Health / Re: Help On How To Quit Smoking. by Healthyway15: 6:19pm On Jan 02, 2022
Regarding the end of meal excessive urge mentioned, it's common with many smokers. Most times, ending a meal means lighting up a cigarette, and the prospect of giving that up may appear daunting. However, you can try replacing that moment after a meal with something else, such as taking fruits or chewing gum.
Health / Re: Help On How To Quit Smoking. by Healthyway15: 6:16pm On Jan 02, 2022
PharoahIII:
I am a 3-pack a day smoker. In fact on some days I smoke 4 packs a day. I smoke every goddamn time,--whilst driving, even whilst answering nature's call, after every meal (which I confess gives the most pleasure, sometimes I even eat when not hungry so I could smoke afterwards). I only smoke menthol-flavoured cigarettes( my fav brand is Chesterfield) Now this seems to be getting out of hand . Ive tried a few times to stop, the last time I tried I could not sleep, my anxiety levels blew out of proportion. Please any tips from ex smokers on how they quit would be greatly appreciated. Please those who've never lit a cigarette in their lives can keep their advice to themselves, and also please, please and please let's keep God and prayers out of this. I need practical solutions.

Addiction exerts a long and powerful influence on the brain causing loss of control over its use and continuing involvement with it despite adverse consequences. With nicotine (the addictive chemical in cigarettes); the more you smoke, the more the nicotine you need to feel good.

Don't make the mistake of trying to quit your smoking addiction suddenly again, as abrupt discontinuation may provoke many unpleasant symptoms, and, in some cases, it may be fatal. Every sudden quit attempt is usually a new chance to go back to it.

To overcome your nicotine dependence, you need to become aware of your triggers and make a plan for dealing with them. However, it's important to let you know that, while avoiding smoking triggers will help reduce your urge to smoke, you probably can’t avoid cigarette cravings entirely.

God bless you for this advice. You are too much. After the abortion yes she had pregnancy symptoms. But those symptoms have stopped. And also when she went back to the hospital... No test was carried out on her.

You're welcome.
She should see a gynaecologist to find a solution, or if you're okay with treating the condition with supplements, there are very effective supplements that enhance the functioning of the parts of the female body system, and also correct any imbalances in the body so her female functions can perform well again. valnelly:
Doctors in house. I have a female friend who did an abortion sometimes in September and up till now she hasn't seen her period. She went back to the hospital where she did the abortion and she was given some injections and drugs but still yet hasn't seen her period. It's been 3 months and still counting. What advice do you have for her please. Thank you

Every woman is different in her recovery process as it depends on factors like how their bodies cope with the abortion, and how pregnant you were because some pregnancy hormones remain in the body a few weeks afterward, and they can delay menstruation.

Following a successful abortion, it is expected that a woman's periods should start within 8 weeks. If she usually has irregular menstrual cycles sometimes, it should take her up to 12 weeks for her menstrual periods to start.

Fertility returns almost immediately after an abortion. Ovulation can return in the first or second week after. So becoming pregnant again right away is possible even before the return of menstruation.

So if your friend has had sex again after the abortion, it's, advisable that she goes for a pregnancy test first to rule out the possibility of pregnancy. However, if she has stayed away from sex all this while, then 3 months is too long. It's better she undergoes some certain treatment to correct any imbalances so her body system can get back to normal quickly.

NB : The possibility of an incomplete abortion or infection shouldn't be left out.

Is she experiencing continued symptoms of pregnancy after the abortion? Did they run any test on her when she went back to the hospital?
Health / Re: Help! Computer Is Damaging The Eye by Healthyway15: 9:42pm On Dec 30, 2021
jamesbridget13:
Hello nairalanders n Doctors in the house.

My hubby is suffering an eye issue which he suspects to be Computer Vision Syndrome. He has visited hospitals even a teaching hospital and he was given a glass n eye drop but it seems not to go away.
Symptoms are
Blur vision
Water sometimes comes out of d eye
He has a feeling as if something is in d eye

Pls if you have any suggestions I would appreciate pls

Typically, eye discomfort and vision problems are experienced when viewing digital screens for long periods, with discomfort levels appearing to increase in proportion to the amount of time spent using a digital screen. The thing is; many of the visual symptoms experienced by users are only temporary and usually decline after stopping computer work or use of the digital device. So, I would advise he stops the computer work for a while.

However, if he still experiences the blurred vision and watery eyes, even after stopping work at a computer, or gets worse, proper health care without delay is advised. If Computer Vision Syndrome is not addressed well in these cases with appropriate treatment, symptoms will not only continue to recur but may also worsen(eyesight damage/blindness) with computer or screen use in the future.

Also, even wearing eyeglasses or contacts does not stop the discomfort because their prescriptions are not specifically designed for computer or device use.

Do the symptoms come with headache/neck pain? Has he really visited an ophthalmologist?

Health / Re: My Brother Is Down With Partial Stroke Pls Help by Healthyway15: 12:06pm On Dec 19, 2021
myhero:
Pls house am in tears as I write this. My elder brother is down with partial Stoke. He is 50 years old now. We have taken him to somewhere in owerri where people claim its d best hospital that treats Stoke. He was there for 4 months yet no solution. We brought him back home and since we brought him back home, the psycio therapist has been coming in daily basis for treatment yet no improvement.. Pls someone should pls advice me on what next to do.. He can talk and remembers things but his speech is not that smooth, he can't walk by himself even with walking sticks unless I assist him.. His right hand and right leg are affected and hardly move. House pls help me with advice and suggestions pls am in tears

As you said the partial stroke occurs at his right hand and right leg, it's safe to say it's the left part of his brain that's affected. Depending on how long the brain lacks blood flow and which part was affected, a stroke can cause permanent disabilities and some other long-term health problems.

However, with the right treatment and assistance, regaining a normal quality of life is usually possible, depending on the severity of the stroke. Rehabilitation is also an important and ongoing part of stroke treatment just as someone mentioned here.

You should also be concerned about the recurrence of the stroke even if he gets well again. The bitter fact about it, is that, one in four stroke survivors experience a second stroke within five years, and these can worsen functional outcomes. The causes of a second or third stroke are often the same as for primary strokes. However, recurrence of another stroke can be preventable with certain effective medications, healthy habits and lifestyle adjustment.

Proper treatment tends to focus on restoring an adequate flow of blood to the brain whether the partial stroke is caused by blocked arteries or blood leak in the brain so he can enjoy quality life and won't have to worry about stroke again.

He has been down with the stroke for how many months now? What's his latest BP reading? Does he have vision problems in one or both eyes?

Erectile dysfunction is often related to problems with blood flow. Maintaining your blood vessel health may be beneficial in treating ED. This can be achieved through making certain choices, such as going for its right treatment, eating a healthy diet, exercising. Treatment for ED depends on the underlying cause.
Have you ever treated some health conditions such as cardiovascular disease or diabetes? Have you ever really tried to be intimate with a lady?

Godsfathfulness:
Dear Nairanders, I have noticed a consistent pattern in my health which is extremely worrisome to me. I noticed that a day after having sex I am perfectly fine; but two, three days after, I feel extreme fatigue and generally unwell. I am a married man with children and above 44 years. I have done several basic tests of my vitals and all tests confirmed medical fitness. For this reason it takes me at least a week or ten days after intercourse before meeting my partner again. I am worrying about this. Has anyone experienced anything like this? What help did you seek? Medical doctors in the house please, please what kind of test should I run to get to the root of this matter? Anyone with useful information or advice please, help a brother.

#Lala and other MODS, is it possible to move to front page so this can be seen by more people so that OP can get help. Thanks everyone.

Your condition is a rare, chronic health disorder that occurs post-orgasm (after reaching orgasm). Sufferers can experience a mixture of high fever, perspiration, extreme fatigue and weakness. Feeling this way after each orgasm is rather distressing.

Regardless of the type of symptoms experienced, they tend to set in quickly and consistently after orgasm. Symptoms usually vary in intensity and duration and last between 2 to 7days, at which point they spontaneously resolve.

The cause is still unknown but most theories state that it's an allergic or autoimmune reaction. However, it's much treatable with immune-boosting medications, or allergy medications to reduce the sensitivity.
When did you first notice it? Have you complained to your doctor about it?

Health / Re: Help, My Heart by Healthyway15: 9:22am On Nov 27, 2021
Thermodynamics:
i was misdiagnosing of high blood pressure

It's a bit lebghty but I have to explain everything that happened from scratch.

Before i start note that i'm just 29 years old

Good morning Nairalnders, I was having some ulcer symptoms like chest burn so I went to the hospital, there the nurses checked my BP with an electronic machine and it was normal(132/80) after that, I went into the doctors office and he checked my BP with a manual machine and it showed (150/100) and immediately gave me a blood pressure medication and clopidogrel 75 mg with some ulcer medications. Note that the doctor who said I have high BP only checked my blood pressure once with a manual machine and concluded that I have high blood pressure, even though the nurses then used an electronic machine and it appeared normal.

I knew I was misdiagnosed because after I left the state where the hospital is, I've checked my blood pressure up to 10 times both with manual and electronic machine and it appeared normal, other doctors I contacted told me that they shouldn't have given me BP medication after checking my BP just once with a manual machine, especially as the electronic machine showed normal, especially considering my age (I'm 29) and adviced me to stop.

The problem now is that, from the time I started taking this medication, I've been experiencing pain on my heart, I mean like the exact spot where my heart is, serious heart burn and pain at that very spot where my heart is, anytime I touch that spot I feel the pain more. This problem i have continued even after I stopped taking the BP medication and the clopidogrel, I've read online and saw that these two medications have serious and life threatening side effect.

I went to another hospital in the state where I currently reside and the doctor said I'm having a panic attack, and give me at anti depressants/anxiety medication, together with a medication that is mostly prescribed for epileptic patients. I bought the medication but couldn't take them as I was scared, as I don't feel anxiety or depressed neither do I have epilepsy.

THE PROBLEM NOW IS THAT, I'M STILL EXPERIENCING THIS SEVERE HEART PAIN(BURNING AND PAIN), LITERARILY ON MY THE EXACT SPORT WGERE MY HEART IS. I'M SCARED OF NIGERIAN HOSPITALS, THEIR MISTAKES CAN BE FATAL, OUR DOCTORS DON'T LISTIN, WHEN YOU TALK TO THEM THEY JUST START WRITING WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION.

I'M SCARED OF TAKING ENGLISH DRUGS, PLEASE I NEED SUGGESTIONS ON HAVE TO TACKLE THIS THE HEARBAL WAY OR WITH SUPPLEMENTS.

I'VE SPENT OVER 100K ALREADY.
I CHECKED MY BP LAST WEEK MONDAY AND IT READ 120/80.

Many times, either due to patient load or lack of awareness among physicians, often single blood pressure measurement is used to diagnose and manage high blood pressure. Having patients go on BP drugs when they don't need them means they are taking medications that add little or no benefit to their well-being, with some side effects at times.

Repeated blood pressure measurements have been shown to be more representative of the true BP status. Improper measurement of BP usually leads to inaccurate classification and unnecessary treatment. It's even advised that blood pressure should be measured at least three times to prevent misdiagnosis.

Although the doses of drugs like clopidogrel should be eliminated from your body system within three days, unfortunately, sometimes they leave the body with side effects such as more severe heartburn and pain in the heart region, which pose dangerous attack to your heart health. I guess that's why you're currently suffering from those symptoms.

Getting medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of serious reactions from BP medications is very crucial, and shouldn't be delayed.

If I may ask, did you take notice of your heart pulse reading or do the symptoms come with difficulty breathing?

Health / Re: I Always Feel Severe Fatique After Meal. Any Meal At All by Healthyway15: 11:36am On Nov 16, 2021
Sirsesan:
I have this unknown medical condition for the past 9 years. It deplete my muscle strength and gives me fatigue after meal. Fatigue that takes hours to dissipate. A slight fatigue sensation still remain with me all day. it is just most severe after meal. I left hand sometimes becomes heavy, like blood not flowing through it when sleeping in the night. I have gone through several medical test and procedures, it has been called several hypothetical names. I started going to the gym since last year and my muscle strength has returned but the fatigue after meal remains. Any advise will be highly appreciated.

In most cases, a dip in energy levels after eating is a natural biological response. A little bit of sluggishness/sleepiness after eating is completely normal and nothing to worry about.

However, if this is getting in the way of your daily activities or affecting your quality of life, then the overwhelming tiredness after eating could be a sign of an underlying medical condition such as diabetes. Or abnormal body mechanism (a slight shift in blood flow away from the brain to the digestive organs, especially when eating).

Another one; the quantity of food you eat is another major factor in how you feel after a meal. Large meals rich in protein and carbohydrates are most likely to make people feel tired or sleepy.

You should practice the following lifestyle habit :
Try to reduce the portion size of your meals, and eat four or five smaller meals per day instead of three large meals per day. This allows your body to digest a manageable amount of food, every so often, throughout the day.
Drink more water and unsweetened beverages before and during meals. This will increase your rate of digestion while helping to fill you up, so you eat smaller portions.
After you eat, exercise at a moderate intensity for about 30 minutes.

Are you sure you usually have quality night sleep?
