With one year PGCert or PGDip, can one get 3 years work permit after graduation? If not, how many years is one entitled to? |

Okay Lekiboboe: You are welcome Chief.
Hmmm, based on the above response, i seriously doubt if the bolded is possible.
To Get the admission sef would likely be impossible cos the Admission committee of the school he wants to apply to for the Business Management program would be expecting the academic transcript of an applicant who has a Business degree, which would show that he has done business related courses as an Undergraduate. or Someone with a non-business degree but has Work Experience in Business Management. Such person would be expected to show his nonbusiness Transcript, his Canadian Style résumé indicating that he has work experience in Business Management or business related field and also a Cover Letter for admission indicating that he/she would be a best fit for the business management program despite having a nonbusiness degree but with a Business Management work experience.
Even if the admission falls through (luckily), if he applies for a STUDY VISA with such admission (LOA), he would likely not be able to convince a Visa Officer about his purpose of Visit to Canada (To study), cos the Study Visa Application of a Graduate of Biochemistry with no work experience in Business Management and wants to go for a PG. Cert in Business Management in Canada would be very open to scrutiny, and this scrutiny by a Visa officer can lead to serious red flags on that kind of Visa Application.
In his best interest and to play safe, he should go for a Biochemistry Related program PG. Cert program that would a good Academic and Career Progression for him.

Thanks for the awesome feedback - He is a fresh graduate - No NYSC - Graduated 2020 - No work experience in Business Management - That’s his field of interest, he wants to build his career in that line. Lekiboboe: Hi Honorable,
First of all, I.T. cannot really be categorized as work experience, cos I.T is a training, and I.T students are not usually paid, or they don't have a documented payment (I STAND TO BE CORRECTED)
If he has done NYSC, his 1-year service year can be categorized as a Work Experience cos Corp members are paid monthly by the Federal Govt. and their payments are documented.
Your Friend can't do a Masters with a 2.2, his chances are very slim as Canada requires a 2.1, most esp. a strong percentage (75% upward) in the last two years of the applicant as an Undergraduate e.g 400L & 500L.
Your Response to the questions below would/might determine the type of program your friend would/should go for
- Is your friend a Fresh Graduate? - Has he done NYSC? If yes, what is the name of his Job at his PPA & what were his job duties? - What year did he graduate? - Why Business Management? - Does he have Work Experience in Business Management? |

*Educational Background* Undergraduate: BTech Biochemistry Result: 2:2 Work Experience: 6 months IT experience in a research lab He is looking to apply for a program in Business and Management in Canada
- Can he get into a Master’s program with 2:2? - Should he opt for PGDiploma or PGCertificate, if so which one has better job prospects in Canada after graduation? - With a PGDiploma or PGCertificate, can he get a PR and work permit after graduation? - Any other insight is welcome |

Thanks tunddy: I also have an interview tomorrow morning....they are not the same bro, your confirmation page is that form you print after you complete filling your ds160 form, after that your final appointment confirmation letter will be sent to you... Note they are two different things....your confirmation page carries your picture why your appointment letter does not carry your picture |

When did you schedule and which week in Feb did you get? zed7: Scheduled a date in Feb. My family has been to the US some years ago, however we have a 2 year old who wasn't born then and he applied with us. However, we all opted for the interview but some people said we should have done drop box while only the new kid applies for the interview. Is it a problem? Just wondering. |

It shows next available date is March 22, I want to book this. But would likely change to an earlier date (Feb) if it shows up |

If you are applying for a relative who you will sponsor her trip and you intend to use your own income/account info on the DS-160, how do I do this? It says I should add the income of the person, and not mine. The person is elderly and not even well paid, I will be taking care of the cost |

Lagos NIV, how does one skip the 'Spouse' information on the ds-160? A divorced/legally separated individual does not wish to include the spouse's information. |

My relative wants to visit the US this May, is it too early to apply now? 4 months ahead. I searched the website to see if there is a window period, just like we have the 120-day rule with student visa |

She also asked if an immigration lawyer is involved in the conversion? Thanks LagosismyHome: Not advisable....it was more stressful converting B1 to F1 within the US. Instead when she gets admission then , outside of the US (ie Nigeria) she should book and attend am F1 visa interview |

Okay. Thanks bigfrancis21: You or the person first need to generate the payment coupon from www.fmjfee.com which you would need for the payment. Depending on how urgent the person needs it, you can either pay instantly at WU (costs $10 extra for a total of $210) or by mail (include a personal check or buy a money order of $200 together with the generated payment coupon) to SEVP (address is on the coupon). If using mail, ensure that you add tracking (certified mail option at USPS). |

Sure. Thanks LagosNIV: Hello Havre -
What you are considering is technically possible, though difficult. You will need to be accepted to a J1 program and then apply for a J1 visa, which can only be done at a US Embassy or Consulate outside the US. For more information about J1 visas please review https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/study-exchange/exchange.html I hope this helps.

Thank you for the feedback. I understand that part and I do not want to remain illegally in the US. I am asking the possibility of switching to a J1 and do an internship at least to stay engaged and gain something before next fall. Getting a job or internship in Nig isnt easy, I dont want to waste 6 months doing nothing. Please let me know what the rules are in this instance. F1 - J1 and back to F1 in August. abujaniv: If you are not enrolled in school, you can not remain in the US on a student visa. It doesn't matter what expiration date is printed on your visa. If you remain in the US when not enrolled or if your school has halted your SEVIS status, you can accrue illegal presence. This can lead to deportation and travel bans. |
