There's a market pple call "oja ile epo". Its near katangwa market. You should be able to get it there. Also, if u know anyone travelling to ibadan(with his or her car), such person can help u purchase the mortar and pestle along the expressway. You'll see scores of them stacked beside the expressway down to ibadan at various spots. Good luck. |
U're welcome. |
This is disappointing news. ..............short of words. |
Cloves are called kanafuru in yoruba language. Basil is called efinrin or efinrin ajale. I don't know what parsley called.

@bunmioguns, You're welcome. |

Where's your location? I've seen the cap being sold at egbeda market. I'm quite sure you'll get the designed ones there. Even if you don't get the embroidered ones, can you purchase and embroider them yourself? |

There are Different brands of ankara. You can get some for as low as 2000naira(for 5yards). It depends on the maker and quality. Other materials are: Smooth Taffeta - 140 per yard Plain Satin: 220 per yard Flowery satin: from 250 per yard Plain Organza: 150 per yard Flowery organza : from 300 per yard upwards Sunshine : from 250 per yard French lace : from 550 per yard(wholesale price) Plain Chiffon: 250 per yard Flowery chiffon: from 300 per yard China lining: 70 per yard Pls note: all prices are in naira and are as at this morning at iyana ipaja market. |
You can get the diapers in supermarkets. I remember seeing toujours in Shop Direct, abule odu branch around isheri a few days ago. They sell theirs for 2500 per pack. In ikotun market, you can get it for 2300. I got it for 2200 in ijegun market around satellite town. You'll get different types of baby wipes at the stores(fixed prices), but if you're buying from the market, you should negotiate the price e.g if the seller says huggies wipes would go for 1000, slash the price into two. IF he/she says a pack of another brand goes for 400, deduct 100 or 150 from the original price. For toys and play things, you'll get them at fixed prices at superstores too. If you're not sure you'll get a good bargain, go to the market and price the things around before you make a decision. Hope this helps. |
Hi. There's a woman I know that sews bridal dresses. Her number is 08023642527. We call her Mummy Adewumi. Cheers. |
Inside food, I've found the following: Roaches. Rat poo. Maggots(inside fried chicken). Blood(dripping from Munchies' southern fried chicken when I took d first bite). Housefly. Caterpillar(inside vegetable soup). Hair. Housefly eggs(inside wrapped fufu). Inside a particular "agbo" my mother-in-law brought for me when I suffered a miscarriage, I found the following: Live maggots, Live earthworms, Live mosquito larva Some long and slender white worms that wriggled very fast(never seen them before). Not to forget, the stuff stank so bad. I called her and started screaming on the phone, "mummy, e wo nkan to wa ninu agbo o! Ekolo ati idin! Mummy, mi o le mu o! She kept pleading that I drank the stuff, that it will kill whatever caused the miscarriage. After I ended the call, I wiped my tears and poured the whole 5litre keg down the drain. |
@rezzy: I think he meant his baby was born six weeks ago. Lol |
I don't mind hubby staying with me in the labour room. He was actually with me for a while during the birth of our first child, but when the baby crowned, the nurses requested that he left the room. Funny, while I was screaming in pain, hubby was encouraging me to stay strong, that he too was having the same pelvic pains! Talk about having sympathetic symptoms. Lol. |
@ Onnari, I've checked ur blog. Ur designs are lovely. I'm so in love with the ankara jacket. I know i'll soon reach that level where I can easily design adult clothing. I'm still in training, but i'm kinda finding children's clothing easier to sew (it took me a few days to learn how to sew baby yoke). |

Lovely thread. I wish all the "preggos" safe delivery. I must say that experiencing high risk pregnancy is not pleasant o! The consolation is that day you hear the cry of ur newborn. My pregnancies were high risk (i even had to resign my appointment then). I cant begin to relate my experiences (i still sometimes get sad when i remember how many mid-trimester pregnancies i lost, even after spending hundreds of thousands. I cant even picture d pain in my husband's face each time I experience another loss). Now i appreciate the meaning of the greeting "e ku ewu omo". To those TTC, i pray you too will become mothers soon. We shall not weep over our children. Amen. |
Wat about 'Peppe Terra'? It's pepper sealed in tetra pak. |
Ah! Perx! Why, why, why? You could've stayed & fought a bit harder. Oh death! Shame on you for taking this beautiful one from us! I dont even know how i'll concentrate in church. This is a very sad morning for me. I didnt know her personally, but i always kept her in my prayers. Rest in peace, sweetie. Sing with the Angels. |
Amen, vanessa_ra. Tanx. |
@mogbomoya, No, i dont have a shop. Wondering how i know about d prices? I had a baby about 3 months ago, so d prices of some baby things are still fresh in my memory(i also keep receipts and write prices down). |
You're welcome (& AMEN to d prayer) |
