ASUU's demands
(FASANMI Kayode, Business Area, Lagere, Ile Ife, Osun State);
In this country, lecturing remains one of the most lucrative jobs, aside from the fact that most lecturers teach in other schools, thereby neglecting their duty in their main institution.
I cant remember the last time a Nigerian professor carried out a succesful research. The constant clamour for wage increment & 70 years retirement age for professors lack moral justification & reflection of greed & insensitivity to the plight of the younger generation.
I cannot understand the justification for 70 years retirement, when even at 65 years, many of them are managing one health condition or another.
Yet, we are crying about unemployment among qualified unemployed youths in the country.
When last did ASUU members truly embark on a strike due to the poor infrastructure in the universities, poor funding among others?
Instead, they will rather use that as a cover-up to gain public sympathy to actualize their unending demand for more pay.
Once the demand for salary is met, they forget other issues. Yet, these are the same people that enjoyed free education & scholarships during the early days of the nation.
The zeal with which lecturers fight for their selfish interest, if that same zeal is used to pursue the development of the education sector, i'm sure by now our institutions would be competing with the best in the world.
This unfortunately is not the case because of incessant strike by the lecturers. The cumulative effect of all this is that Nigerian universities yearly produce half-baked & unemployable graduates.

UI might lack evri oda tin...Sport, Social Life..But Academics..uhn..u willfear..Lemme give u an example..60percentof d lecturers of ma friends in Oau Unilag Unilorin and oda unis are with titles 'Mr' 'Mrs'...Since I don enta UI, No one wit d title Mr Mrs don teach me..Just DRs and Profs alone.. And I get Minimum of 2 andMaximum of 6 Lecturers for just a course.

D Uni with over 250profs....highest in Africa..and Drs come yapa...
Guy Chop up or beta stop d Beef.. UI is d First and D Best in Nigeria..but to be candid oda UNIs re trying oh ..
There was a tym student protested in UI, ZikHall Warden Dr Ajewole told us dat..Do we knw oda unis in Nigeria can protest and nothing will happen..Just Local channels wil broadcast it..But If UI sud go into a brutal protest den it can nap Headline on CNN and international papers.

Unibadan The Founthead.
I was once a beefer of Unibadan..Coz I Neva Imagine I could be a UITE..Butnow they i mistakenly find masef as a student of d premier uni..I know I was just BIAS.coz I now see d Diffs and Uniqueness
