Jokes apart, this is a dangerous precedent, because you are setting an example for the real terrorists in Nigeria. People don't realize that evil elements are watching events unfold and learning new tactics. Southsouth militants started this kidnapping thing, but today killer fulani herdsmen have taken over the trade in an unprecedented dimension, kidnapping anyone, poor, rich, old, young, male, female, civilians, government workers etc. I read on Nairaland last week of a pastor in Kaduna that was kidnapped inside his home, the kidnappers went to his home, can you see how this evil thing has grown? If only the Niger Delta militants knew fulani herdsmen were taking lessons from them, and now the student has become the master. Same way this IPOB attack politicians on foreign soil, they should stop this behavior now before people like Boko Haram starts getting ideas from it. It will be terrible if people like Boko Haram latch on this idea and start their terror campaign overseas because they might make it into something else and not just attack politicians alone, they might attack prominent citizens too, or Christians. So IPOB should stop this rubbish now. They should not start a fire they cannot control.
Na mumu dey worry you ! Simple egg throwing, and your imagination is already going extremist; it's either you are a boko haram member or you are one of those in government that are destroying Nigeria. Who is happy to be a citizen of a country that doesn't want to develop? Those who are making it difficult for development to take place must be treated. And note that every citizen of Nigeria either rich or poor is equal before the law and before God,so there is no such thing as prominent citizens when you want to reset this evil Nigerian system. I think politicians and corrupt sympathizers like you are beginning to get the message.

Wiseman, it seems you know a lot of better ways ? Why don't you advice them of such better ways instead of sympathising with treacherous politicians. If these politicians were doing their jobs, these young Igbos wouldn't have had need for Europe. Ekweremadu and his likes were elected to better the lots of their people, but alas they are failing in this statutory responsibility, and most sadly lack the emotional intelligence to appreciate the present mood of their people. I am very glad he experienced no bodily injury, but he got the message. Political diplomacy is not understood by our political class.

I am so hurt seeing the photos of my friend Chikwado Ezeakunne among those who attacked Ekweremadu today. Ekweremadu may not be our best politician but he is definitely not the worst. If they were looking for a politician of southeast origin to attack, Rochas or orji Kalu would had been more appropriate or even Baba Ruga himself, if they have the balls. Now I'm scared Chikwado won't dare step his foot in this country for a long time to come for fear of being picked by DSS. I leave Chikwado my friend with this last words "since you arent coming home, who is going to buy me beer this xmas"
Stupid man ! The person whose name you have just mentioned is not your friend; if he were your friend, you would have called him on phone to express your disgust at his action, and not making attempt to set him up via mass media. You are just an enemy ! I hope you are not planning to set up an innocent man.

PoliticsRe: We're Well Prepared To Defend Ourselves– Herdsmen Vow Not To Relocate From South by hatu: 1:23am On Jul 21, 2019
myobjective:
I was having this debate with one of my supposed educated fulani friend this evening. He quickly raised the issue of cattle grazing route, he said and I quote " there was cattle route put in place by the colonial masters to allow the movement of herdsmen to move from the north to the south and all across west Africa during dry season but due to population explosion, most of the route has been taking over by farmers ". I quickly pick out flaws in his arguement.

To begin with, cattle route were not created by colonial master, what we have in place was an unofficial route ply by herdsmen during dry season from far north and southern Niger republic to northern Guinea savanna in places like southern Kaduna, Niger, taraba, adamawa and northern Cameroon. Later, the northern colonial government now made all these route to official hence all the cattle route are in Northern Nigeria.

Secondly, most of the communities where these routes passes especially those in middle belt, were not made aware of these routes, compensation were not paid to the indigenous people in these area, hence no legal backing to the route
I addition to what you have just said, the colonial administration was a rogue government, and even if they approved a grazing route, it must have been for all aboriginal herders who had interest in moving cattles across the African subcontinent including the Fulanis, kanuris, tivs and others; and that for Fulanis who are as foreign to Nigeria as the British to be making claims to such route is a no-brainer. Additionally thinking nations have moved away from such practice with its various implicit public health hazards.

cronsberg:
Accepted, no ruga settlement in your village, was anybody forcing it down your throat before? What we have problem with is you southerners trying to deny fellow citizens their constitutional right of freedom of movement and freedom to settle anywhere they want. And your elders threatening to form militias to attack them, and labelling them guilty of all manner of crime even without evidence, just because they are fulani while no one denied you those same rights you are trying to deny others. Thats why we are telling u that the fulani are very capable of defending themselves. Btw, since no ruga, then they continue herding as they are used to, in the bushes and forests of this great country.
Na mumu dey worry you ! You are boasting how your funlani tribesmen killed and extinguished lives out of those you call your northern brothers from taraba,Adamawa and co. You see, it is very difficult for your Fulani herdsmen to peacefully co-habit with their hosts even in your northern region; the same northerners your Fulani herdsmen are killing are the same people you are thinking of mobilizing against southerners peacefully doing business in the North. Even with guns, fulanis are a weak people who normally trick themselves into power, and note that the Fulani population is reducing globally as a result of their self-defeating behaviour. The Fulanis are now being discovered as the earthworm that is eating up Nigeria. A dog that is about to die does not perceive the odour of faeces . Note: the colonial masters as they are called was a rogue government, and the aboriginal settlements they met when came into this part of Africa have not shifted from their natural boundaries since then, and non of these ethnicities answer a compound name like the Fulani who smuggled themselves into Nigeria and started answering a hausa-fulani(compound name),by leeching onto their aboriginal hausa host; with an unbridled appetite for land-grabbing the Fulanis have almost displaced the unambitious Hausa race; and if you are not careful, the much you gained in the north, you shall lose,Mark my word !! Because I am beginning to have a feeling that the Fulani is a coursed tribe. If you are among those that will survive, you will live to regret ever embarking on this project of self annihilation.

this is exactly what the hutus said about the Tutsi in Rwanda in 94. Suspicion and hate resulted to the problem they had.
Why is ethnicity still a primitive problem is Africa .....you even added the kanuris that have only a presence in Borno and Yobe alone. Is the sultan of sokoto not already the religious head of all Muslims in Nigeria......
Okay, let the Fulani herdsmen rape and kill your sister and mother; or the Boko Haram Kanuris forcefully marry and convert your sisters to Muslim like they did to the Chibok and dapchi girls; let me see what your reaction will be. Have you ever heard that the Tivs or the Idomas went to sokoto to kill and slaughter community of Fulanis? Or you think Fulani settlements are not known? But you can't say that about the Fulanis who have weaponized the herdsmen, thus using them for ethnic cleansing of aboriginal Nigerians.
Christianity EtcRe: Kukah Warns Against ‘anti-fulani’ Campaign by hatu:
Those who plan evil for others must be consumed by evil. Look at this chameleon called Kuka, who has not had this same courage in condemning the killings in middle belt or any other places for that matter,by these murderous Fulani herdsmen. For all I care if Kuka likes let him become a Muslim, I don't care. An important point of note is that Fulanis are not Nigerians, they don't care about it's development ,and they don't see aboriginal Nigerians as their brothers, but rather as tools to be used to harken onto power. Just look at what they did to the Hausa tribe? The used the hausas as primer to penetrate the Nigerian system, and thus started answering Hausa-Fulani; the only ethnic group with a compound name. A strategy they used to annihilate the Hausa tribe, thus coming into prominence with their sultanate and emirates. I just heard they want to delineate Fulani as one of Nigerian languages through the federal government pioneered Fulani radio, thus pushing harder the Fulanization agenda which already come to fore.

In the quest to fulanize, the Fulani herdsmen have killed more Nigerians than Boko Haram. From analysis, this sinister plan to overrun Nigerian was planned and being executed by the Kanuris(Boko Harams)and Fulanis, the plan being that the Kanuri takes over the Northeast Nigeria, under the Shehu of Boronu, while the Fulanis should take over any territory they can gather from northwest down southern Nigeria using the instruments of herdsmen, bandits and Ruga settlements,to fulanize through ethnic cleaning of aboriginal settlements;all geared towards bringing these Fulanized section of the country under the Sokoto Sultanate. So what do you do to a group of people under such sinister mission ? Let every community defend itself, kill those who have come to rape/kill your wives, daughters and Children. Have no sympathy for these Murderous Fulanis, for they know no mercy. They tried and failed in the small Central African Republic, let all aboriginal Nigerians ensure that the Fulanis also fail without mercy in Nigeria, since they have decided to turn around and kill those who have given them aboard .

festacman:
1. Those people expressing concern about using public money to settle the itinerant Fulani herders in order to stop clashes with farmers should remember late President Yar'adua's Amnest programme that also utilized billions of public money in order to compensate the Niger Delta militants and stop armed unrest.

2. However, in implementation, Rural Grazing Area (RUGA) should be restricted to Northern Nigeria. The reason is simple: Nigeria Fulani folks have always lived and operated up North with Hausa as neighbours. In fact, Hausa language, intermarriage and Islam have made this relationship smoother over the years. So it is natural to set up the 80% of thevproposed Rural Grazing Area (RUGA) in the core North and may be 20% in friendly Northcentral zone. Other parts of Nigeria should take the ranching option or engage in pasture production business especially during rainy season and then sell harvested grass to herders up north.

3. Obviously, the critical issues with creating Rural Grazing Area (RUGA) settlements is how to manage in the short term, the relationship between settled Fulanis and the locals in terms of respect for culture and values of host communities. Then in the long term, how to manage the relationship vis-à-vis capturing future growth of both the fulani population and that of the host communities.

4. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture should transparently make public the official policy document on Rural Grazing Area (RUGA) programme as this would help Nigerians to fully understand
- its objectives
- how it will operate in detail
- how it will solve the existing problems
- antipated challenges the settlement would create and how it will be solved
- benefits to stakeholders, business and employment opportunities it offers, etc.

5. Moreover, communications sorrounding Rural Grazing Area (RUGA) need to be professionally done for clarity and effectivess. Unfortunately, at the moment the message has poorly articulated and carelessly relayed to the public. Even the communicators themselves have become a big source of noise in the communication channel. This is NOT helping the already existing mutual inter-ethnic suspicion and mistrust.

6. I also believe that setting up a multi-ethnic implementation committee would help the national acceptance of this strategic intervention to stop herders/farmers clash over land resources.
Why are you trying very hard to give/coin a meaning for RUGA. Rural grazing area my foot ! Cattle economy of Nigeria.

Study Finds that Yorubas Are Genetically 99.9% Igbo

Four of the major coastal ethnic groups of Western Africa: the Yoruba, Igbo, Akan and the Gaa-Adangbe are dissimilar at a glance and evidently geographic neighbours, but very closely related, when examined at the genetic level.

Several studies have been employed over the years, with findings showing genetic similarity between differing regional ethnic groups. One in particular, conducted by Adebowale Adeyemo, Guanjie Chen, Yuanxiu Chen, the National Human Genome Centre and Howard University, and Charles Rotimi of the University of Ibadan, provided results indicating the genetic similarities between the four major West African ethnic groups.

Their findings further showed surprising genetic variance within groups, but almost none across groups, similar to the closeness of human genetics across races, showing more range within than without.

According to this landmark study, there was a 99.9 percent within-population variance, the between-population variance was less than 0.1 percent. This means that Yorubas, Igbos, Gaa and Akan are 99.9 percent similar, while within each of the groups there are variations/differences between individuals as high as 99 percent i.e. One Igbo may be 99 percent genetically different from another Igbo person, or one Yoruba person to another.

It is important to remember that these groups were not initially split by national borders; prior to the European division of the continent, these ethnic peoples traded, migrated and wedded as the times permitted, allowing apparent regional and national mixtures that remain evident in modern day genetic analyses of some Yoruba and Igbo individuals….

Also worthy of note is the shared Volta-Niger root languages, Yoruba and Igbo languages belong to the same family (YEAI branch), showing the common start of the diverse languages spoken by these ethnicities.

Consequently, barring the inclusion of culture, ethnic affiliation and nationality, it could be said that the the Yorubas, the Igbos, the Akans and the Gaa-Adangbes are but ONE people spread over a wide area with different ways of life. Thus, discrediting any claim of a unique Yoruba “race” or a genetically insured Igbo ethnicity often employed by politicians and traditional rulers in rhetorics and propaganda messages.

A body does not fight itself. These kinds of research serve as a balm to the much divided heart of the ethnically-concerned West African, and to the African at large: one root, many branches; united by blood if not spirit.

Smuggling is all about buying cheap and selling high. Yes Dangote would want ban on the importation of all the items he manufactures,so that he can sell at any price within the Nigerian market ,thus killing consumers. How many of Dangote's products are exported to Benin Republic? Sure non, because the cost of his products are not competitive, he just survives under government protection and ripping off Nigerian consumers.
