Investment / Re: The Much Needed Prepaid Electricity Meters Now Sell For N60,000- Punch Newspaper by Haywirezzz: 6:22am On Mar 10, 2015
agabusta:
We don suffer for this country. These electricity distribution companies are scamming us big time.

They take a senseless fixed charge from millions of customers which translates into billions every month. Steady billions even before their normal charges.

And despite these free billions they rake in every month, they have refused to install pre-paid metres for a good majority of their customers.

Especially those living in areas that are not high brow. These people are milking the average Nigerian dry and the light made available is still a pathetic one.

Sincerely Nigeria, we need to open up the petroleum and the electricity distribution industries to serious scrutiny. Massive corruption that has crippled this country is going on in these two sectors.

The one of electricity is even worse because they are even still extorting the little the masses depend on without even providing the power.

It is no propaganda to say the economy has been badly managed under GEJ. It is a fact!

All the regulatory agencies meant to protect the interest of the public like the NERC (electricity), DPR (petroleum), EFCC & ICPC (financial and fraud), SON (standards), CBN (banks and economy), NBC (media, multichoice just dey misbahve as they like, and nothing dey happen), NCC (telecoms- these one are arrogant thieves), FMEnv (Environment) among other regulatory agencies have not been visible at all and are not performing optimally!

And the resultant effect is that the Nigerian people are subjected to all forms of fraudulent practises.

Soludo hit the nail on the head, when he asserted that the economy has been handed over to the people govt is supposed to actively regulate in order to protect the Nigerian people cum consumers.

I just hope they won't come and blame other people again for this their weak oversight.

#Never again will such a weak govt lead this country.

#Never again will such a bunch of excuse givers govern hardworking and intelligent people of Nigeria.

No need for further stories...

What successful stupid privatization in d power sector are these posters talking about? The Odoakpu area of Onitsha in Anambra state has been in darkness since mid December and some pple are celebrating d present govt's success in privatising d power sector. The present govt only sold its citizenry as slaves to Emeka Offor and co nationwide.I am an anambrarian but d money I ve spent on diesel to run my printing press for d past 3 months would always be a reminder on our need 4 change come february 14th.U pple can post all d pics u want but d pics I ve is that of darkness.

You just echoed my thoughts.it is obvious that the owners of the discos will be major campaign contributors to the PDP's presidential campaign. The minister's statement was an indirect way of assuring the cabal that they would recoup their campaign contributions from the already impoverished nigerians after the presidential elections. But will fellow nigerians be able to read btw d lines and see what awaits them if d present government continues beyond may 2015.Tarriff increase, complete withdrawal of d phantom subsidy on fuel etc will be PDP's thank u message to Nigerians if the present govt is re-elected.A word is enough for d discerning Nigerians.

The discerning nigerians know propaganda when they see it.It is quite unfair to label a man who exterminated d maitasine sect of d 80s a terriorist sponsor. I advise the op to engage more on issue based posts. We all ve a duty of ensuring that d coming elections are issue based rather than propaganda and character assasination based.Nigerians are getting wiser by the day.

I am happy that people are begining to ask the necessary questions about the supposed gains d south easterners have derived from d present government. The deplorable state of d Enugu-Onitsha and other federal roads in the south east were d focus of a thread that made front page few days ago. Op,I and a good number of young igbo men are with u on this. We can clearly see the dummy that is being sold to d south east cos election is around d corner and believe me when I tell u that a good number of young igbo men will not fall for these tricks. Not anymore. After 15 years in power, I'm not ready to give PDP the benefit of doubt, I will rather give the opposition such benefit.

I perfectly understand that all politicians are virtually the same, and that is the same reason I want to give the opposition the benefit of doubt in the next four years to achieve mainly two things:

Sprout competition, which brings enhanced performance, the PDP is too comfortable and therefore taking Nigerians for granted.

Secondly, bring about real democracy whereby a party knows that lack of performance will always earn it a red card from the people.

These are germane issues that PDP doesn't want Nigerians to understand.
Thank u for this thought provoking and insightful post. I agree in toto with u.

You should give the government the benefit of doubt. Metuh has brought the issue to the front burner. Let us wait for them to do the needful before reacting.

No point in jumping the gun.

All Nigerian politicians are cut in the same cloth. So don't allow anybody to pull wool over your eyes.
Brought issues to the front burner four months to elections. You ar actually the one trying to pull wool over pple eyes but your reasoning is so warped. I wonder what these non performing and corrupt politicians give to pple that make pple like u to throw away their sense of reason and shame d way u are doing on this thread. Suddenly, roads that weren't fixed in four years will now be fixed within three to four months. Let us wait for d government's magic like u said. The federal govt has no excuse for not fixing that road which is very vital to the socio-economic activities of d South east. When did road construction become rocket science? Is it not time for ndigbo to do a soul searching and ask themselves some questions? What have we really gained by supporting d present government through thick and thin? If the president can treat issues that affect d south east with such levity even when he knows he will need our votes for his second term, what then happens after he secures our votes, knowing fully well that he would be in his final term then? How long will it take to complete d second niger bridge if a road of about a 100km cannot be completed in 4 yrs? Simply put,the present government has failed ndigbo and has no moral right to expect their support like b4.

It is quite incredible that the very youths whose lives are being wasted are mostly the ones celebrating these unproductive activities of our politicians. The worst type of slavery is mental slavery.

The issue of power alone should be enough to vote against d incumbent. I don't know about other places but here in Onitsha,it has gone from bad to worse;notwithstanding d outrageous bills from EEDC and their reluctance to issue pre-paid meters to their customers. The immigration tragedy is also another sore point for d present administration.I am still surprised that no one has been sanctioned after d preventable death of about 26 young Nigerians. If Mr president is really serious with his statement that his ambition is not worth d life of a single nigerian,I then wonder y he has failed to sanction d pple who ar culpable in d loss of these young men and women. I still wonder where and where the 18hrs daily supply of electricity is experienced. I stay in Onitsha, anambra state and d power situation in d odoakpu area where one of our major printing firms is located has been pathetic for months now especially in august. And with d refusal of EEDC to supply prepaid meters to d residents,it has been exploitation galore with tales of sorrow from a good number of residents. What type of govt will allow its citizens to be exploitated by capitalists like Emeka Offor? Businesses ar crumbling while EEDC is smiling to d banks which is y it sounds so funny when some pple proclaim that D incumbent president has d unalloyed support of d south east. Time will tell.

The absence of these three personalties at yesterday's poll should be an eye opener to those who think these men support Jonathan/ PDP wholeheartedly. Babangida Aliyu's excuse 4 his inability to vote is quite comic. It is evident that it will be an uphill task 4 Jonathan to win d nothern votes in 2015.

why do u pple always want to fight, argue and abuse any time you read anything that LOOKS LIKE criticism to gej govt? You don't care if ur argument is sensible or not; you sha want to defend gej even if defending him makes you sound stupid.
What are you trying to insinuate now? That boko haram threat is not getting out of hands? That our military men are not poorly equipped to face them? That boko haram has not captured a section of nigeria? That boko haram is not capable of procuring war plane? Why are you seeing things from such a myopic angle? Is it because boko haram is still in the north and have not made serious incursion into the south and you therefore think the problem doesn't concern you? The person you quoted, what do you expect him to do? Is he in the military? Is he in charge of military financing and procurement? He only asked you to reason like a grown up and not like a child, but the ONLY meaning you could read in his comment is "war against gej"! You pple are now behaving like apc in the way you comment.
