Health / Re: Arthritis Is Stressing My Dad's Life And We Have Tried Various Treatments by Healthyway15: 3:22am On Apr 01, 2022
austinofo:
Please arthritis has made my dad's days so so in discomfort. We have tried every treatment available and have visited the best orthopaedic hospital we know around. According to the doctor after inspecting my dad after an x-ray scan said his condition is okay and administered mild medication to him but my dad is still in so much pain even after doing as directed.

Please if you know any working alternative that I can relate to my dad kindly tell me.

He is 65 and is majorly complaining of it being around his buttocks and that it is really affecting his legs.

Somebody help me please!

The best approach is by assessing his symptoms and recommending the right treatment plan for his condition. Most people can successfully manage
arthritis and still do the activities they care about.

You can check the link below for more understanding of the condition and its proper treatment :

Your symptoms point at gastrointesinal disease (GERD), a digestive disorder causing a persistent heartburn and a backwash of your stomach acid. As your stomach acid persistently flows back up into your mouth through your oesophagus, the tissue lining in your oesophagus is getting battered regularly with stomach acid till the tissue eventually becomes damaged.

This can lead to difficulty in swallowing, or an open sore(ulcer) in your digestive tract when left untreated. It's not surprising that you're becoming underweight after developing GERD because the disease limits food consumption or cause loss of appetite.

It's advisable you avoid taking the following foods and beverages : fried foods, orange juice, tomato, pepper, alcohol. Eating smaller portions of foods at mealtime and chewing thoroughly before swallowing help to control symptoms. Also, you should practice eating your dinner 3 hours before bedtime so as to let the acid in your stomach go down well.

NB : As it's quite common to treat this condition with antacids, most antacids are for quick and temporary results. However, overuse of some antacids can cause side effects, such as diarrhea or sometimes kidney problems. So you need to be careful here.

Its proper treatment is targeted at reducing the relaxation of your lower oesophageal sphincter which allows the acid backwash, and also healing the damaged oesophagus tissue.

Does the heartburn often worse immediately after eating or when you lie in bed? Are you also having problem swallowing?

Health / Re: Doctors Say There Is No Cure!!! by Healthyway15: 8:58am On Feb 23, 2022
bigpicture001:
My younger sis has a very rare medical condition.... Doctors said it has no cure..

It about her throat, she is asked by the doctor to eat always, she eats between 10-15x daily, yet sh is very slim

Two years ago, she. Noticed and complain to us that whenever she finish eating, the food after like 3min coms back to her throat. At first we didn't take it very seriously till it continued non stop. We took her to a specialist doc, when it became much often.. and after much examination, it was diagnosed that the lower muscle covering of her oesophagus has slackens..

According to the doc. The elastic muscle is pushed open when food is passing through and Loses by itself to dissallow the food from coming back up.... In her case the doc said, hers has slackens and it's now always open so food passes down easily and coms up easily

Again he instructed her to eat very small amount of food always I stead to. Eat so. Many times.. his reason is that all food that enters her mouth must completely digest before she takes in another one because if she takes more than necessary at a time, it will temporarily need to store in wait somewhere before it goes in turn for digestion, hence allowing the food to bounce back up and to her throat again..

He warmed that if she frequently has food in her throat that chemicals in the the food will eventually damage her oeasophaguz and damage her voice

Abeg which kind wahala be this, he said there is no cure for it

Tokoz20:
I had a call today from my elder Brother that my Mum is Sick. That he's on his way to go see her. In the next 30 minutes or thereabout, he called again to inform me that they are on their way to hospital. I quickly closed up with work and boarded a vehicle to the hospital. Behold, my dear Mum is sick with Stroke. How do I help? It seems my world has ended. This is because Dad died with this stroke exactly a year and six months ago. I can't stand to see Mum suffer the way Dad did for 5 years before his death. Help pls I'm so down.

Healthy lifestyle habits, certain medications and regular checkups can greatly reduce the risks of stroke. If anyone suspects he/she may be experiencing symptoms of a stroke, it’s vital that you seek emergency medical treatment as soon as possible.

Depending on how long the brain lacks blood flow and which part was affected, a stroke can cause permanent disabilities and some other long-term health problems.
However, with the right treatment and assistance, regaining a normal quality of life is usually possible, depending on the severity of the stroke. Rehabilitation is also an important and ongoing part of stroke treatment.

Also, you should be concerned about the recurrence of the stroke even after she gets well again. The bitter fact about it, is that; one in four stroke survivors experience a second stroke within five years, and this can worsen functional outcomes. The causes of a second or third stroke are often the same as for primary strokes. However, recurrence of another stroke can be preventable with certain effective medications, healthy habits and lifestyle adjustment.

Proper treatment tends to focus on repairing her cardiovascular system and restoring an adequate flow of blood to her brain whether the stroke is caused by blocked arteries or blood leak in the brain.

Is it a partial or complete stroke? How is her condition now?

Health / Re: Fibroid Operation by Healthyway15: 9:45am On Feb 08, 2022
Mummytoo:
Hello nairalanders

My sister has been diagnosed of multiple fibroid, and she is scared of the operation.

Has anyone successfully removed fibroid with herbs or concoction or any other method other than operation.

Please if anyone has a good idea on how to go about it, pls tell me

If operation is the only way out too, please let me know

Thanks

As all treatments have risks and benefits, having a full discussion of the risks and benefits of the procedure with her doctor is a good move here.

There are certain unorthodox/alternative treatments that can shrink off the fibroids completely. However, many of them take a long time of adequate and consistent treatment to clear off the fibroids present, usually counting from 2 months onward. And this requires huge financial capacity most times.

To eliminate the fibroids quickly, this is the reason surgery is mostly advised, as it's a fast method to clear off the noticeable fibroids.

You should be even more concerned about the recurrence of the fibroids. With any procedure that doesn't remove the uterus, there's a risk that new fibroids could grow and cause symptoms.

Some fibroids are so small that your doctor can’t even see them with the naked eye during the surgery. They can later grow in big masses that can affect the size and shape of your uterus. Around 30% of fibroids generally recur after (surgery) myomectomy, and it increases to around 70% 8 years after surgery.

It's good she goes for the surgery. However, if she would like to prevent any recurrence of the fibroids after surgery so she doesn't have to suffer from symptoms of fibroids again, feel free to contact me via my signature.

thank you sir. i forgot to mention that i took the covid19 vaccine (pfizer) the day i Went To The hospital. the vaccine was taken and in one hour's time my blood pressure was checked. could the vaccine i took be responsible for the rise in my blood pressure? waiting for your response sir. thank you

There is no baseline explanation that the vaccine directly causes an elevated blood pressure. An increase in BP shortly after vaccination could be due to nervousness or you had strong pain response when you got the vaccine.

As your blood pressure was not routinely checked before you were vaccinated, to note down your BP status, it's hard to conclude that the vaccine is the culprit. And as much as there's still some concern in your overall cardiovascular health, your underlying health condition may still be pointed at.

You should check your BP again, and compare it with the recent reading.

Genotype and its appropriate suitor:
AA + AA = excellent
AA + AS = Good
AA + SS = Fair
AS + AS = BAD
AS + SS = Very bad
SS + SS = Extremely Bad.

There are 3 major types of genotypes: AA, AS, SS, & others – SC and CC
Compatibility:
AA+AA can get married
AA+AS can get married
AS+AS shouldn’t get married
SS+AA can get married
AS+SC shouldn’t get married
AS+CC shouldn’t get married
AA+SC can get married
AA+CC can get married

For both parents with traits, there is a 25 percent chance of having a child with sickle cell per pregnancy. That’s why some could have all kids as sickle cell while some none. The reason why certain genotypes like AS and AS, or AS and SS shouldn’t get married together is because of the risk of having a child with the SS (sickle cell) genotype.
