Certainly getting worse. |
It is important to keep the PHCN staff on their toes and also ensure that the searchlight is continually beamed on them. This would enable them maintain good power supply to the public and also keep their bosses in Abuja informed of their activities. It seems they are out to impoverish the masses again! For the past week in Iponri, Lagos, the power supply to the area has dropped significantly. Yesterday - 10/10/12, the light came on for about 20minutes and has since not be restored. |
We've read this already! Doesn't seem to matter much in my view. Seems there is a campaign going on to discredit him cos he was one of the leading reps that called for impeachment of GEJ. You see if this revelation had been prior to the impeachment threat on GEJ, then it would have been of interest to most of us but now I think you really should give it up. It's having zero effect on most Nigerians!!! |
Would there be accompanying appropriate signage and not the silly hidden signs that the Local government councils create in order to entrap unsuspecting drivers. For anyone to have to pay as much as N50K, then there must be the requirement of well defined and legible road signs as well as proof e.g pictures, CCTV footage of the contravention. It would simply be unfair to rely on the claims of the traffic officer alone. In addition, there must be a compulsory right of appeal to an independent authority. |

@MOD This deserves to be on the front page. |
I was travelling down what I thought should be a highly valued road - Ewekoro to Shagamu in Ogun state(not more than about 20 to 25km stretch) and it took about an hour and a half to ply the route. I had to take pictures after driving down the rough road for a while and noticing the big trucks travelling up and down. In a space of about 10 to 15 mins after I decided to do a survey, I must have counted about 30 trucks and so it seemed inconceivable to me why this sort of road would be in such dire state. At the Ewekoro end was a massive cement factory - Lafarge, about 15km down the road was the Olorunsogo Power plant and at the Shagamu end was Nestle factory. Considering all the big factories providing gainful employment for lots of people in the state, it begs the question why neither the Federal government nor the Ogun state Gov - Ibikunle Amosun have not deemed it fit to fix the road. My trip down the road lasted well over an hour which should normally not take me more than 12 to 15 minutes (based on my 20-25km estimate) if driving at 100km/h. The area is surrounded by cement and granite which is the base required to build a durable road. The cost to the govt must be reasonably lower compared with other areas. The additional time it takes has negative economic, health, financial etc implications. It simply criminal to neglect this road. The govt needs to get on with that which they have been apprehended for and fix the road? ![]() https://solarrate.com/images/2012-04-22_14-20-03_908.jpg https://solarrate.com/images/2012-04-22_14-20-13_377.jpg https://solarrate.com/images/2012-04-22_14-21-57_906.jpg https://solarrate.com/images/2012-04-22_14-27-50_799.jpg https://solarrate.com/images/2012-04-22_14-37-56_852.jpg https://solarrate.com/images/2012-04-22_14-37-48_109.jpg https://solarrate.com/images/2012-04-22_14-39-12_75.jpg |
What do you need the money for? Have you got a business plan of some sort? |
noblezone:Nice work!!! Did exactly the same calculation in my head but used the minimum wage of N5000 since the current one hasn't been implemented. 17,000 X 5000 = N80,000,000.00 N80 million every single month into private pockets. N960 million annually. Crazy People. ![]() |
Nice to hear about Benue. Well, I was there for about 5 years and I can categorically tell you that not only are they not northerners (i.e Hausas or Fulanis), they DETEST being referred to as such. They would usually let you know that they are from the Middle Belt. I was there when there were three major tribes in the state - Tiv (pronounced TeeVee), Igalas & Idomas. The wonderful attraction for me was the extremely rare sea mammal - Manatee. An endangered specie which at the time was rumored to be only two in captivity in the entire world. One of them was at the Makurdi Zoo. I was always chuffed to see it. I only wonder what has become of this rare mammal. It would be nice if someone could confirm if it still exists. I certainly would recommend NLanders to go see it. I don't think a lot of people can boast of having seen one. Nigeria does have some tourism treasure that they are unaware of. Must add that they've also got the best ever Yams in the whole entire world. Never seen so much food, cheap and so abundantly available. Enough waffling. Enjoy Benue!!! |
dmainboss: Are you alleging that he is? Do you have Nigerians know that he is a thorn in the flesh of these corrupt Judicial officers, hence the reason for the numerous committees set up to review committees that were set up to further review decisions reached by various comittees. Trying to work to a known answer. A bit like the scandalous way that appeal judges have recently being delivering judgement and giving reasons later (after the statutory time frame). Ridiculous!!! |
We all know Nigerian Judges are Corrupt. Why else is Justice Ayo Salami being persecuted? All Nigerians expect him to have being reinstated as the President of Court of Appeal except the corrupt NJC members. |

I noted with disgust that the Suspected Terrorist Sponsor - Ali Ndume was at the National Assembly during plenary yesterday (Caught on AIT camera). He was arraigned in court over terrorist activities and masterminding/funding the terrorist group Boko Haram, yet he has been released. Does this mean that murder suspects can now be granted bail or does this imply that he has been acquitted. The murder of various innocent citizens will not be in vain. Nigerians should rise up and resist this. It would appear as though Ali Ndume's sympathisers have dominanted the ruling class and these are the people that President Jonathan seems to be referring to when he declared that his adminstration has been infiltrated by Boko Haram members. ALI NDUME MUST RETURN TO JAIL. |
You have to give kudos to these our legal luminaries, they always find a way out of any law, directive etc . Just when we thought these people would finally be prosecuted and all these protracted trials would eventually come to an end, they find a way round it. |

Should we also blame the system for returning NDLEA to the ports to further extort money from businesses trying to survive in an already unbearable environment when the head of your economic team ejected them? |
Pukkah:Ringim was given an award because he earned it. It was a National Dishonour Award. If the prefix DIS was missed out, don't be offended, these things happen in Naija. As you must have heard, there weren't even enough medals for the awardees on the day. |

@Beaf Pls zip it! You have lost all credibility on this forum. How can you keep trying to spin your inept govt out of their inexplicable attitude to their own people? Have some conscience. |
The FBI, CIA and other UN investigators seem to be getting valuable information from these Boko chaps and this is OBJ's way of trying to warm his way into their hearts and trying to stop them talking. Politicians, we know your tricks. YOU ARE ALL GOING DOWN!!! |
Jeboy:It is apt that the people criticise the govt about these non-ending massive railway projects that are forever being planned. It is a known fact that railway gulps huge sums of money and the way to extract sizeable funds from the country's coffers is to come up these non-specifics. Railway rehabilitation is no child's play and requires upwards of 10 to 20years of planning to construct. So when a minister comes and starts talking about planning, he simply isn't serious about doing anything and in my view is out to enrich himself. I'm sure there must be thousands of plans available for him to work with. I remember scrolling through the internet and coming across a 25year plan made by the former Minister for Transport (Ojo Madueke). Why is that not being referred to and used? Please stop this lousy propaganda! |
, 5. (C) Huffing, President Obasanjo then added that Delta State (Governor Ibori) and Edo State (Governor Igbinedion) were "the worst." , In a dismissive response to a reference to AG Ige's and Chief Judge Belgore's statements that such a court could be created (Ref A), an animated Obasanjo said "Belgore is the most corrupt judge in Nigeria. I will have to be very careful when I replace him in July." http://wikileaks.org/cable/2001/07/01ABUJA1547.html |
Utter nonsense! |
Giving his impressions on the recent murder of Funsho Williams, Governor Tinubu contended the murder was undoubtedly political. Although he offered no evidence except his knowledge of the political ambitions of the key players, Tinubu firmly believed PDP National Vice Chairman(South) Olabode (Bode) George masterminded Williams' murder. Tinubu elaborated that George, a very brusque and aggressive man, had made many enemies among his fellow Yoruba. George knew many people were counting the days to seek retribution against him for the many dirty tricks he played as the PDP's point man in the Southwest. Tinubu claimed George, aware that he was unliked, recognized the need for protection once President Obasanjo left office. Consequently, George was now trying to position himself to take the PDP nomination for Lagos State Governor so that he could enjoy the power and immunity attached to that office. However, to realize this objective, several obstacles would have to be moved aside, asserted Tinubu. Williams and the other PDP hopefuls were the main obstacles. The allegation that international traders Otedola is probably right in suggesting that long-standing sweetheart deals between the NNPC and a variety of fuel traders is keeping the system inefficient. That may also explain why the GON just can't seem to get its refineries running even after spending a billion dollars or more on maintenance contracts over the last four years. Otedola said he initially bid to purchase the Port Harcourt refinery offered for privatization, but he recently told President Obasanjo he will not invest in the refinery so long as NNPC purchases fuel from traders instead of negotiating directly with refineries in other countries and leasing ships itself to deliver fuel to Nigeria. It is not clear if Otedola's assumption that the international traders' stake in Nigeria's current fuel market is the main driver behind the country's refinery woes. But it is clear that the fundamentals of infrastructure security, interim supply stability, and transactional transparency must still be addressed if the GON is to be taken seriously about its efforts to deregulate and largely privatize Nigeria's downstream petroleum sector. http://wikileaks.org/cable/2004/04/04LAGOS767.html An insight to the real reason our refineries will never work and the common man wallowing in incessant hardship. |
