻤﺪ . There is not a single word in English to convey its idea. 'Praise' is translation of ﻣﺪﺡ not ﺣﻤﺪ ; Thanks' is translation of ﺷﻜﺮ not ﺣﻤﺪ . “Hamd” means “to praise and thank someone because he deserves to be praised whether he has done you any favour or not provided that his qualities are not given to him by someone else.” How can anybody convey this idea in translations? Now comes (L) of ﺍﻟﻠﻪ It conveys the idea of 'For', 'Of, 'Belonging to' etc. No single English preposition can cover the whole range of its meanings. ﺍﻟﻠﻪ is generally rendered as 'God'. But, first of all 'god” is not translation of ﺍﻟﻠﻪ because ﺍﻟﻠﻪ means 'One who deserves to be loved' and 'Unto whom every one seeks refuge.' Secondly ﺍﻟﻠﻪ has no plural and no feminine. So this name itself reflects light upon the fact that He is one and only “one and that He has no partner nor any equal. But “god” has plural (gods) and feminine (goddess). This short explanation should be sufficient to show that it is impossible to translate the Qur'an in such a way that the translation conveys all the shades of meanings of the original”. In the words of A. J. Arbury, the Qur'an is “a foreign idiom, for the Qur'an is God's revelation in Arabic, and the emotive and evocative qualities of the original disappear almost totally in the most skilful translation.” It is clear, therefore, that no translation can replace this, divine literary work at all. Of course, a number of English translations of the Qur'an have been published; but it has always been felt that yet another effort for better translation is necessary, because all existing translations appear inadequate or carrying misleading meanings of certain verses. This feeling is not restricted to English translations; but it affects also those in other languages. Under the circumstances, should one make use of the defective translation and leave aside the perfect original, particularly when he is addressing the Almighty Allah? |
Scash:Ameen. May Allah makes us steadfast in the deen. |
purple3091:Thanks. Good night. |
purple3091:Alhamdulillah. I'll be expecting your response. Salaam. |
purple3091:Salaam. I couldn't help but notice this comment. I'll like to know the "truth" about Islam which you discovered. Because if what you "discovered" was even "half" close to the truth, you'll uphold the deen even more. I do not criticize or judge, because I don't know your struggles, and you don't know mine. So, please, tell me what you discovered that you didn't like, and In shaa Allah, it will be answered "in truth", and hopefully, Allah (SWT) will guide you back to the deen of Islam. Salaam |
butterflylion:I wonder what makes you misunderstand me by such a wide margin. You quoted me halfway. Why don't you read what I said in full and get your answer. |
truthmans2012:I wonder who told you this. A true Muslims is one who follows the Qur'an and Sunnah of Muhammad (pbuh) in truth. Also, your "speech" doesn't even support you, because I'm sure you probably know that it was the same Arabs(pagans) who opposed the spread of the message of Islam. In conclusion, a true Muslim is not one who is Arab, but one who follows the Qur'an and Sunnah of Muhammad (pbuh) in truth. These are what the true Muslims (mostly the Arabs) follow and you are not in the position to accuse them of misinterpretation. They know Islam better than you:Another misleading interpretation. Knowing Islam in truth has nothing to do with being an Arab. Read above. Quran (2:216) - "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not." Not only does this verse establish that violence can be virtuous, but it also contradicts the myth that fighting is intended only in self-defense, since the audience was obviously not under attack at the time. From the Hadith, we know that this verse was narrated at a time that Muhammad was actually trying to motivate his people into raiding merchant caravans for loot.Another wrong interpretation. Quran 2:216 Jihad ['Qital '] (holy war in the cause of God) is ordained for you (Muslims), though you dislike it. But it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and like a thing which is bad for you. But God knows, and you know not. The first mistake in this translation is that this Quranic verse actually does not use the word “Jihad”. This verse actually uses the word “Qital”, which refers to physical combat in war. Combat is ordained for Muslims in order to defend themselves and their rights, as well as the rights of others. It is sufficient to quote a verse from the Quran in this regard: 4:75 And what is wrong with you that you do not engage in combat for the sake of Allah, and for those weak, ill-treated and oppressed among men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from You one who will protect, and raise for us from You one who will help." It is most certainly a duty of all human beings to help each other from oppression and injustice. This is what Islam teaches. Commenting on verse 2:216, Abdullah Yusuf Ali writes: To fight (combat) in the cause of Truth is one of the highest forms of charity. What can you offer that is more precious than your own life? But here again the limitations come in. If you are a mere brawler, or a selfish aggressive person, or a vainglorious bully, you deserve the highest censure. (Yusuf Ali, The Holy Qur'an, Text, Translation and Commentary ) Therefore, the fighting ordained by God in the Qur'an is the fighting to establish justice and security in the land, and this is a duty upon all human beings. We will always hope for peace, but we must realize that without justice, freedom, rights and equity, peace will never be able to survive. Likewise, on verse 2:216, Abdul Majid Daryabadi writes: War, it has been truly said, is sanctioned by the law of nature – the constitution of man and the constitution of society – and is at times a biological and sociological necessity. Islam, the ideal and practical religion has allowed it, but only in cases of sheer necessity. (Daryabadi, The Glorious Qur’an, emphasis added) Islam has designated war as the last resort and only in cases of sheer necessity, in order for us to defend the rights of ourselves and others. Also, the picture becomes even more clear when we take into consideration the historical context of the revelation. Abdullah Yusuf Ali goes on to explain the historical context in his commentary on verse 2:217: The intolerance and persecution of the Pagan clique at Mecca caused untold hardships to the holy Messenger of Islam and his early disciples. They bore all with meekness and long-suffering patience until the holy one permitted them to take up arms in self-defense… (Yusuf Ali, The Holy Qur'an, Text, Translation and Commentary ) In light of the above quote, it becomes apparent that fighting has been especially ordained in conditions of severe persecution and hardship. Consequently, the Muslims are required to defend themselves from oppression and establish justice. To abstain from helping those under oppression is cowardice. Abdul Majid Daryabadi also explains the historical context of the verse: Persecuted, harassed, afflicted, poverty-ridden, exiled, and small in number as the Muslims were at the time of the enactment of warfare, it was but natural that they were none too fond of crossing swords with the mighty forces that had conspired for their extirpation. Nothing short of express and emphatic Divine Command could urge them on to the field of battle [in order to defend their rights]. And yet the Islamic jihads are declared to be ‘designed by the Prophet to satisfy his discontented adherents by an accession of plunder!’ (Margoliouth). Such is this European scholar’s love of veracity! Such is his wonderful reading of history! (Daryabadi, The Glorious Qur’an ) The commentary on this verse makes it very clear that Muslims have always understood this verse as the legal right to defend one’s rights from the forces of oppression, but never to transgress limits in defense. Quran (3:151) - "Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority".This is very clear. “(We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve) [3:151]. Said al-Suddi: “After Uhud, Abu Sufyan and the idolaters headed toward Mecca. But after they traversed a certain distance, they felt regret, saying: ‘Evil is that which we have done! We massacred them [Muslims] such that none of them remained except those who fled from the battlefield and then we left them alone. Go back and exterminate them ’. But when they decided to do so, Allah, exalted is He, cast terror in their hearts which made them decide against what they had resolved to do. Allah, exalted is He, then revealed this verse.” Another interpretation is that the verse refers to the punishment of unbelievers in the hereafter. This speaks directly of polytheists, yet it also includes Christians, since they believe in the TrinityI guess so. ie. what Muhammad incorrectly believed to be 'joining companions to Allah').Actually, it's correct. Because, you cant be telling me that the father is 1 person, the son is 1 person, and the holy ghost is 1 person but they are not 3 persons but 1, the father is 1 god, the son is 1 god, and the holy ghost is 1 god but they are not 3 gods but 1. What language are you speaking, because by Allah, it is not English but gibberish. You see, when you use words, the mind cant help but conjure up mental pictures. Maybe when you here "the father", you picture Santa Claus, but much bigger, with the heavens as canopy, and all that. When you hear "the son", you imagine Jesus (pbuh), and when you hear "the holy ghost", the picture might not be clear, but you imagine either the dove, during the baptism, or the figure in the fire at Pentecost. But no matter how hard you try, you can never super impose these 3 pictures. So, when you say you only see one being, you are lying, my brother, you are lying. Quran (4:74) - "Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward." The martyrs of Islam are unlike the early Christians, who were led meekly to the slaughter. These Muslims are killed in battle as they attempt to inflict death and destruction for the cause of Allah. This is the theological basis for today's suicide bombers.Again, another misleading quotation. I'm sure you didn't read the verse immediately after this to know what "fighting in the cause of Allah" is. 4:75 And what is wrong with you that you do not engage in combat for the sake of Allah, and for those weak, ill-treated and oppressed among men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from You one who will protect, and raise for us from You one who will help." Please tell me how that relates to "suicide bombing". You don't know Islam. Stop spreading false info to mislead others. Quran (4:89) - "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks."Again, another malicious quotation. Why don't you read it in full, if you are truthful. "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks; – Except those who join a group between whom and you there is a treaty (of peace), or those who approach you with hearts restraining them from fighting you as well as fighting their own people. If Allah had pleased, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you: Therefore if they withdraw from you but fight you not, and (instead) send you (Guarantees of) peace, then Allah Hath opened no way for you (to war against them). Others you will find that wish to gain your confidence as well as that of their people: Every time they are sent back to temptation, they succumb thereto: if they withdraw not from you nor give you (guarantees) of peace besides restraining their hands, seize them and slay them wherever ye get them: In their case We have provided you with a clear argument against them". (YUSUF ALI Translation, Quran 4:89-91) Please, tell me where it says Muslims should go about on a killing spree with innocent and peaceful people, whether believers or not. Quran (4:95) - "Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame, etc.), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each, Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward "First, "Jihad" means to struggle or persevere, or strive. Any action that involves striving to please Allah, or striving to abstain from sin is Jihad. Jihad could also be in form of physical fighting, only in the case of fighting oppression. So, apply this if you are truthful and tell me how it involves killing innocents. This passage criticizes "peaceful" Muslims who do not join in the violence, letting them know that they are less worthy in Allah's eyes. It also demolishes the modern myth that "Jihad" doesn't mean holy war in the Quran, but rather a spiritual struggle. Not only is this Arabic word used in this passage, but it is clearly not referring to anything spiritual, since the physically disabled are given exemption. (The Hadith reveals the context of the passage to be in response to a blind man's protest that he is unable to engage in Jihad and this is reflected in other translations of the verse). Allah will allow the disabled into Paradise, but will provide a larger reward to those who are able to kill in his cause.Wow! I think you should clap for yourself. See how you interpret the verse maliciously. I already told you above that the only form of Jihad that involves fighting physically, is fighting against oppression. Also, if you read the preceding verse, you'll see that your interpretation is entirely false and unfounded. Again, only if you are truthful. Also 4:94 prevents killing of innocents as it says “…be careful to discriminate, and say not unto one who offereth you peace: “Thou art not a believer,” seeking the chance profits of this life…” Those quranic verses of violence is the reason the Arabs, including Muhammad's own relatives, the Saudi Arabians are violent.I don't know how true your "claims" of "violence" are, but like i said, that is not the basis of Islam, rather, the basis of Islam is the Quran and Authentic hadith. And if you are truthful, you'll clearly see that your so called quotes of violence are entirely false and unfounded. You can't claim to know better than the people who introduced the religion to you.Why not? Besides, Islam is for the whole world, so, again, understanding and following the Quran and Sunnah of Muhammad (pbuh) in truth has nothing to do with being an Arab. Salaam.

annunaki2:Wow! Clap for yourself. A true Muslim is one who follows the Qur'an and Authentic hadith, which you, as well as radical groups, misquote and twist to satisfy your unfounded claims. See how you think alike? Except if you are just being a typical aal taquiya Muslim.Wow! Again, clap for yourself. When you are presented with the truth, you claim "Al taqiyya", which has no basis in Islam. Shia Muslims may practice it, but it is nowhere in the Qur'an and hadith. Why don't you provide evidence of you claim of "Al taqiyya". Also, I'm pretty sure you don't know that your revered Paul practiced Al taqiyya, he deceived people in order to bring them to Christianity. Check Corinthians 9:19-23. Salaam #ISLAMISPEACE |
truthmans2012:Just, is in a case of defense. Fighting against the other party, in a case of war (it is a sin to start a war, but if one is started against you, there is no prohibition on you if you fight back). Also, in the case of murder, the murderer can be put to death, adultery, and any I failed to mention. But basically, anything outside this is prohibited and unjust. What is the interpretation of this?Note; you don't just pick a hadith out of it's context. This command was given in a time of war, and was referring to the Pagans, who were at war with the Muslims. Salaam. |
Scholar8200:Again, this is not the basis of Islam. That they see themselves as better Muslims or not is not the issue. The question is "how does Allah see you?" If I killed someone because he made some "blasphemous" statements, that would be very stupid and ludicrous because I have not even presented Islam to that person, nor offered the person a fair shot at salvation, and I have gone against the teachings of Muhammad and the Qur'an. Kindly list those that use the Bible for violence and mention the portions in the Bible that encourages, not by application but directly, violence.Take a look at this. http://www.salon.com/2015/04/07/6_modern_day_christian_terrorist_groups_our_media_conveniently_ignores_partner/ sir, be honest in replying:Why not, that's why I'm a Muslim. 1. A christian stands in the market place in the core north and preaches denouncing any prophet that contradicts Jesus, what will be his fate?I don't see why any Muslim should be bothered by someone doing the above, because Muhammad (pbuh) never contradicted Jesus (pbuh), but made it possible for us (Muslims) to believe in him , hence no Muslim should be bothered by this. But, I understand what you are trying to say. You only look at it from one side. Let's take Zamfara state for example. It operates on Shari'a, how many cases of violence have been reported from there? As good as non. 2. A muslim stands in the market in the south and blasphemes Jesus, what will be his fate?Again, any one who "blasphemes" against Jesus (pbuh) cannot be called a Muslim, because belief in Jesus (pbuh) is a core matter of faith in Islam. Yet again, I understand what you are trying to say. But like I said before, Islam is perfect, Muslims are not. The actions that were taken in the past by normal adherents only tell you that the few you are referring to today as renegades are only doing what the normal ones would also do with a little motivation/provocation.This assumption is wrong. Take me for example. I have a friend, David, he says what you refer to as "blasphemous statements" regularly. He says, and I quote; "Islam is deceit, Islam is the problem of the world, Islam is stupid, the Qur'an is rubbish, etc". Yet, in as much as I don't like it, I do not as much as abuse him with words, talk less of a physical attack. Rather, I admonish and advise him, you know why, because I follow the example of Muhammad (pbuh); I know that unjust killing will only land me in hell, I know that i I'm supposed to present Islam in the best of words and manners, I consider him as a potential Muslim, like Muhammad saw the people of Ta'if, who stoned him, and caused him to bleed all over, yet, he refused the Angels from crushing them beneath the mountains, because he saw them as potential Muslims. |
truthmans2012:You see, I keep telling people that the actions of some Muslims is not the basis of Islam . Rather, the basis of Islam is the Qur'an and Authentic hadith. Islam is perfect, Muslims are not. Also, if violence was the norm, why aren't all Muslims doing it. There are over 1500 million to 2000 million Muslims, yet it is only a few radical groups that perpetuate evil. Do not be hasty in conclusion. There are many violent Christian groups out there, who quote verse of the bible to support their actions, yet, I don't generalize. Also, you only showed Christians that were killed. I'm pretty sure it's no news that many Muslims were killed also. E.g, the suicide bombing in a mosque, on a Friday, in Maiduguri, and in other places. So, let's not operate on double standards. Sometimes it's funny, because when you look at it, you have the same view with these terrorists (that Islam promotes Islam promotes violence). I'm pretty sure that if Shekau was here, he'll agree with you completely. Salaam.

CONTINUATION! Why would God give humans the ability to reason - then punish them for rejecting beliefs reason cannot reconcile?God has given us the ability to reason so as to differentiate truth from falsehood, and for us to think. Also, why don't you show me the "beliefs" that don't apply to reason. Why does the human body look suspiciously like it was the result of a long cumulative process of evolution resulting in imperfections and vestigial organs and genes - and not the result of the instant and perfectly planned creation of Adam and Eve?I think you should be asking yourself how such a complicated structure, of various cells, which form tissues, which form organs, which finally form systems, which constitute the human body could have come from a group of Amoeba that do not even posses a brain. This is the very reason Allah gave us the ability to reason. You have been living for a number of years, how many fishes have you seen evolve to amphibians, or amphibians to birds, or birds to mammals? Please my brother, be reasonable. Which is more evil, the imperfect creature who commits evil or the perfect entity which created evil?Read above and get your answer. Is being good because you fear God, really being good? And I am commanded to be the first of the Muslims . ’ Say: ‘ I fear , were I to disobey my Lord , the punishment of a terrible Day. ’ (Surat Az - Zumar12 - 13 ) Say: ‘ Am I to take anyone other than Allah as my protector , the Bringer into Being of the heavens and the earth, He Who feeds and is not fed?’ Say: ‘ I am commanded to be the first of the Muslims, ’ and , ‘Do not be among those ascribing partners to Allah . ’ Say: ‘ I fear , were I to disobey my Lord , the punishment of a dreadful Day . ’ (Surat Al-An‘am 14- 15). You may interpret"fear" as something else. But in truth, I do good deeds because of my immense love for, and raging desire to please my creator, Allah. While my fear of him prevents me from committing sin and incurring his wrath. Why did God send all known prophets, miracles and books to one area of the world and at a time when people were superstitious and gullible?"And for every Ummah (a community or a nation), there is a Messenger; when their Messenger comes, the matter will be judged between them with justice, and they will not be wronged." (Qur'an 10:47) "And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): "Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e., do not worship Taghut besides Allah)." Then of them were some whom Allah guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth)." (Qur'an 16:36) Also, some of these Messengers are mentioned in the Qur'an by Allah and some of them are not as the Qur'an says: "And, indeed We have sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad(P) ); of some of them We have related to you their story and of some We have not related to you their story, and it was not given to any Messenger that he should bring a sign except by the Leave of Allah. So, when comes the Commandment of Allah, the matter will be decided with truth, and the followers of falsehood will then be lost." (Qur'an 40:78) It is clear that every nation was sent a messenger. Also, concerning the second part, you have answered your question. The messengers and prophets were sent to people to clear their superstitions Why did God only protect the Qur'an from corruption? Couldn't he have protected the Bible and prevented billions claiming he has a son?Narrated Ubaidullah: Ibn `Abbas said, "Why do you ask the people of the scripture about anything while your Book (Qur'an) which has been revealed to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ ) is newer and the latest? You read it pure, undistorted and unchanged, and Allah has told you that the people of the scripture (Jews and Christians) changed their scripture and distorted it, and wrote the scripture with their own hands and said, 'It is from Allah,' to sell it for a little gain. Does not the knowledge which has come to you prevent you from asking them about anything? No, by Allah, we have never seen any man from them asking you regarding what has been revealed to you!" (Sahih al-Bukhari 7363 Book 96, Hadith 9) In Surah Al-Hijr [15:9] Allah (swt) has written: "We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption)." So why has Allah (swt) protect the Qur'an but not the Bible? According to Islamic perspective, this whole world is nothing more but to test us. Allah (swt) put in the Bible a promise (a test). A promise to those who try to tamper His words in the Bible that they would face hell fire. So to sum it up Allah protected the Qur'an but not the Bible, as for the Bible it was a test to see if people were truly "God fearing" and would stand strong to Allah's tests. So he gave the people of the book (Jews and Christians) a test and to put it simply they failed. Allah (swt) protected the Qur'an, indicating that this test was no longer existed for the Muslims. What was so special about prophet Jesus that God made him born to a virgin? Took him up to heaven before he was crucified? And is going to bring him back again before the day of judgment? Why don't you ask "what was so special about Adam (pbuh) that God created him personally, i.e, without father or mother", because even Jesus (pbuh) was still formed as a foetus in the womb, and was given birth to like any other baby, and the bible even says he was circumcised on the 8th day. Do you believe it's acceptable for a husband to hit a rebellious wife?I'm pretty sure you are talking about this; "Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand." Here again, you misunderstand. There are steps here. If your wife is rebellious, you are commanded to advise or admonish her. Is there anything wrong in a married couple having a heart-to-heart in resolving issues. Also, if she is a good wife, this should be enough. But again, if she doesn't listen to your advice, and continues her rebellion, you should abandon her to her bed. I believe that if she is a good woman, on seeing her husband do this, she'll dialog with him. Again, if the first two failed, you are asked to beat. NOTE: Some scholars say it is a symbolic beating, as in using a toothpick to hit, and they all agree that you do not beat on the face or to cause injury. But, whether it is symbolic a not, I don't see why a loving couple should get past the first stage. Why do so many characteristics of Allah like anger and vengefulness seem like human ones?Allah's wrath is not similar to Human Anger...In the sense that a human loses control when angry...Allah doesn't lose control when he is angry. Imagine a Robot that a scientist creates and programs it to do certain tasks a certain way. If that Robot goes against the rules of that scientist and disowns the scientist by saying he didn't create me , I was created by someone else or came into existence on my own , What would the Scientist do? He will say you know what , the Robot I have created is crap...I should dismantle it , dump it and destroy it. We Humans being the Creation of Allah(SWT) , the atheists amongst us say that their creator doesn't exist! Some of them say We were created not by ALLAH(SWT) but other gods. Humans on the face of the earth do EVERYTHING that has been prohibited by Allah and IGNORE EVERYTHING that has been commanded by ALLAH(SWT) EVEN THEN , ALLAH (SWT) gives you a chance to live , EVEN THEN HE(SWT) provides you with food , water , shelter!! IT IS ONLY BECAUSE ALLAH(SWT) KNOWS HOW TO CONTROL HIS ANGER AND ONLY BECAUSE HIS MERCY IS FAR GREATER THAN HIS WRATH!!! IF IT WAS NOT FOR HIS MERCY , EVERY DISBELIEVER WOULD HAVE BEEN DESTROYED. Why does the Qur'an say don't ask questions about things, when the answer would trouble you. Should followers of other religions also not ask questions about their religion when it might trouble them?I'm sure you are talking about this verse: "O you who believe! Ask not about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble." (Qur'an 5:101) Regarding this verse Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said: the prohibition on asking was applicable only at the time when the Revelation was coming down, at which time it was possible that the rulings could be renewed or changed. But after the death of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him and his family), it is obligatory for the individual to ask about everything that he needs to know about matters of his religion. Fataawa Noor ‘ala ad-Darb by Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (24/223) The prohibition mentioned in the verse applies specifically to the time of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), which was the time when Revelation was still coming down, unlike times that came after that. Hence this does not mean that we should not seek Islamic knowledge and learn that which will benefit us or that we need to know with regard to matters of this life and the hereafter. The things that they were forbidden to ask about were: 1. Things that had no bearing on their actions and were of no benefit in religious terms 2. Things that Islam said nothing about, out of mercy to people, not out of forgetfulness, because asking too many questions about that could lead to them being forbidden, which would cause hardship for people. Al-Bukhaari (6745) and Muslim (4349) narrated that Sa‘d ibn Abi Waqqaas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “One of the worst sins a Muslim could commit is asking about something that was not prohibited to the Muslims, but it became prohibited to them because of his asking.” 3. Things that were unknown to those who asked about them, which if they were made plain to them would cause them trouble. Why will God never forgive Shirk? This is only the case, when the person dies without repenting of the sin of shirk. What are they really guilty of? Ignorance?Nope, especially not in this era of the media. So, that cannot be an excuse. Besides, Allah says he will show his signs in the farthest horizons. Being born to the wrong family? That is why we have been given minds to reason, and not just follow blindly. You believe other people are following false, corrupted or unfounded beliefs? Are you certain you're not also?I'm certain Islam is the only truth because it is evident in the Qur'an. Salaam. |
IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE BENEFICENT, THE MERCIFUL JUDASiskariot:Thank you for these questions and thank you for the way you presented them in a very respectable manner. Here we go:My understanding of this question is; why did God create us in the first place? Now if we are to look initially into revelation, to determine why was man created, there is a deeper question that we should be asking before that: "Why did God create?" This before we even get to man because man is not the greatest act of creation. Allah says: "The creation of the Heavens and the Earth is indeed greater then the creation of mankind; yet, most of mankind know not." —Al-Qur'an 40:57 Man is not the greatest act of creation, this universe is far more complex and far more magnificent than man. So the issue of creation should then go to, "Why did God create?", as opposed to simply, "Why create man?" Fundamentally, we can say that the creation is the natural consequence of the attribute of creator. Allah is the creator. That is one of his attributes. That is what he has informed us. That being his attribute, the creator, the natural consequence or the product of this attribute is his creation. A painter, if we are to draw a similitude on a lower level, who tells you that he is a painter, if you ask him where are his paintings and he replies I don't have any. What kind of painter is this? The concept of a painter who doesn't paint, there is some thing not quite gelling together here, of course Allah is beyond this. But if we are to understand on the simplest level, the two go together. The perfection of a painter lies in his paintings. His quality and his ability to paint, is manifest in his paintings. And Allah, beyond all that, as creator, this quality of creation is manifest in the creation itself. Allah didn't create out of a need. No, the fact that he is the creator, is manifest in the creation. If creation is for our benefit, then what is the benefit to those who will burn forever? Our creation is for our benefit, in that we have a fair shot at attaining paradise. Also, there is no benefit for the innates of hell. Consequently, this leads to your next question. What's the point of God's test when he knows the outcome? Is it just so he can have a reason to punishment & reward?Allah does not admit people to Paradise or Hell simply because He knows that they deserve that, rather He will admit them to Paradise or Hell on the basis of the deeds that they actually did in this world. If Allah created mankind and put them in His Hell, they would soon argue that He did not test them or give them the chance to strive. Allah wanted to refute this argument, so He created them in this world and gave them reason, and revealed His Books, and sent His Messengers; all of that is so that they will have no argument against Allah on the Day of Resurrection. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Messengers as bearers of good news as well as of warning in order that mankind should have no plea against Allah after the (coming of) Messengers. And Allah is Ever All‑Powerful, All‑Wise” [al-Nisa’ 4:165] . Shaykh Muhammad al-Ameen al-Shanqeeti (may Allah have mercy on him) said: In this ayah it clearly states that it is essential to leave no excuse for anyone, by sending the Messengers who give glad tidings of Paradise to those who obey them and give warning of Hell to those who disobey them. This excuse is completely ruled out here by the sending of the Messengers with glad tidings and warnings, as is stated at the end of Soorah Ta-Ha where Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And if We had destroyed them with a torment before this (i.e. Messenger Muhammad pbuh and the Qur'an), they would surely, have said: ‘Our Lord! If only You had sent us a Messenger, we should certainly have followed Your Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), before we were humiliated and disgraced’” [Ta-Ha 20:134] . It is also referred to in Surah al-Qasas where Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And if (We had) not (sent you to the people of Makkah) __ in case a calamity should seize them for (the deeds) that their hands have sent forth, they would have said: ‘Our Lord! Why did You not send us a Messenger? We would then have followed Your Ayat (Verses of the Qur’an) and would have been among the believers’” [al-Qasas 28:47] . And Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “This is because your Lord would not destroy the (populations of) towns for their wrongdoing (i.e. associating others in worship along with Allah) while their people were unaware (so the Messengers were sent)” [al-An’aam 6:131] Can a being who creates humans he knows will fail his test and will be tortured without end, be called The Most Merciful of those who show Mercy? That is even proof of his infinite mercy. Because, despite He knows our outcomes, He has given us a fair chance to get a shot at paradise. If God wanted us to freely choose to worship him - then why threaten us? Does someone with a gun to his head really have free choice?God doesn't threaten. His warnings are for our benefits, as humans. For example, if there was no punishment for fornication, I'm pretty sure you know what next. So, the punishments are to keep us in check. If you were to do something good without reward or something bad without a prescribed punishment, I'm sure you can picture such a society. Hence, these act as checks and balances. Because, if i do something good, i know it is accounted, and if I do something bad, it is accounted for. Why does God cause so much suffering to humans? Is it part of God's test to prompt them to turn to him in obedience and worship? Isn't that like a con-man who causes a problem then offers to fix it for you?In response to your question, Dr. Muzammil H. Siddiqi , Director of the Islamic Society of Orange County and President of the Islamic Society of North America, states: “Indeed Allah is All-Powerful (Al-`Aziz) and He is able to do all things (`ala kull sha’in qadir). The Qur’an has mentioned this hundreds of times. It is also mentioned in the Qur’an that Allah is the Creator and He is the Best Creator. "Glory be to Allah, the best Creator."(Al-Mu’minun: 14) But then the question comes why do pain and sufferings exist in the world. We find sickness, old age and death. We see things that are ugly, people who are insane and foolish. There are storms, earthquakes, floods, drought and famine. We also see people commit sins, show disloyalty, unfaithfulness, greed and insincerity. We see people commit rapes, murders; they fight and make wars. We know all these and many more problems. There are evils caused by human beings and there are natural disasters. There are suffering for individuals and there are those that involve a large number of people. But we also know that this is not the whole story. Besides all these negative things, we also see beauty, health, prosperity, life, birth, wisdom, intelligence, growth and progress. We also see goodness among people, faith, sincerity, charity, love and the spirit of sacrifice. We also see a lot of virtue and piety. It is wrong to see one side of the coin and not to see the other side. Any philosophy that concentrates on one aspect of the creation and denies or ignores the other side is partially true and partial truths are no truth at all. It is also the fact that the element of good is more in the creation than the element of evil. We all see that there are more people who are healthy than those who are sick. There are more that eat well than those who starve. There are more that lead decent life than those who commit crimes. Goodness is the rule and evil is the exception. Virtue is the norm and sin is the aberration. Generally trees bear fruits, the flowers bloom, the winds move smoothly. But then the question is why does Allah allow these exceptions to the rules? Let us ask this question to understand Allah’s ways in His creation. The Qur’an tells us that good, evil and whatever happens in this world happens by Allah’s Will (masha Allah). Only Allah knows fully His Will. We finite beings cannot grasp fully His infinite Will and Wisdom. He runs His universe the way He deems fit. The Qur’an tells us that Allah is Wise and everything that Allah does is right, just, good and fair. We must submit and surrender to His Will. The Qur’an has not given us all the details about Allah’s Will, but it has enlightened us with the guidance that is useful and sufficient for us. There are several points that we should keep in our mind to understand this issue: 1. First of all, Allah did not make this world a permanent world. This is a temporary world and everything here has a time limit. When its times comes it will die, come to an end and finish. Neither the good things of this world are forever, nor the bad things eternal. We are here for a short time and we are being tested. Those who will pass this test will find an eternal world that is perfect and permanent. Those who will fail this test shall see the evil consequences of their sins and corruption. 2. Allah has placed a physical law and a moral law in this universe. Allah allows suffering to occur when one or more of these laws are broken. The physical law is based on cause and effect. Sickness comes if one does not take care of one’s health or is exposed to infections. A car accident occurs when one is not alert, or drives in a careless manner, or if the cars are not checked, roads and freeways are not made and kept in right shape, or the traffic laws are not right or not properly enforced. Study of causes and effects is very important to facilitate safeguards. Even here we should keep in mind that Allah often saves us and He does not let us suffer from every negligence. How many times it happens that we are not careful and still we reach safely to our destinations. The way people drive in some cities, it is a miracle that more accidents do not happen and more people do not suffer. Allah says: “(Allah) Most Gracious! It is He Who has taught the Qur’an. He has created man: He has taught him speech (and Intelligence). The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; and the herbs and the trees both (alike) bow in adoration. And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), in order that you may not transgress (due) balance. So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures.” (Ar-Rahman:1-10) The way we exceed the measures set by Allah and violate His laws of cause and effect is incredible. It is really the mercy of Allah that we are saved. Strictly speaking, the question should not be why does Allah allow suffering, but how much Allah protects us and saves us all the time in spite of our violations and negligence. The Qur’an says: “If Allah were to punish people according to what they deserve, He would not leave on the back of the (earth) a single living creature: but He gives them respite for a stated Term: when their Term expires, verily Allah has in His sight all His servants.” (Fatir:45) But sometimes Allah does punish people because of their violations of His laws whether they are physical or moral. The Qur’an tells us that many nations and communities were destroyed because of their sinful lifestyles: “If they treat thy (mission) as false, so did the Peoples before them (with their Prophets), the People of Noah, and Ad and Thamud. Those of Abraham and Lut; and the Companions of the Madyan people; and Moses was rejected (in the same way). But I granted respite to the Unbelievers, and (only) after that did I punish them: but how (terrible) was My rejection (of them)! How many populations have We destroyed, which were given to wrong-doing! They tumbled down on their roofs. And how many wells are lying idle and neglected, and castles lofty and well-built?” (Al-Hajj: 42-45) 3. Suffering can also be a test and trial for some people. Allah allows some people to suffer in order to test their patience and steadfastness. Even Allah’s Prophets and Messengers were made to suffer. Prophet Ayyub is mentioned in the Qur’an as a Prophet who was very patient. Good people sometimes suffer but their sufferings heal others and bring goodness to their communities. People learn lessons from their good examples. Martyrs die for their faith, soldiers give their lives for their nations and this brings liberation and freedom for their people. 4. Allah sometimes allows some people to suffer to test others, how they react to them. When you see a person who is sick, poor and needy, then you are tested by Allah. Allah is there with that suffering person to test your charity and your faith. In a very moving Hadith Qudsi (Divine Hadith) the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “[b]Allah will say on the Day of Judgment, ‘O son of Adam, I was sick and you did not visit Me.’ He will say, ‘O my Lord, how could I visit You, when you are the Lord of the Worlds.’ Allah will say, ‘Did you not know that My servant so-and-so was sick and you did not visit him? Did you not know that if you had visited him, you would have found Me there?’ Allah will say, ‘O son of Adam, I asked you for food and you fed Me not.’ He shall say, ‘O my Lord, how could I feed you and you are the Lord of the Worlds?’ And Allah will say, ‘Did you not know that My servant so-and-so was in need of food and you did not feed him? Did you not know that if you had fed him, you would have found that to have been for Me?’ ‘O son of Adam, I asked you for water and you did not give Me to drink.’ The man shall say, ‘O my Lord, how could I give You water, when You are the Lord of the Worlds?’ Allah will say, ‘My servant so-and-so asked you for water and you did not give him to drink water. Did you not know that if you had given him to drink, you would have found that to have been for Me.’ [/b](Muslim, Hadith no. 4661) Prophet `Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him, is also reported to have said something similar. (See Matthew 25: 35-45) So to summarize, we can say that sufferings occur to teach us that we must adhere to Allah’s natural and moral laws. It is sometimes to punish those who violate Allah’s natural or moral laws. It is to test our faith in Allah and to test our commitment to human values and charity. Whenever we encounter suffering we should ask ourselves, “Have we broken any law of Allah?” Let us study the cause of the problem and use the corrective methods. “Could it be a punishment?” Let us repent and ask forgiveness and reform our ways. “Could it be a test and trial for us?” Let us work hard to pass this test. Believers face the sufferings with prayers, repentance and good deeds. The non-believers face the sufferings with doubt and confusion. They blame Allah or make arguments against Him. May Allah keep us on the right path, Ameen! |
Seun:Thank you for this question. In Islam, we believe God Almighty has no resemblance with his creation. Quran 112:4 "And there us none like him". Thus, any cartoon drawn can only be that of a man, stated to be God, for example, we know F=Ma in physics, but I could say Y=Ma, where Y represents force. So also, a cartoon of God cannot be drawn, but what can be drawn is a cartoon of someone or something thought to be God. Therefore, whatever anyone draws, to represent God, is for him (his god, and not mine) and doesn't affect me in anyway. In other words, I won't care. |
Seun:I've not seen any cartoon of God. |
Obadiah77:I don't think you have read the true story of Ka'b bin al-Ashraf. In summary, he used his poems to instigate and incite the pagan Arabs of Makka into fighting war against the Muslims (by doing so, he neglected the peace treaty binding on the Muslims and Jews in Madina). Still, he was not harmed. But he took it too far by trying to kill the prophet. How? How could he be so evil, to invite the Prophet to a meal, and then have some people kill him there? That's how evil he was. He was therefore treated as a combatant. NOTE: The Prophet only gave permission for him to be killed, the manner or way that happened was unknown to Muhammad (pbuh). Let's be sincere, if someone instigated your sworn enemies to attack your people (note; these people see you as their leader and believe in you), yet, you still ignore, and then, the person plots to kill you in the most cunning way, despite your show of love, I'm pretty sure you'll want to do what's necessary to protect your people, because there's no telling what such a person will do next. |
In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful Obadiah77I noticed your post. But I decided not to post any specific rebuttals, but I will implore you to go back and read your post. First, you are interpreting the Qur'an, the way you do your bible, I.e, you read one thing and you understand it in an entirely different way, even if it's plain English. You interpreted "AND" as equality. If so, then when Jesus (pbuh, according to the bible) said he, AND his disciples are one with God, according to your interpretation, that's equality, and a case of 14 gods. Nice isn't it. Similarly, if I say I saw an ant "AND" a cockroach, I'm pretty sure that equates the ant with the cockroach, according to your interpretation. Also, you should re read the verses which you quoted to mean Jesus is God. "He gave life to clay BY GOD'S PERMISSION ". I wonder how you managed to not see that, except you didn't want to. I hope you don't find my wordings insulting, if you do, please draw my attention to it. Salaam |
butterflylion:You used the words; "I hear". Islam is not based on hearsay, but on the Qur'an and sunnah. So, why don't you go through the Qur'an and Authentic hadith and show me where it says that "Allah lies". Also, you misunderstand the meaning of the word "Allah". Allah means "the one who deserves to be worshipped". The Arabic word for god is ilah, which can be manipulated to feminine (goddess) or plural (gods), as in ilaha and ilahi. But, the word "Allah" is unique, can't be made plural or feminine. So, if you respect God, you'll respect the name "Allah". |
NOTE: THIS IS NOT TO SPITE ANYONE. THERE ARE SOME WORDS THAT HAVE TO BE USED, IN ORDER TO PUT ACROSS ONE'S POINTS. PLS, IF YOU FIND ANY INSULTING, DRAW MY ATTEND TO IT. manmacho:Of course. He is just. Also, Allah says in the Qur'an that he is severe in punishment, but His mercy embraces all. his judgement for sin is death. That doesn't sound like mercy to me. It sounds more like injustice, because God Almighty has made us imperfect, so, we sin, and the best of those who sin are those who repent. Anyways, are you saying before 'the blood', people were just dying like fishes in poisoned waters?, because man is prone to make mistakes. what is the use of forgiveness when the nature of sin (flesh) is still aliveWell, even after 'the blood', there is still flesh, and hence sin, so, it means 'the blood' didn't do anything. the reason why God could not Forgive AdamSo, you are saying Adam is going to hell?. Also, you said, and I quote "…God could not Forgive...". How can that be God. God can do anything. If you had said God didn't, or 'would not' forgive, it would mean that He can forgive, but doesn't, or didn't. But, when you use 'could not', it means He didn't have power to do that. He sin caused death for the whole of humanityNope. That excludes me. My Lord and God, is just, and does not punish me for sins I didn't commit. If your bro (elder) does something wrong, and your dad punishes you for it, would you see that as just? Please, be truthful in your answer. because God told him the day he eat the fruit he will dieIf you say eternal, seems like you are implying that "your" Adam is going to hell the remedy to this death is remission through the sacrifice of bloodNope. I didn't lose anything, because I wasn't there when Adam sinned. Also, where in the bible did Jesus say; if you don't accept 'the blood' you won't enter heaven?, because from what I read, Jesus said; "unless your good works exceed that of the pharisees and scribes, you will not enter heaven", not "unless you accept the blood". So, brother don't depend on God forgiving you, God truly want to save you from the nature of sinThis just sounds worse. You make it seem as if sin is so big that God cannot overcome it easily, anyway, no wonder He had to sacrifice his son, part of himself, or an innocent man, according to different Christians, to overcome it. YOU NEED THE REMISSION OF YOUR SIN NOT FORGIVENESSWhat are you saying? There are still Christians, in fact, all Christians who claim to have accepted 'the blood" still sin, and need forgiveness of sin. So, again you nullify the role of "the blood". if God forgive you today you will always need forgivenessThat's why we are humans. and you will not meet the criteria to no him because God is Holy and cannot behold your SINYou and I are human, and make mistakes. We can never be perfect, yet, that doesn't put any barrier between us and God. Jesus is the solution to the world sin and forgiveness is truly available only to those who have accepted Jesus and not for an unbeliever like you. what you need is the REMISSION OF YOUR SIN, which can only happen when you accept Jesus as your Lord and SaviourLook, I have accepted Jesus (pbuh) as a messenger and prophet of God. Also, even after your "remission", you still sin like there's no tomorrow. So, what are you saying? Except you want to claim that you are perfect, if your answer is NO, then you can never see God because God is perfect. That only sounds like a cruel God, because He created us imperfect, and He still distances himself away from us. That doesn't sound like God to me. Allah says, "the sincere repentance of the sinner is more beloved to me than the piety of the pious". the solution to seeing and meeting God after you die is to accept God's solution to Sin and perfection - JESUS THE SON OF GODFirst, I have accepted the true solution, which is to do your best to avoid sin, and when you sin, repent sincerely, because if someone has already died for my sins, my being on this earth is pointless because you are here to strive against sin and temptations, by worshipping God in total submission, not to accept any "blood". God created me to worship him (in all aspect, including, striving to do good and avoid evil), not to accept "some blood". Also, when you say "son of God", what do you mean? If you mean "son of God", because he (Jesus) was a righteous servant of God, I agree. But if you say 'son', as in "begotten son", I do not agree. THANK YOUYou are welcome. I'll like your answers to my questions, and more explanations on many extravagant claims. Like I said, this is not to spite, but to reason, so, I urge my brothers and sisters to apply reason to this! |
butterflylion:Ok. They've been provided anyway. |
Can someone help a sister to explain this please. Thank you in advance.
