Rahym001:
All this lecturers that collect salary from more than two different institutions in the name of Sabbatical,, Adjunct, visiting

Mr A is on sabbatical leave in University 1

Mr A is an Adjunct Lecturer in University 2

Mr A is a visiting Lecturer in University 3

While Mr A is a Senior Lecturer in University 4

That's why unemployment is rampant in the land
Sabbatical Appointments are enshrined in the edicts of the Universities globally and it is once every 7 years.
For you to get a sabbatical appointment you must have a PhD and a number of publication
Adjunct or visiting positions are based on human capacity needs of a department especially if they can't afford a full time staff.
In most schools Adjunct positions are reserved for PhD holders.

How many youths with a PhD do you know? Do you have a PhD? Have you applied for any advertised position?
Have you been rejected because of an adjunct personnel? How do you know that this is the cause of unemployment?
This is not to attack but to clarify facts from myths.

Most schools don't like adjuncts because it counts less towards accreditation.

A Senator is earning per month what 58 professors are earning you are not looking at that
The government policies are shutting down businesses are you not aware of that too?
The cost of food is high, so are basic amenities but ASUU. a fragment of an oppressed society is the problem.
You are doing exactly what the government wants: sentimental arguments.
If ASUU fails, every one including yourself will pay dearly for it.

If you believe this lies, you can believe anything.
Not a lie.
The professors who registered on IPPIS are crying right now.
They can't cope.
Many of them are close to retiring.
If you don't know, ask before you make judgements.

A lecturer I earning 5,800 from Feb 2020 till his salary was stopped in July can attest.

Another federal parastatal worker on IPPIS has been pursuing her salary of November last year till date.
Worst is you have to go to Abuja to lodge complaints.
If you can't afford hotel accommodation for at least 2 days or know anybody you can put up with
OYO na your case.

Hello Nairalander,
I really need advice concerning making a choice between the two jobs before me. My family members are divided over which job I should choose.

I'm working in a highbrow secondary school and my start up salary was N75,000. After three years, my salary is now N96,000.00. I just got a lecturing job with a private university and my gross salary according to the appointment letter is N88,000.00. My father wants me to continue with my teaching in the secondary school but my mother and fiancee are pressuring me to write acceptance letter to the university and accept the offer. There's no time, both the university and the secondary school will be resuming on 12/10/2020 and I have to make a choice between now and Thursday. My fiancee is already calling herself "wife of a lecturer" and threatening that she will quit the relationship if I did not accept the university offer. My mind is in the secondary school because there is free lunch and N150,000.00 housing allowance per year, but the university doesn't give lunch and housing allowance.

Should I go and become Mr. Lecturer and sacrifice my secondary school benefits?
I had to log in for a major reason.
To correct the impression that being a University Lecturer will make you rich or better.
First of al congratulations on your offer
Now here are my opinions
Since its a private University they may start with you as a GA or AL.
Now if youre in that level within 3-4 years you must have a PhD or be prepared to face an uncertain future.
If I were you, I would stay in the Secondary School, work towards getting a PhD and get a better bargaining leverage.
My friend was in Igbinedion for 3 years with a PhD in Engineering. The thing wey man eye see, mouth no go fit talk am.
Salary was irregular, job insecurity, etc.

I wish you well

As for your fiancee, if she was meant for you she'll abide by any decision you make.

Descorts:
We started as friends. We were so close she could do anything for me and I could do anything for her.

She had a boyfriend who was a serial cheat and treated her like trash. It got to a point they broke up and he left. She was heartbroken.

I gave her my shoulders to lean on. I was there for her throughout those turbulent times and made sure she was never sad again.

She moved on. 2 months on we started dating. It was all fun and rosy. I'm not the type to fall deeply in love or should I say, women don't tickle my fantasy, I'd rather be with my goons than be with any girl.

But this girl came into my life and I don't know what she did to me to make me so in love with her. I loved her, she loved me. It was a heaven made match and a relationship anyone would wish for. On my birthday she got me a really expensive gift and I fell even more for her.

3 months on, her birthday was close and I was planning to make it special for her. Then I heard her ex came back in town, I wasn't troubled, "she loves me so much and she won't bat an eyelid for him anymore" I thought.

And then it happened. She left me for her ex who came back for her. I heard from a reliable source that before he came back, they'd been communicating online and the guy told her he's coming to take her back and he did take her from me.....

I am broken.....
I shall rise again in no time, and when I rise... I AM GOING TO BE A HEARTLESS MONSTER.
These hoes... non virgins or virgins, young or old, I shall toy with their emotions and break them....

GAME ON
Rule number 1:

Let her heal and move on. If there is anything like that.

EducationRe: Is Spending N16M On A 3-Year Ph.D In The UK Worth It? by Hectarus(m): 10:11am On Mar 26, 2020
Trello:
Hello everyone - I'm not quite sure whether this is the right section to post this.

Anyways, I currently hold a Master's degree and I also recently gained admission into a PhD program in a UK university but with no funding from the school and the estimated total cost of the tuition and living expenses amount to about #16 million for the 3 years.

So, I decided to come seek the opinion of folks here with better experience if it really worth spending this amount in the long run or should I rather invest this amount?

Thank you in advance!
An opportunity of a life time if you'll permit me.
Global exposure, world class environment, cutting edge knowledge etc are just some of the benefits you'll gain from this study.
However. my question is :how do you want to fund your tuition and living expenses?
What program are you interested in pursuing?
What are the underlying terms and conditions that come with your admission like extra fees etc
Have you factored in the recent devaluation of the Naira into your calculations?
Once you have solid and concrete answers to these questions. I think you can go ahead.
If not you should reevaluate your strategy and opt for a cheaper country in Europe or the Americas.
Cheers
Education10 Tips For Writing A Grant Winning Statement Of Purpose For Graduate School by Hectarus(op): 4:06pm On Oct 12, 2018
Writing a Statement of Purpose, Statement of Intent or a Motivational Statement is among other requirements, a key feature of an application to many Graduate schools globally; especially for the purpose of securing funding or financial support. Usually written in prose form in one or two pages, a well written statement of purpose is critical to the success of an application. It guarantees you a very bright chance as it separates you in the fiercely competitive graduate school admission room as different applications from around the world are considered.

Unfortunately, a not-so-well written statement significantly mitigates the chances for a “Yes” decision on that application.

Hence, below are 10 tips that will be highly essential to writing Scholarship or Grant winning statement of purpose:

1. Beware of Unexciting or Boring Introduction

Like top recruiters, graduate school admissions committee also have limited time in going through tons of applications into the same programme. Thus, a boring introduction like “Why am I applying to XYZ programme? .hmmmm an interesting question indeed ” or introducing yourself on the first line is capable of putting off the admission decision officer that wants to read your statement. Hence, an opinion on the prose could be formed based on that line.

2. Don’t repeat your resume

As simple as it looks, many people get it wrong here. Your resume is your life history; a statement of purpose is how you lived out that history, in the events that highlight each experience- it is supposed to give it life using pictures however in words. Knowing how to do this is a skill that can be mastered with practice.

3. Avoid disjointed sentences.

Since the statement is written in a prose form, the words usage for sentence and paragraph construction should well align with the original intention for the application. The sentences must flow into one another in a meaningful weave of sonorous harmony.

4. Avoid Irrelevant Scenarios, Stories or Third party Tales

Stories are powerful ways of captivating the audience and aligning with your purpose of the letter. However, relating a tale from a distant relative, or similar narratives from friends could mean you just came to make up the numbers in the admission procedure. If at all, tell stories that only make personal or professional relevance to your admission plan.

5. Don’t Try to be verbose

Using too many words or showing off with a litany of sophisticated word use of the language you could think that will bring you closer to your dreams: sorry to disappoint you, it may not be too true for all cases. Except your application is in Literature or in the Arts; rather keep it simple, sweet and easy to understand.

6. Don’t fake your Experience or expertise

Trying to paint a picture of who you are not may be a very bad idea in your statement. If you’ve got the stuffs, show it! If not be silent on the not too perfect skills while amplifying the ones that make you a special candidate. Imagine a visit to Philippines with an avalanche narrative! Needless to say Philippines don’t have temperate climate! Or Coding Java on MS Word!

7. Tell a compelling story about you

Life events that opened vistas of opportunities, forged career choice, graduate school decisions etc. are highly relevant to a successful personal statement write up. Let your stories be enchanting, engaging and full of the right words and anecdotes.

8. Don’t force humour or pity

If you are not funny don’t just try to pull any jokes or humour in your write up! It’s not worth it. No pity party in Grad school, only candidates that show potentials to successfully deliver on their research are considered hence you must prop yourself to be such.

9. Seeking a second, third and fourth Opinion

I call it the law of the fourth which states that by the time you review a write up the fourth time, it becomes near perfect. For more information on how to get a good opinion and possibly edit your statement of purpose you can click https://www.fiverr.com/s2/8d0b072bd2. This means proof reading to check the punctuations, spellings and the structure and tone of the write up to suit the application purpose.

10. Finally prepare, prepare.

This cannot be over emphasized. Clear out your head and articulate your thoughts on a point by point basis on a rough sheet and take it up from there.

CareerTop 10 CV Writing Tips by Hectarus(op): 5:10pm On Sep 11, 2018
One of the most powerful but under estimated self projection tools a young job seeker can have is a well written CV structured along performance and value addition potentials . Also known as Curriculum Vitae, a CV is one of the few if not the only opportunity you get for any formal employment assessment- it is your link to the world.
According to Cv library, getting your CV right can earn you many interviews while doing otherwise may limit the chances of you getting that invitation via call or text.
Each CV is unique as it details the set of skills that can sway a potential employer in your direction for a possible job position. There is no one fit-it-all approach in writing a CV as each industry requires that you tailor your skills towards the sector of the economy you are interested in working in. There are sections that every employer expects to see in a CV and the following are highly valuable tips that can guide you in writing an attention grabbing CV!! Not only that a dream job landing one at that. Yes it's that easy!

Tip 1:
Be brief in writing your name and contact information.
It is important that you write your full names as legible and as brief as possible. There is no such thing as a name writing contest! For so many recruiters, writing traditional names/Aliases on your CV is a no-no. You can add professional abbreviations after the name. Additionally, writing the contact address on a single line gives the advantage of being perceived as brief, sharp and resourceful.
Tip 2
Using professional looking e-mail addresses give you an edge
Tip 3
When developing a Personal Statement/Career Objective/Professional Profile, keep it simple, sharp
Tip 4
Educational Qualifications, and distinctions followed by professional qualifications earned with dates should come in descending order from the latest qualification.
Tip 5
Employment history
Should be performance based . This where most young job seekers miss it. Just listing your job title, and functions is not enough. There must be a standard to bench mark your functional performance against. For example

Scenario 1:
Job Title Data Analyst XYZ Company (2000-2005)
Function Responsible for Data collection and analysis
Scenario 2:
Job Title : Service Administrator(Data) XYZ (200-2005):
Achieved complete data management using tools as SPSS, MYSQL, Excel, etc within 3 months in the data section.
