TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by harwe: 4:28pm On Aug 25, 2022
Yes i actually called and got the penalty waved. I was just asked to pay the charges that was meant tobe paid and that was done immediately.

LagosismyHome:
Call and plead with them that you were not aware ...I think first offense they usually waive. But I don't know of 4 tickets

Similar with dropping at Heathrow , it now comes 2ith a £5 charge and if you don't pay within 3 days it goes to £40. ... so now I rather go the car pack, that way I am forced to remember and pay

USed the online platform to search they include Zoopla, Rightmove, Leaders and many others. Set a notification on the very type of house you have so if any house that meets the status is added you will be notified and you can reach out to them. You might want to add may 10 or 20 Quid to the rent to stand out amongst those who came for viewing once you like the house. It works well and that's how i did mine.

unknownknowguy:

Lexusgs430:
Did you park the car ? Yes
Did you have a valid permit to park ? No

Assuming you parked your car,in your designated parking slot...... Without displaying a valid permit, you would still receive a contravention notice .........

Just pay the lesser discounted rate and move on ...... Lesson learnt ........ cheesy

If you appeal, the possibility of winning the appeal is 0%........ wink

This is so so right. Thank you for the information..If I may ask what is CCJ?

dubaiprince:
Building your credit score is a process happens over time. Start by getting on the electoral roll (make sure you register when you move residence). People will say you should get phone contracts, credit builder cards and all. All I would say is that be financially disciplined in a financial arrangement you enter (NEVER MISS A REPAYMENT), avoid matters that can lead to CCJs and don't try to apply for multiple credits at once.

If you know credit is not your thing, just don't apply. having to many hard checks and/or missed payment on your credit file have far reaching implications.

So sorry for your friend about his ordeal.

Do you have an idea of where he or she works here in the UK?

Mobil567:
asking for a friend who just received breakfast.
His PSW has just been denied on the basis of working more than 20 hours during term time.
He has been given the notice to leave the UK within 6 weeks or appeal the case.
Please any advice? I suggested he come to my area but he still wants to be in the UK.....

I have asked him to also come and share his case here for better analysis but he is really down atm. It's really paining him because his friend who worked over 20 hours got away with it, his own was approved.
if you have a suggestion, pls share thanks cool

NIN or NI

Which documents did you post?

They still post sha. I know of someone who applied and got it in 3weeks.

How many times did you apply? 3 times?

Igbamatigbi:
Hello,

I applied for my NIN in November didn't get it after sending photocopies of the documents through post as requested, waited for 16 weeks it didn't come, so I applied again, nothing like post again.
I was even planning to send the documents though didn't see a mail like the first which requested for the documents.
Anyways, I reapplied again and got it under 5 working days

Thanks chief

Ray7878:
Yes you can work without it, and claim back the taxes if they put you on BR. It’s just bizarre that it’s over 4 months. Reason why I said that is because due to this Covid restrictions nowadays, most things are done online and quicker. You don’t need to go and sit in an office and start explaining yourself. But anyways it would come through, just make sure you claim your taxes back, because am sure they would be taxing you a lot of BR.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by harwe: 12:52pm On Mar 19, 2022
I am actually working but i am getting worried.

Ray7878:
That’s a bit bizarre. Do you have any job centres around where you live? If you do then go there. Because it shouldn’t take 4 months to send you yours via the post.

Kindly Check your DM

Thanks
Ray7878:
Have you been able to obtain the number or you are just waiting for the actual card? You can always ring DWP (Department of work and pension) for it. It shouldn’t take that long to send your NI number via post.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by harwe: 7:55am On Mar 19, 2022
I have not obtain the number neither will i get the card.

Its really bothering me. I have tried calling DWP but they keep saying they are not the one incharge of issuance if NI

Its getting so stressful daily.

Buying a car in UK can we talk about what one should look out for?

A friend got a Diesel car yesterday unknowing to him that there is something called Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ).

Can we advice ourselves on what to look out for, where to buy a car and things to check on the car.

I feel others should not make such mistakes.

If u have LG or Samsung TV u can download an app called smart iptv on it and then find vendors that will load the channels for you. It ranges from £25-£60/year depending on the quality of channels and how well u can search for bargains angry

Interesting thing about most vendors is they give btw 12-24hrs free trial (but NOT on match days). Vendors are all over Facebook market place, eBay and even ali shocked. Most vendors have telegram groups to communicate streaming channels, updates and to report issues. Each vendor have their own area of interest, some it’s movies, for some it’s live sports, while some do everything. My vendor does everything Infact they just added African magic Yoruba wink and almost all DSTV channels especially the sport ones.

Another option is the Amazon firestick, you can buy it from Argos or Amazon and watch a YouTube video to jailbreak it (very simple and straight forward) this will enable you download streaming apps on it. Then find a vendor to load channels. You might need VPN to improve streaming quality and to change location for obvious reasons cry

An advantage of the firestick is that u can detach from tv and take with u when u are going away from home . Otherwise the smart iptv app too is fine.

There is a portal created for parents for information and payment like this.

sweetoma:
Lol, okay that’s great. Thanks so much for the info. The 2 pounds 50 per day do you drop it as school each day you drop them off. Or is it something you can pay for in bulk ?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by harwe: 4:18pm On Feb 20, 2022
Public transport ooo but if you have a car its always around 5-15 minutes drive thats schools within your post codes. There is also no school bus...They know how they get the funds back sha...You should also prepare for feeding for the kids its around 2Pounds 50 per day which makes more sense than you preparing a healthy food for the kids....They dont want just rice oo or pasta lol

sweetoma:
Thank you for the response, they have gotten back to me, most of our preferred schools are full tho. I’m considering a school that’s about 2.6miles away. How do you go back and forth for the kid going to a further school? Public transport? Or is there school bus ?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by harwe: 12:23pm On Feb 20, 2022
For the school i think the council will get back to you on it asap you need not call...though I called my kids most preferred school to ask if they have space in their age grade but unfortunately they have for one and the younger boy had to go to another school within our post code though its a distance. Yes you will buy uniforms and and all other school accessories.

sweetoma:
Hello House, I finally land on this thread. Praise God and everyone who gave invaluable advise on the study visa thread. We arrived 2 weeks ago but I have been busy searching for accommodation etc and settling in. I have contacted the council about school and chosen 4 schools for my son. I did everything via email and phone call. Do I need to do anything else ? And will I be required to pay any fees for uniforms etc ? In addition do I need to visit the actual schools or just wait to hear back from the council ? Finally I am studying business analytics, so we are learning the basics of R and data visualization, I’m also learning python and SQL on my own so I can position to apply for data analyst roles in addition to business analyst roles. Can any one give advise on how to get graduate tier 2 sponsorship jobs in these (tech/business) fields. Also when should I start applying. In addition, hubby is has a BSc in accounting and Masters in Marketing. What are his possible job prospects for tier 2 sponsorship? Please any and every advise will be appreciated. Also we’d like introduction to the Nigerian community in Bournemouth. Thanks once again
