MICHAEL FARADAY:Michael faraday was born to a blacksmith father,however he rose to become the the greatest british experimental physicist of all times. As regards faith, michael faraday was a christain,sandemenian to be precise. The sandemenians are an offshoot of the presbyterians, who did not agree with the way modern christainity was practised in then Britain.



MAX PLANCK:Planck is a house hold name in quantum physics. The famous Plancks constant (h) in atomic physics is named in his honour. He was a churchwarden till his death, and believed in an all knowing and beneficial God. According to him "both science and religeon wage a tireless war against skepticism and dogmatism, against unbelief and superstition.


GREGOR MENDEL:Mendel is a strong name in genetics and hence evolution. He was the first to lay down the mathematical foundations of genetics. Mendel began his research 3 years before Darwin published his controversial book: Origin of the species. Mendel was a catholic monk at st thomas monastry in austria, it was there he was given the name gregor



ISAAC NEWTON:This will take most nairalanders by suprise, as we believe hyper smart people are usually atheists right? Well, Newton was somewhat of a theologian, accordind to him,"God was essential to the nature and absoluteness of space", in his principa he stated: "The most beautiful system of planets, sun, comets, can only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent being"



ROBERT BOYLES:Who remembers Boyles law in chemistry?. Well the law wa named after genius chemist robert boyles. Boyles was a devout christain protestant who gave money to enable bible translations into irish and turkish. In his book:christain virtuoso he stated: that the study of nature is a central religeous duty.


BLAISE PASCAL:Pascal was a childhood prodigy, he started teaching himself geometry at the age of 12 and invented some of his own terminology at that age. Pascal did grounbreaking works in: physics (pascals law of pressure), probability theory, invented a calculator amongst others. Pascal was a catholic, amongst his theological works, the most profound were: Provinciales,and Pensees. On his death bed his last words were: MAY GOD NEVER ABANDON ME.

I don't encourage rape, but you can't use the same standard in judging a man to judge a woman, men are moved sexually by sight while women by touch, so even if the cutest guy goes bare chested, a lady will not entertain the thought of rape.

My sister na God go bless you. That's why I believe this gender equality issue might not really work in its strictest sense. Men and Women are innately governed by different rules. To most men, sex is sport that's why you hear : I had "fun" with her. To most women, africans especially, sex is a business card or a bargaining chip that's why you hear : I even "gave" him sex.


So to onila, its not that we support rape far from it. But we believe most rape laws are anti-males. Society punishes the nature of men, but excuses that of women.

Many young ladies have at a point in their lives faced attempted rape from guys they trusted most.

Do you have data to prove your first statement? We are not disputing the fact that rape does happen, just as we are not also disputing the fact that false accusations do happen. Or how do you explain the fact that most nigerian ladies in a bid to win love/ pity from there latest catch always claim they lost their virginity via rape.


If you have time and data, read up rape issues in india and then see how women are manipulatively enslaving men by taking advantage of the same rape laws mean't to protect them.

Thanks. Most friends will interpret this thread wrongly, I am not saying women are not raped ( my heart goes out to all true victims), but am saying there are evil women who are constantly taking advantage of laws meant to protect them to there depraved machinations.

The last few days here on nairaland has been war. The cause of this free for all is the subject of RAPE. So, wading through the barage of accusation, insults,and base generalistions I saw that most guys do not really understand the subject matter.

You can take this to be a crash course to that effect. Here goes:

Rape simply put is non-consensual sex. The key word is CONSENT. so if at any point a lady says/through actions express non-agreement to your sexual intent,but you still go ahead to do the deed, the law says you have raped her. It is not fair as I shall explain later,but that is the law for now.

The moral background of the raped counts for little when in court. So a prostitute, non-virgin etc. According to law can be raped. Her morality is no excuse.

So guys how can you protect yourself? Here are a few tips I got from jon mixon, a close follower of american jurisprudence:

1) Never have sex with drunk or "high" lady, legally she is in no mind to give consent.

2) A mixed answer should be taken as a no!

3) As much as possible minimise "alone time" with women. The reason is because when it comes to rape even a false accusation can be socially devastating in consequence. So employ cctv's in offices and when with female visitors at the last resort leave your doors open

4) Stay away sex wise from teenage girls and young adults. Most of them don't understand consent yet.

5) Stay away from women who have nothing to lose: a large percentage of false rape accusations come from morally lax women aiming to blackmail or outrightly ruin you.


6) Make certain that you are able to account for your time in the wake of a "bad date". Stop at a fast food restaurant, an all-night box store or a gas station. Pay with a credit/debit card and get a receipt. Just have a good alibi.



7) Only date women who know what they want. The era of "she gave me green light" is fast becoming late. When it comes to sex/rape only VERBAL CONSENT counts much. Sure asking : janet do you want to have sex? Takes away the spontanity of sex,but it might keep you out of jail.


Don't forget when it comes to rape, the woman's word counts more than your own.

Toks2008, your points are well laid out. Character wise one truly observes maturity and definiteness of purpose in the upper 25 age class of ladies.

However the reason why men go for far younger women is because: pound for pound women age faster than men. No man wants after say 10 years of marriage one can't differentiate between your wife and your mum.


Another angle is that you can't teach an old woman new dance steps. Women in this age grade assume they have seen it all relationship wise and hence are averse to gainful change.

You know why its a problem to you? Because its not benefitting you. People feed off corruption, train their kids with it, take there familes on vacation with it etc. Kids with cash have finally seen a way to succeed without hard-work, well endowed ladies can have pleasurable sex with more than one lecturer ( there BF aside), sleep in exotic hotels and still make a B. They eat there cake and still keep it.
