Enjoyed the discuss on Travelling to Ghana by road here.

Interesting and educative.

Planning to travel to Accra, Ghana for a Program soon.

Will be delighted to have updated information (as of now) on:

1. What I need to get ready to travel by road and recommended Transporter

2. What hotel is recommended and affordable, neat and near or around Ghana national museum (bed and breakfast budget of N5k to N7k daily)

3. Current exchange rate of Naira to Ghana and best place to change the cash

4. Average Taxi rate

5. Recommended food and places to visit to make a 5 days stay enjoyable

6. Security details to pay attention to

7. Any other relevant information for an interesting cross countries trip.

Thank you.

cc: lalasticlala and Travel mods (please help push this to FP for benefit of others)

Another Answers smiley -

1. You'll Need your Travel Documents e.g Passport and yellow vaccination card. if none, then have at least your I.D Card.

2. Hotels options are plentiful near the museum .. try google 'Paloma Hotel Spintex' if its expensive... then am sure you would surel get cheaper options around.

3. (One) 1 Ghanaian Cedi equals
82.91 Nigerian Naira (you can google that). Change cash at Aflao border if possible.. or right from Nigeria (at probably car park) Change with Hausas only pls (experience*).

4. Taxi costs Between Gh5 to Gh10 ( including Uber Taxis).

5. Almost all main Restaurants in the city centre are cool. Then the food depends on your choice. varieties from Kenke to Waakye to Desserts to Swallows back.. Depends on type of restaurants. Walk down the Streets of the Castle Ridge. Visit the Independence Square and Take Pictures there (Its a Must!).

6. Don not go near Ghettos.. any dirty place in Accra is no go area. And never near dark places t night. Accra is well Illuminated at night so follow Lights as Light is Life.

7. Smile always.. Do not try taking photos at borders. (if you go by air then make sure you book morning fight and its itenaries).
*You may also consider not showing your passport at all at Aflao border.. especialy when you are going in (5-10 cedis is enough for the 'stress' Nigerian Passport pass trough at that border').

P.S : Chairman Pack your Bag, You are Good to Go !

I am planning to go for a 3-day vacation in La Del Papa in Benin Republic. For those who know about this place should please advise. I am going there with my family of 5. So I don't want stories.

1. Can I drive to Cotonou and what is required? Any special papers required?
2. Must we all have a NIGERIA passport before we can be allowed in?
3. How is this resort? Any negative view?

Please help your brother.

Answers:

1. Yes you can drive (have all car papers and co. + Documents at border at seme). You can as well chatter a car at the border to that Resort. To avoid unneccessary stress.

2. If you all have Passport, No Problem. But at least have I.D Card and make sure your children have birth certificates.

3. I swear that Resort is A Paradise of Beauty. Its not in the city of Cotonou. The Papa del Casa Resort is in the city of Ouidah (just 1:30 minutes drive from cotonou and about 2hr drive from Nigerian Border).

PS: Try Google this 'Cassie Daves Cotonou Trip' on Google. Then You'll be wowed like is this in Africa!

Have I Helped a Brother ?

Are you a French consular? A message from the VFS company does not mean that applicants visa have been approved, its only for you to know that the embassy have returned your package to them.

I have intention of relocating from Nigeria to Abidjan,
I'm a sailor (Able Seaman with over five years working experience onboard seagoing vessels) and I also have HND in Mass Communication.

Please whats the possibility of me getting sea work in Abidjan?

Please someone should reply me.

Okay. If you are determined, you go and learn basic french.. enroll for maybe 3-6 months intensive or basic course.. then trust me you are better off other ivorian sea men or whosoever.

And if you cant for one way or the other learn french, then You can look for a private shipping company that recruits people like you (that speaks english over there).

Now my Question is dint you get one by applying or through online already.. Cos i dont think seamen use to lack job seriosly... especialy experienced ones. lets talk more. my signature = my whatsapp.

Goodday.

Travel / Re: UNTOLD Story About Dubai With PHOTOS - Dubai Is Not As Rich As UAE Govt. Portray by Harzontorh: 11:55am On Jul 14, 2017
No.. You are getting it wrong! Dubai is an extremely Rich Emirate among the 7 Emirates of UAE. No matter how rich a place is, especially a tourist densed area, there would be a suburb for the extremely low income expat who forced and struggle their life to live in.. call it slum or say 'the ghetto area', same thing in Paris, Berlin, Tokyo or what have you.. Now Dubai for example is Rich, no doubt. Extraordinarily Rich.. Our Nigerian People are plenty over there so we know whatsup. You dont excpect everybody to go there and make it.. so because you go there and suffer the hell out of you life (which may not have happened to you while you sit 'jeje' in Nigeria) doest mean some are not enjoying the bastard money there.. The Problem is that the sufferness and the pain We the 'incompetent' or say unqualified live there is intolerable so we 'think' the whole luxury hyping is maybe an exhageration.. Hell, No. The Multi Billion Dollar Oil Nation is Real. Just that some Indians, Bangladeshi and Philipinos will not Stop Messing Up things around.. They keep displaying Bad Image in conjuction with our Naija Boys (who are 'ogbologbo' in displaying Poverty Culture..

En Plus, You will never see an Emirati 'A UAE Arab ' in such a way of life butrayed in those pictures.. i.e queieng for the public toilet, barbing beside the wastebin or smotching around demonstrating poverty.. Never.. Instead the Emiratis are there 'rubbing their faces with bundles of dollar, Dinars and Dirhams'.

P.S: Dubai is Built Specialy for Luxury.. The Poor are also there too. (no be lie). but the poor people are the Expats (foreign workers) not The People.
